QOTD: When access to Bank comes to Scarlet & Violet, I hope that one of the strategies you consider trying out for a video is changing Ursaluna's ability into Iron Fist while having it hold the Punching Glove. For some reason, Headlong Rush is a move that gets powered up by Iron Fist. Additionally, if I recall, Ursaluna has access to Drain Punch, Close Combat, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, and Thunder Punch. I forget if the Ursaluna line has access to Bulk Up, too, but I'm more certain that they can get Belly Drum.
I know you’ve already used this strat but I still think the absolute funniest strat was magic bounce parting shot having that absolutely bizarre interaction where it swaps out the magic bounce user and lowers the parting shot users stats for proccing defiant. That last battle is hysterically funny and you know that they had a flamigo in the back with costar to get the boosts from Coalossal 😂
QotD: A fun fact about Terastalization- when you tera, all moves under 60 bp that share the same as the terastalized mon become 60 bp!! This buff is only applied to non-priority, non-multihit moves, and only *after* all other base power boosts from abilities have been applied, so abilities like Technician do not stack with it. I’d like to see a strategy that abuses this mechanic, using a move like Tera Poison Acid Spray to melt walls, Tera Ghost Astonish as a Ghost-type Headbutt on a Serene Grace mon, or Tera Electric Nuzzle actually getting knockouts! The actual damage might be low, but the mental damage of the opponent’s mon being knocked out by these weak moves would be irreparable.
I would like to see some strats for either attacking through Protect, or just punishing for Protect with Encore. Protect is soooooooo overused in competitive Pokemon, I think you could crush some hopes and dreams by making Protect a weakness rather than a defense.
That rage quit at the end is the only rage quit I’ve seen that I understand. Usually rage quitting is petty and dumb, but I can’t blame the guy at all for leaving when he accidentally walked into the hardest possible counter to a team he probably put a lot of work into.
I may not play pokemon anymore, but one of my favorite 'strats' was burn orb guts façade ursaring. Thing hit so god damned hard! Now that ursaluna is a thing, with 140 attack and 130 hp... well, whatever wall smashing power ursaring had has now been upgraded to big bundles of dynamite. A good build for when you just don't want to do complicated strats, when you just wanna ooga booga all over an opponent that day.
I'm pretty sure that when the tauros protected in the first battle, they were expecting a Tera blast. It seems pretty clear you're built around ceruledge, so I imagine it's reasonable for them to assume you will usually terrastalize and run Tera blast
The grass Tera hat on Ceruledge just makes me think of giving her a flower crown to wear. She'd be thrilled with it! Only for it to.. accidentally catch fire. Poor thing, gotta find some fireproof accessories for your fire 'mons.
Also for the question, would you ever consider playing older gens on showdown? I’m not really keeping up with this generation personally not sure if anyone else feels the same way
I know someone in the comments mentioned Sharpness Population Bomb Maushold but I have an idea, how about a Copycat team that copies Population Bomb? Some Pokemon that would work are Hisuian Samurott since it gets Copycat (and so do the rest of the team members) and Sharpness, Flamigo since it gets Scrappy to hit Ghost types, and Meowscarda since it has Protean. That's the entire team I thought up so far, idk about the last two team members
It still would be cool to see a self proc thermal exchange with weakness policy for Baxcalibur. I used the method with tera steel and have ceruledge be choiced with minus spatk lava plume to have everything trigger first but knowing you I feel ya can make it so much better
I commented this before, but I would like to see if you could make Chilly reception work! It's a cool weather move that sets up after other weathers and gives you a pivot which can be slow or fast if you have trick room too. I tried to use it with Stonjourner and Glaceon so that I could pivot into Stonjourner on the turn snow goes up to get power spot boosted blizzards. I had some success but the rest of my team was definitely not built very well. Maybe you could do better!
I still want to see you pull off the Drifblim/Flare Boost/Flame Orb set. I feel like you are one of the only people who can make it do work. Also, I think in the new generation it would be fun to see some VGC Scovillain/Spicy Extract shenanigans. I have faith in you!
if you can give Ceruledge Sharpness, then why not also give it to Maushold? If I remember right, Population Bomb gets a boost from Sharpness for some reason.
Population Bomb is indeed boosted by Sharpness, likely reasoning being that they use their teeth and they're sharp, but as Maushold already has Technician, this doesn't increase the damage potential.
