Wonderful Singer and Actor !!!! Loved him in the Movie " Beach Blanket Bingo " and the Movie " Greece " !!!! One of My Favorite Singer's from the GOOD OLD 60's !!!!!!
I had no idea he was that good. Great rhythm, great intonation, and can really get bluesy. And how about that orchestra! Who is that piano player, that's as good as it gets.
From the same episode on which Frankie sang "The Girl Back Home". This is from the time in which Frankie's hit-making career as a teen idol was over, and he was about to become known as half of the AIP beach party movie team with Annette Funicello. What I wrote on that performance applies to this one as well, so I will copy and paste my comment from the other video: Three days before this appearance, Frankie began a stint at Jules Podell's Copacabana. The headliner of the act was comedian Myron Cohen. As with other teen idol singers of the time, and following the great success of Bobby Darin, he was attempting to move into the adult singing style of someone like Frank Sinatra, and his act consisted of standards and older songs sung in a way to please an older audience. He did not perform any of his prior record hits. The day before this Sullivan appearance, his act was given a positive review in Billboard with the critic noting that he has "ease, polish and an ingratiating floor style", further writing, that Avalon "doesn't have the power delivery of an Anka or even a Rydell, but what he lacks in decibels he makes up in humility."
Yes it did the beatles made every American rock and soul acts to take notice. They made everyone step up even the beach boys and motown. They even admitted it even Dylan took notice. Reason why he want electric. With the exception of the beach boys four seasons Elvis and the soul music was the only good thing after 1959 to 1963.
Dee Dee Dinah forever! Wish the teen idols could have stuck with the more poppy, rockin' songs with a teen ballad in between. But then again, Sinatra and Co were what they probably were aiming at as young stars slowly but surely outgrowing the teen audience of their previous years. The British Invasion would sweep away a lot of American artists anyway - at least in terms of record sales.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! A TRUE Gentleman with tons of CLASS!❤

And looks....
Frankie Avalon was a very nice man met him 3 times in my life had a huge crush on him and he could sing well also
Beautiful voice - ah, the good old days 💞🎵
Frankie is an ALL Around Good Guy. Love and respected by all his peers
He seemed to have developed quite a bit as a singer since his teen idol days. He reminds me a little bit of Eddie Fisher.
Love this!
❤️ 🎶 "Beautifully 💕 Sensually Heartfelt. An extraordinary Singer 🏆 Magnificence ln Abundance. Thanks for sharing ❤️ and enjoy a delightful evening..". 🎶 ❤️
I can see why when people started listening to the Beatles, it struck fear in the hearts of every American musician.
HA HA not the BEACH BOYS

Very Nice Polite ...but not a favorite of mine "come rain or come shine"😉
They don't make music like that anymore.
Frankie always had a nice voice it's just that he got stagnated.
Gads....
when you sing this song...you will be compared to Judy and Sinatra..or Bobby Darin...
not in a good way...
