Tag2 just didn't have the same feel. Maybe because the music and stages were too bland and generic (with few exceptions). The gimmicky gameplay didn't help either.
@@Shibu_PL agree, the soundtrack is a big one. The atmosphere just isn't there in general in a lot of the new tekken stages Tag 1 and 5 were my faves cos of this
@@lancefay6970 yeah I like the tag 2 the most. I actually like the insanely high damage, although it's probably not welcoming for new or inexperienced players
most people remember things wrong. Tag 1 is just as gimmicky and broken as tag 2 if not worse. Tag games are always busted. People need to stop comparing them to the main series cuz theres a huge difference between standard 1v1 and tag balance.
The ultra hard CPU in this game was busted, but could be weirdly buggy. You could use Ogre or Kazuya WS+2 and they would immediately tag out. You could just loop the input until they die. They also would fail to evade True Orge's down 1+2 for some reason.
In Tekken Tag games, both Tag 1 and Tag 2, you can escape the double over stun by pressing tag and not just the directional buttons, unlike in the 1 vs 1 Tekken games.
Just pick Devil and spam df12 and you good to go. I also recomend mostly using mids and never ever do a low against AI. Just wait they wiff or blockpunish a shit move. My record was something like 09:05 with no cheese tactics but i used Devil/Jin, the best character/team by far imo.
The Nostalgia!! This is the game that made me fall in love with Tekken! The stages, the music, the characters and attires too. It felt like a HD version of Tekken 3 🔥
Before Tekken 5, throw break windows were like 10 frames or something. It was a lot harder to break throws back then and the 1+3 and 2+4 animations were more similar, which made it harder to distinguish. They increased the throw break window in Tekken 5 to 15 frames and they changed the animations as well to make them easier to tell.
Tbh, the throw system in Tekken was never good. in Tekken 7 it's easier to break but it doesn't even give an advantage except with special throws where you switch positions like Jin uf1+2.
@@mayorofbagtown9097 word? I definitely believe it. I had TTT for PS2 but I was also just trash at the game in general let alone if I remembered how to do anything. It was probably the excuse I made for myself for not being able to break throws lol
This game is what made me fall in love with Tekken I was about 6 years when I played this game first it’s still special to me till this day because of the music, atmosphere, characters, gameplay
Man, this game is good nostalgic times. Spending so much time in training mode practicing fancy tag combos for never really any reason other than because I could. But this, to me, is one of the best Tekken games. Absolutely love the music, the mechanics, the characters, and the fighting.
Man I was 10yrs old back in 00' when this drop, i didn't have a PS2 at that time but I was able to play this in the arcade and going over friends houses eating pizza and playing Tekken, gotta love it. 🍕 🎮.....
Just a heads up, Tekken Tag 1 HD on a PS3 emulator actually runs better than PCSX2 and of course looks much better. Loved the video tho like 1 hour of Arsenalty suffering against the AI? Count me in son, you took it like a champ
Have you played this game on ultra hard? The only real way you were beating this mode is by getting familiar with the AI and cheesing them, and even that was a lot easier said than done Cuz they have near psychic level reading.
Funnily, this game unironically made my throw break better in tekken 7. At the nostalgia trip at that game, i was attempting to unlock all Mishimas, and put the difficulty at Ultra Hard, and man the throws the AI pulls. After sometime, i managed to learn the animation to throw break, and throw break almost consistently (Sometimes i failed like 2 times at the very least in my arcade run). And then in tekken 7 i suddenly have better throw breaks while playing online lmao.
Tekken Tag 1 is the first TEKKEN game I had bought and still is the one I like going back to on PS2. I labbed Bruce for the first time in this game in 2001.
Man comparing to Tekken 2 Arcade Ver B. AI vs this AI wow what a big difference! Stage 1 already busted but in terms of Final Boss Kazuya still miles harder than Unknown! Nice run Arsenalty and love your vids!
I completely forgot about Bryan just straight up murderising people in an office or some shit. And then he does the same to the soldiers/SWAT team trying to stop him.
I literally had to spam death fist with Paul and unblockables with yoshimitsu to beat this these guys duck and punish 10 frame moves got to cheese them
They worked SO HARD to keep the polygons in a PS2 game. Most of you dont know but the looking back, this game is an artpiece just bc they worked on the engine with a acceptable background and still neat looking AND those fighter models . Tekken 4 which came out years after doesnt look good like this. Yes I do work with 3d models and animation :D
I believe for Tekken 4, the polygon count on the characters was reduced from TTT1 as they finally switched to actual 3d stages. One thing I notice about T4 characters is that the skin/muscle deformation looks better than any other Tekken.
you've done well but theres 1(or 2) more challenges left imo Hardest difficulty Tekken 7 story(or at least special mission 13) and Hardest difficulty SFxT
It's always nice to see Julia be a menace, I always preferred to play against the very hard ai instead to train execution as ultra hard is very exploitable with the predictable throw patterns. Julia can easily bait the throws and punish with a hopkick from crouched that would lead in to a half bar juggle. Very hard is much more loose in what the ai does which is much more fun.
I know Tekken 3 is like "The Tekken" for most people including myself but TTT1 was just something else man. Never enjoyed TTT2 as much as this one.
Tag2 just didn't have the same feel. Maybe because the music and stages were too bland and generic (with few exceptions). The gimmicky gameplay didn't help either.

I find it funny that we essentially still have this out-dated AI design in the modern games.
In Tekken Tag games, both Tag 1 and Tag 2, you can escape the double over stun by pressing tag and not just the directional buttons, unlike in the 1 vs 1 Tekken games.

True ogre ff2, the 2nd automatic hit from the snake was guaranteed to hit even if they block. It was a super long range mid
Tekken Throw Tournament results in this video
Thrown: 141
Throws Broken: 20
Throws Landed: 3
The amounts of throws in ultra hard in ttt are pretty cancerous
I also find it obnoxious that when you're trying to throw the AI, they duck & throw you in return.

This game's voice acting my favourite also anouncer. Tekken 7 voice acting terrible imo(Lei , Law, Miguel, )
Look up the original version, it basically was an HD T3 originally :)

Is that why King was so scary back then (Especially his face in T1)
Also I'm pretty sure in Tag 1, breaking throws was the corresponding throw input, not just the punch like in later games.
@@DrEchoi was just playing the arcade version. You can break with just 1 or 2 in that.

The most determined & insanely abusive throw spamming AI ever in a Tekken game. Brings back good memories.
The early Tekken games had very aggressive AI except 3

My first Tekken game, I was too young to know what the hell it was. I found and picked Tekken up again recently with 7. Good to be back!
Tekken tag 1 and tekken 4 were my favorites out of the franchise
I still can hear TTT1 soundtracks play in my head.
