Matthew's advice helped me navigate a tricky time in my relationship back when my now-husband and I were dating. My man and I have now been married for 12 years! His advice is gold, sisters. I also want to say how much I appreciate him for squeezing into that short little chair across from Marie in a place set up for petites. It looks a bit too small for him but he made the sacrifice for us.

Interesting turn of perspective Mathew has had lately. Years ago I called his organization and questioned why he only talks to women and has no male audience.
At the time his sales team dismissed my question. All I could think was why pay thousands of dollars to go to a lecture with 1000's of women educating themselves far beyond the emotional, spiritual capacity of 90% of the world's men.
I wonder if him finding his true love has made him realize how insanely difficult it is for an educated, consciously aware, solvent woman to find an emotionally stable, safe and secure partner that wants to go All IN.
The more that woman do the work the smaller the pool of eligible bachelors become. Society, apps, porn, plastic surgery, the paradox of choice have given men a complete out on developing emotional intelligence.
The sad part we are simply wired differently, In opposite ways mentally and biologically -
I had a 70 year old woman tell me once to love my best life at all times as finding the right person is either destiny or luck.

What he did at the end there - acknowledging the real struggle and shit some people go through, and the fact that even his advice might not work for people in very difficult circumstances - I found this extremely graceful!

Thank you Marie and Matthew! I love both of your work. As I’m listening to the health struggle it made me wonder. Do you know about oxalates in food. It’s a new topic I’m learning from my kidney issue. And as I read more on it it talks a lot about how it can potentially give aches in pains and no doc can figure out why. It’s hard because oxalates are found in extremely healthy foods.

Did you ever read “Viktor Frankl”? How to find meaning and purpose in life. Is not always about finding happiness but understanding that we all find purpose in relationships, in love and in suffering as well. Amazing approaches from this amazing psychiatrist that created the Logotherapy. And in relationships we need to know better who we are, the personalities that influenced our behaviour and how to fit or adapt to someone else. I really like Matthew’s humbleness and smart attitude towards relationships! Thank you Marie for this episode! You Rock.

The number one reason I don't have the hard conversations is precisely because I'm not sure of how to deliver the information in a way that will be well received. It's one thing to understand the concept of what to do and not do in dating but another completely when given an example of HOW and WHAT this looks like in real life in the form of having an exact script to emulate. So thank you for that!!

My heart is so touched with Matthew's sincerity and honesty and vulnerability on this video. The extent to which he acknowledges the human condition and how difficult it is for some to find the right one. I found Matthew's work about 10 years ago. I bought his program, and even went to his live event in LA. I still haven't found the right guy, and it has felt like how he says "is something wrong with me", but it was so refreshing to hear about his own personal story and to hear how those that are on the mountain top can also feel the struggles. I love the part about loving oneself, and the question answer at the end. Thank you Marie, for facilitating this interview and giving the people a voice.

To me the key here is that Matthew is - overall - coaching us to come from a sincere and vulnerable place, rather than a strategic, manipulative "make him obsessed with you!" place. That part about tactics - it's really, really true. People are constantly screening themselves out of eligibility as your person to be in a happy relationship with, and your choice is whether you join them, or focus on that relationship with yourself and your life, and practice self compassion and tender loving care. There's a woman named Sarah Peyton who teaches this in depth, she has videos on here, and I am sure she's not the only one. I am learning this and am happier - and still alone - than I've been. I have hope now, but also I don't feel so alone/lonely.

Matt is talking about woman acting 'crazy' and how would that evaporate if they are dating someone who is making them feel safe. It reminds me of Oh Wonder song 'Drive', it goes: 'I remember all the times you made me covered in crazy. Can't forget it, all the ways you played me...' This is so true. I was acting totally different in different relationships. It's very important to realize what is our responsibility and what is not. So we can stop blaming ourselves.

    • @MyCrystalSwan
      @MyCrystalSwan 6 месяцев назад +1

Our behaviours are not as justifiable as our emotions though. Our emotions are valid. Always. Doesn't mean because of that that a wild "crazy" reaction/behaviour is justified. We should aim for control of our responses to certain situations, while it's okay to try to understand the emotions behind it and how it caused it. And to be able to look inward and be able to end something that we can finally realise isn't giving us that needed sense of emotional "safety".

Please never use scripted texts!!!!!!!! If you want a real relationship you have to be real! Recently I was talking to two guys via text, they used the exact same scripted text that said, "yeah, let's try to cook a meal together and after we burn through a couple pans we can just scrap it and go out to eat." There were several others. Instant turn off! If you are not intelligent enough to write your own texts, you shouldn't be dating.

I personally feel like I did this in my last relationship. You *might* have to be honest with yourself about the other individuals’ willingness to understand and work with you. I asked my ex for couples counseling 3x in our relationship. First he told me basically he thinks it’s just me. After some self progress and events in my relationship, I asked again and he said sure-you find the counselor, set the appointment and I’ll show up. Truthfully, that didn’t encourage me it would be a fruitful endeavor. Last time, he suggested it-after I sat down with him and told him I believe I wanted to end the relationship. Now I had a bad rebound situationship (one that taught me a TON so I don’t regret it and am actually super grateful for it), but still I don’t regret it.
Not saying that’s your journey-now though, I just asked someone I’ve been seeing for 2.5 months if he’d be up theoretically for that if I feel (or he) ever feels the need. And he said absolutely.
Just my experience, again, you may be different.
Someone committed to misunderstanding you, never will understand no matter how painstakingly you choose your words or attempt to regulate yourself. While with someone who is committed to understanding you and your internal context, you can use the “wrong” or “not the best” words and they still are there, for it all-“right” words or wrong.

My ex partner just did that, I think, looking back, he did express his needs in a healthy way and I did not notice. And then he expressed them in a big meltdown way that I sure noticed this time ;) but it triggered me which triggered him again then bang he broke up and ran. Just like that

I don't find a man's unavailability attractive, it doesn't make me want him even more if he gives me signs that he's not really interested, I don't think a man is valuable because he's hard to "get". However, for me chemistry, that physical, sexual attraction is very important in a couple. I can't be a couple with someone I don't have chemistry with, no matter how great he is as a person!

    Great conversation.
But still this version of Self love has flaws. My brain knows that if I have 'to love' myself' as a job, that means I don't. Though, it might be that after 50 years of actively doing the job, it would stop to be needed anymore, like the psychological bucket of self love would be full, and unlike physical cells that need food everyday, perhaps love being Psychological, doesn't. But then, this kind of self love is a process of conscious thinking, which is based on memory (as in, brain cells say- dressing nice is self love and brain cells being physical need Self love till the end.)
