- Last year during a trip home to the UK I was lucky enough to meet arcade owner Andy Palmer who shared his story on bringing Arcade Club UK (Europe's largest retro arcade with 300+ original classic games) to life!
Andy has been collecting games for years and years. His knowledge and love for the arcade collecting hobby is incredible.
Arcade Club UK features some amazing original cabinets including: Outrun deluxe, Ninja Warriors, Ridge Racer deluxe, Gauntlet 1 & 2, Star Wars cockpit, Tron, Asteroids, Joust and many more!
Huge thanks to Andy Palmer for his time showing me around Arcade Club UK. I loved every second I was there! And special thanks to my buddy Peter Appleyard for helping me out on the shoot.
If you enjoy the video please give it a like or leave a comment as I would love to know what you think.
Also, please give the channel a subscription to see future episodes.
Thanks for watching!
Cheers, Ben

People like this guy Andy Palmer are my personal heroes. I loved the arcades of the 80s and 90s and the idea of paying £16 to free-play a building full of machines all day is just genius.
Absolutely incredible place, i make the 2 hr round trip often. Andy Palmer is a fantastic guy, and all the staff do an great job. Im 48 now, and walk out if there feeling like im 14 again - Thats worth £16 of anyones money
so lucky to have this place on my doorstep. Manchester Arcade central of Europe who would have guessed it! Andy sounds like a top bloke too.
This man is an absolute legend. He has brought grown men back to their childhoods. Just been to the one in Blackpool - Well done Andy!
Watching this in 2022 and the part about 18:55 really hit home for me. I've seen every myriad of 'Retro Gaming' places pop up without seriously understanding why it's so powerful for alot of us. He hit the nail on the head with his comments here. Lovely video and I cannot wait to visit this place next month, it will be like a religious experience for me I'm sure.
Loved Smash TV on my SNES and Wonderboy was one of my fave arcades. I will have to visit one of these Arcade Clubs.
Andy I came to your original arcade club back when it was in rawtenstall, been to bury club over the years and seen the changes, so glad to see the club has come a long way I'll keep going and supporting the club. Can't wait to try Leeds and Blackpool.
love the games in this video
We went there 4 years ago all the way from malta , met Andy aswell nice bloke loved every second of it.
been a couple of times. Absolute heaven. Well done Andy, as a business owner in a different sector, this would be the absolute dream :-)
Wish I'd got off my backside years back and gone here. Great to have a place like this although I miss the days when every greasy spoon cafe and video shop had an upright or cocktail table arcade game.
Been to the Leeds one a few months ago. Great time, explored all three floors, VR was amazing and the food was great too!
Arcade club is covid compiant safe, good value for money. There is somthing for everybody from retro to the best shoot em ups of the current generation . The selection of games to try and experience is second to none. What Andy said...
The PCB's on the top floor are exactly like this vid describes.
Robocop (dataeast) 😁🍍
Love this place, can't wait to make a 3rd visit.
I've been to this arcade club in Bury many times, I'm 51 and still go to this place. for £15 entry and unlimited play at any of the hundreds of arcade machines. Will still go this place as long as i live. Who ever played arcades machines in the 80's will remember what fun it was. You will never reproduce the amaizing time i had at the arcades compare to a console or computer game.
Nice! I am a arcade fans from Hong Kong, will move to UK next year, will take time and have a visit.
really enjoyed the interview with the great andy palmer
Awsome video Ben. I visited it in April of 2018 whilst on holiday from Aus. Ceartinley didn't disapoint and incredible value given what's avaliable. Andy's a legend. Will have to visit your arcade the next time I'm in Sydney. Cheers
Thank you Andrew! I need to visit Arcade Club again when I next visit home. Please do give '89 a visit when you can, I would love to know what you think!
I cannot wait to visit Andy, all my dreams come true. Robotron 2084 is my fav game.
11:26 i did that when i first came to arcade club tbh, im going back for the 4th time this Friday
Next time I am back in the UK I am going to spend so much time at Arcade Club!
Great stuff! Enjoyed the interview
Thanks! Andy is a top guy. More coming soon!
Awesome episode! Can't wait to see what this channel has in store for us!
Thanks Ned! Next episode is a walk around a Sydney video game institution...
Going tomorrow can't wait ^^
Looks awesome, would love to visit some day!
Really good interview with Andy... Lucky for me and friends, we only live 15 minutes drive away from where Arcade 'Bury' Club is situated. You can easily get lost trying to find it though, even if you've been a few times before (lol)
amazing job Andy.....!! a couple of games Dragons Lair, Moon Cresta I didnt see on that tour you just did.... I'm sure you've got them though
Im not too close but it is about an hour drive from Bury and I've been there twice, it is a really awesome place. I've been there with my best friend in 2019 and 2020 and im going again this year, about 9-10 days until I go there. Really nice place, the icing on the cake would be making the outside look nice because it does look a bit shabby on the outside, other than that it is really really cool.
Fantastic start to what’s gonna be a beaut journey I reckon. Great to see an Aussie angle on the retro gaming scene. Thank you mate.
Thanks! A sydney based video coming next week!
@@1989ArcadeBar I'm visiting Sydney in a few days and def dropping past 1989 several nights. Any chance you can plug any other neat retro gaming joints to visit over the weekend Ben? Already planned to drop in to The Gamesmen. But yeah if you can recommend any other 'barcade' style joints it'd be much appreciated thanks. Keep the vidz comin.
@@SKT260873 Check out The Spooning Goats and Spawn Point in the CBD. Frankies Pizza for loads of pinball. Also there is an Esports bar called First Round Esports. The Gamesmen is a must do and there is Gametraders in Macarthur Square that sells a lot of retro. Let me know when you are visiting '89 so I can say hi! :-)
Rise of the Retro Arcade Awesome info. Got a couple tagged. I’ll be in Sydney Thur 11th - Sun 14th and plan to drop in to ‘89 most evenings. I’ll know you’re face so if you’re not too flat out itll be an honor to come say gday.
Love the videos, you should film 1up arcade in brisbane when you can. Will be well worth the trip for you i think
100% Up for that!
I can imagine there are some magical experiences all digital/streaming can never provide
Parents - "you wanna go to the video store and grab some movies tonight?"
Friday night - Got your walkman mix tape, ready to battle out some competitors with crowds at the local arcade.
I really miss the social aspect of gaming.
Hi was wondering what's in that Electrocoin Xenon Cab with the dedicated control panel? I've only ever seen them on a Centi..Think was either Street fighter or Rampage
Love 1989
Thanks for the love!
I have noticed that UK and Australian arcade cabinets had different kind of joysticks. Does anyone know who is their manufacturer and their name etc??? I would like to know. Thanks.
