The Christmas Retro Video Game Market Vol 7 - December 2022
The Christmas Retro Video Game Market Vol 7 at 1989 Arcade Bar had HEAPS of traders selling hundreds of retro video games and consoles both upstairs and downstairs throughout the ’89 arcade.
The ’89 arcade was on free play and the bar was slinging drinks!
A huge thank you to everyone who attended the market and our fantastic vendors who peddled their wares.
If you would like to sell your stuff at the next market please drop Ben at line at: hey@1989.com.au

New (old) Asteroids bezel art install
Просмотров 1553 года назад
I shot this video back in November 2020 and only got around to putting it together this week. Sorry folks! The Asteroids machine at '89 was without its bezel art for a few weeks! In this video I put it into the cab and take a look around the golden age of arcades in 1989 Arcade Bar. www.1989.com.au

Arcade Club UK tour with owner Andy Palmer
Loved Smash TV on my SNES and Wonderboy was one of my fave arcades. I will have to visit one of these Arcade Clubs.
Great video. I visited this place a few months back, under new management of course and renamed to Astros Arcade Bar. Still a great place for a beer and some classic retro gaming but I noticed many of the games in this video are not there anymore. Ben did you take some with you to a new Arcade related business perhaps? 🙂
Nice
I love time crisis 2! Looks like a fun place to be at 🍻
Always love the classic 😌👌 Thanks for uploading this! You just bring back another of my nostalgia! 😊
Do you still have this??
Classic
Been to the Leeds one a few months ago. Great time, explored all three floors, VR was amazing and the food was great too!
We went there 4 years ago all the way from malta , met Andy aswell nice bloke loved every second of it.
This man is an absolute legend. He has brought grown men back to their childhoods. Just been to the one in Blackpool - Well done Andy!
Hi was wondering what's in that Electrocoin Xenon Cab with the dedicated control panel? I've only ever seen them on a Centi..Think was either Street fighter or Rampage
Andy I came to your original arcade club back when it was in rawtenstall, been to bury club over the years and seen the changes, so glad to see the club has come a long way I'll keep going and supporting the club. Can't wait to try Leeds and Blackpool.
It was a great day! :)
Make a micro machines display built into the bar beneath the glass
Hit right in the childhood! I would love going to arcades to see if they had any house of the dead games and play for hours. They had HOTD 2 at a local roller rink in the late 90s early 2000s and I remember only skating until other kids were done playing so I can jump back on. Good times 😊
Why don't you change the controller colors for example if it's player 1 it should be red and then player 2 is blue
Awsome video Ben. I visited it in April of 2018 whilst on holiday from Aus. Ceartinley didn't disapoint and incredible value given what's avaliable. Andy's a legend. Will have to visit your arcade the next time I'm in Sydney. Cheers
Thank you Andrew! I need to visit Arcade Club again when I next visit home. Please do give '89 a visit when you can, I would love to know what you think!
Never knew the original Double Dragon PCB was hard to find these days! I got one for $25 way back when I first started arcade collection in the year 2000! Don't have it anymore, as I now have a Mame machine, but still though!
Heck yeah! A lot of PCB's more recently have slowly crept up in price. What a game!
@@1989ArcadeBar I know, really! Like when, and how'd that happen I wonder too? 2011 was the last year I ever bought an arcade PCB, which I sold all of in order to pay for my Mame machine. Even other boards I'd be able to get for under $50 back then cost AT LEAST double (maybe even triple) than that these days as well! Crazy isn't it!?
Nice! I am a arcade fans from Hong Kong, will move to UK next year, will take time and have a visit.
Watching this in 2022 and the part about 18:55 really hit home for me. I've seen every myriad of 'Retro Gaming' places pop up without seriously understanding why it's so powerful for alot of us. He hit the nail on the head with his comments here. Lovely video and I cannot wait to visit this place next month, it will be like a religious experience for me I'm sure.
I have noticed that UK and Australian arcade cabinets had different kind of joysticks. Does anyone know who is their manufacturer and their name etc??? I would like to know. Thanks.
Absolutely incredible place, i make the 2 hr round trip often. Andy Palmer is a fantastic guy, and all the staff do an great job. Im 48 now, and walk out if there feeling like im 14 again - Thats worth £16 of anyones money
Love this place, can't wait to make a 3rd visit.
Bro I can't wait to visit. Your place looks epic!
I've been to this arcade club in Bury many times, I'm 51 and still go to this place. for £15 entry and unlimited play at any of the hundreds of arcade machines. Will still go this place as long as i live. Who ever played arcades machines in the 80's will remember what fun it was. You will never reproduce the amaizing time i had at the arcades compare to a console or computer game.
The Finnish Museum of Games
Great video! All retro arcade cabinets look great but unfortunately they will fade as CRT tubes have limited lifetime . Imho it is very important to save the spirit of old-style arcade gaming and rethink arcade gaming on a new hard and software basis. As a DIY fan I am trying to move in this direction. Here is my current project where I tried to compile new game controller and elements of two classic arcades : Ice-Cold Beer and Pack-Man: ruclips.net/video/o3Gv_fSsfes/видео.html
Absolutely love House of the dead 2 great video 😎⭐️⭐️
Awesome
Cheers, Ben - awesome video and great backstory. Keen to visit ‘89 on my next trip to Sydney in June from the States! Glad you’re also a fan of and feature Windjammers :)
One of the all time greatest arcade games. Awesome find.
Going tomorrow can't wait ^^
Really good interview with Andy... Lucky for me and friends, we only live 15 minutes drive away from where Arcade 'Bury' Club is situated. You can easily get lost trying to find it though, even if you've been a few times before (lol)
Is it sale now??
your a legend for opening this bar up, street fighter 2 mortal kombat, and nba jam where big hits in the nineties.
Thank you Kane! Hope to see you in there one day?
Nice pickup
Looks brilliant!!
I cannot wait to visit Andy, all my dreams come true. Robotron 2084 is my fav game.
been a couple of times. Absolute heaven. Well done Andy, as a business owner in a different sector, this would be the absolute dream :-)
a lot of incorrect information when it comes to inputs for moves :/
Amazing collection! Btw: The Ninja Movies didn’t all suck, Sho Kosugi put out a couple of fun films, Revenge of the Ninja, Pray for Death and Rage of Honour and Michael Dudikoff had American Ninja 1&2 which were entertaining.
Love this Arcade bar! Spend way to much every time I got out there.
Thanks for the love!!
If I didn't literally live 13,000 km away, I would be a fixture in your arcade bar! And I wouldn't play through Double Dragon by just using the elbow strike, scouts honor!
Maybe one day when the world returns to the 'new normal'... fingers crossed
The voice acting is quite amazing for its time
True, such a fantastic game
Very cool place!
Thank you!
Charming pentagram on the ceiling! May Jesus Christ of Nazareth have mercy on you!
I know... hopefully some of our regulars are not to deep into the dark arts!
If you don't like the decor then don't visit. The themes of some of the games will probably also be distasteful to you. God forbid you witness a Fatality on Mortal Kombat
@@davidcrane2909 Kind of like Heaven right, David? If you don't like the decor don't visit!? I guess thats why the passage says "there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth." God is always a punchline until it's too late!
Wow, I wouldn't have thought it was possible to 1CC this game, at least from my own experience. I can never get too far through it but damn is it fun!
very 1ccable, I've done it on hardest with all chars except kurosawa. Mostly all cps2 games are able to 1cc.
Good to see an update Ben. Best wishes from the team at Play Leisure.
Thanks guys! Hope you are keeping well.
Fantastic to see your bar Ben. Its also great to have a retro arcade bar in Sydney. I am looking forward to dropping by. I will also consider your event room for my next birthday! Hope to see you on the other side of the lockdown.
Thanks Gavin, looking forward to seeing you at 1989 hopefully soon!
