I remember meeting him when we did Why We Bang and talking to him, I was surprised by his story of coming to the hood and demanding to be put on, some wild shit, but I was even more surprised at how smart this kid was. I bet he’s like a genius and shit. A lot of nights banging like maniacs are highly intelligent black man and for some reason that find their passion in banging. Not a fan of gangs but this society don’t leave much for young strong and driven black men to take hold of and call theirs. So I get it. I just wish we had other avenues for this power and talent, as is its wasted and its self defeating.
