I wanted to do a quick video on a pinch weld mod to clear some slightly larger than stock tires. 32" for example. This is a common place for the tires to rub when you go 1 size bigger (265/75/r16 for example). It's a quick easy mod. Hope you like it.
Tools I Used:
Angle Grinder with cut off wheel amzn.to/30QOPyU
3lb sledgehammer amzn.to/36p1KsI

Did you put the fender liner back in place?
Just received my Nankang n889 265/75/16 and definitely way bigger than the 265/70/16 currently on my 99sr5. Probably be doing this mod as they measure little over 32" but listed as 31.7". Anyway shtz definitely getting real. Thanks for the information.
Doing this on my '12 Jeep Liberty right now
sweet
Helpful video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! I got another one clearing bigger tires where I hammer it some more lol
Thank you for the video.
no problem! sorry for late response.
How do you take off those little black clips
Flat head probably
I have 265/75/r16 mud tires on my 2000 limited stock rims and absolutely no rubbing. 33s will rub like rubbing alcohol for sure.
I was running 1.25" spacers so I caused it to run sometimes there.
My 98 had 33s with no lift and no spacers but it had the 99 suspension that is taller than the rest😁
What wheels did you have?
@@PhoRunner stock wheels
Be careful on driver side when trying to cut. There are wires very close to frame.
I'm asking the same question! How has this question been asked a million times and there still isn't a document explaining everything you need to know lol
Lmao
I'm looking to put 33x11.5x20 on a Nissan armada will they fit with a 2.5" leveling kit???
I have no clue haha check some Nissan fb groups
i did this and it still rubs the fender… did you have to heat it to shape?
I didn’t do anything but you might want to limit the up travel so it doesn’t hit the fender. Bump stops can help. I just posted a video on it
Do you think my 02’ with 3in bilstein ome lift will rub after this muod for 285/70r17
With the 4th gen steel wheels (30mm) offset
Seems like you’ll hit stuff with 30mm offset. Might not be able to mount your wheels
Perfect description of Facebook groups 😂
Lol
Thanks for the video, so will 33" tires fit on my 3rd gen 4runner?
my 32's rub with TRD rims and 1.25" spacers. so probably not
They definitely will, slight rubbing on the front bumper but just trim it a little. Spacers make them rub more. I just cut mine with hedge trimmer
Lol
Im new to owning a 3rd gen, is that all it takes to fitting 285/70r17s under there? Will a 2” lift suffice or do I have to go 3”?
I would go 3” for least amount of issues
@@PhoRunner gotcha 🙏🏼 any brand recommendations that get me 3” just not rough country hah
Eibach, Toytec superflex, ome. All seem to work fine
@@PhoRunner right on thank you 🙏🏼
It works!! Lol
Knocking this small project out this weekend. Running “skinny” 255/85/16 on tundra 16” steelies. Rubs on the fender apron after my new alignment was set. Pretty hilarious seeing people’s faces in parking decks when it rubs. Sounds like the whole truck is falling apart lol
awesome!
Hey man trying to find out if the trail wheels will clear with 285/70r17s on the 3rd gen 4runner with ome 2in lift? Cant really fimd much info on it online.
Probably will be close. Id say it rubs though
Haha nvm I did some more digging. Found out they won't unless u have aftermarket Ucas
@@redlinerokr you'll want to set your caster properly. My 265/70 (32s') rubbed with the TRD pro wheels because the alignment wasn't done right.
2000 4runner -i have 265/75/16 street tires with stock wheels, stock upper a-arm. Can i do the mods on rear and cut front bumper and run 285/75/16 without going to adj arm? Im being told it only gives you 1" differance with adj arm.
The 1” is a big difference. You’ll probably rub without a lift upfront. It’s tight with 33s
PhoRunner Channel I left out the part of a 3” lift with Bilstein struts and springs
@@davidjones9825 should be ok without SPC. you'll maybe have to trim the front bumper a tiny.
PhoRunner Channel without wheel spacers?
If you got 5 star, it will probably clear barely. The split 6 will probably hit the upper arm balljoint with 285
Just lifted mine about 2.5-3” and have new 17” wheels with 0 offset. Do you think I’d rub? Mine is a 99 4Runner
Shouldn’t. Might be close to that upper control arm though
I'm triggered. I have 35s on 15 inch rims.
Lol I’m not at your level yet
Why not just chop it off entirely?
It holds 2 pieces together so folding it keeps the integrity and strength
Will I still need to beat up the pinch weld if I'm on 3in lifted with pro comp series 252 steel wheel with some 285/75/16?
Depends on the offset. Probably not too much.
Offset is -6
You should be ok. Depends on your caster also. Beating the pinch weld is easy and cheap though
If I add a 1.25 spacers all around would I still need to beat it? I'm nee to this lol
@@sonyyang95 it might rub. can't say for sure. you shouldn't need spacers with that offset though.
Hit it with your purse 👛 lol
Lol
You can run 33’s with no “lift” what do you think happens when your suspension compresses when you are “lifted”. Bad info there but kudos for the pinch weld video
Well most people aren’t fully flexing their rides so usually not a huge issue until you start hitting stuff daily driving
The way a man swings a hammer says a lot about him...
Lol I got an air hammer now.
