These comments are really disappointing. It worries me how Haley would feel if she read all these. The issue isn't the song, it's that she hasn't found a group of dedicated fans yet. Everybody comes from Postmodern Jukebox and expects more screaming vocals. The reality is that she may admire those songs, but they aren't what she wants _her_ music to be. Being a fan of Haley requires that you love a lot of music because she experiments so much with so many styles. That's what allows her to discover what she truly loves. As for me, I think this song is amazing.

Haley could sing a pizza shop menu and would her voice would still keep me mesmerized. In all honesty, though, I do love these songs. This one, in particular, takes me back to my teen years. It has a very 90's vibe to it. But it is unfair to blast people for not digging. Everything is subjective and not feeling a song is not a criticism of someone. That is why we have favourite songs, because we gravitate more towards certain songs than other ones. Bill Ferri absolutely! One of the main reasons I like Hailey's work is her appreciation of older music and unique music styles and how she stays away from status-quo pop. Bossa nova is an incredible use of her voice and I could listen to this song on repeat because that's why you listen to bossa nova--to relax on a smooth ride, like floating down a long calm river in the sun.
++Bill Ferri Some people, myself included, just don't like Bossa Nova in general. Understanding has nothing to do with it. It seems to have been largely a passing fad I'm glad to say. The Girl from Ipanema, Desafinado etc. you can keep them, even if Stan Getz is playing. I find generally the rhythms very repetitive, and I didn't enjoy this although Haley's singing is fine. I enjoyed much more her version with Casey at Jazz in the Pines, Idyllwild, this summer. There's more improvising and some great scatting, and Casey's bass adds a lot to it for me.
