Based on Alex Lifeson himself's own tutorial, this tab seems by far the most accurate on the rhythm part.(some slightly different positions on the solo).
I think the chords you are referring are the ones on the intro. These are '7sus' chords. Rush has very complex songs. They certainly use a lot of unusual chord shapes...
Thanks man! Tbh I don't remember what I used and I lost the project file, unfortunetely... For the amp, I probably used an Marshall type simulation, but I don't remember if I used any effects, probably not. On the solo I remember using a slapback delay.
I've been listening to and going to see Rush live since the mid 80s. Started playing guitar three years ago and I never realized how much guitar is in this song, and how awesome the guitar parts are? The synthesizer is what sticks in my mind, but luckily not any more! You're an incredible player! I'll probably never be able to play this as well, but I'll keep trying!! Thank you for the video:)
Wow, thank you so much! I'm glad that my videos can help other people to become better guitar players! I'm sure you can be great at It, we always tend to think less of ourselves. Keep on going on going on your guitar journey my friend! 💛
I concur! Been listening to and going to Rush shows since MP and this single video has really opened my eyes to the intricacies of the guitar. I watched that tutorial Alex did, years ago, and it didn't even phase me, but I'm blown away by this. I was looking at your hands while you played and the way you hold your pic and fret notes is dramatically different than how Alex does. Alex seems to bury the pick in his hands or cover the strings with the back of his hand, blocking the strings he's picking from view. And his fret hand playing has become really physically economical and honestly, not particularly dynamic visually, but that's how HE plays. From a learning by sight perspective, I preferred your technique. Much more open and transparent allowing us to clearly see both your picking and fretting hands which allows us to join the music our ears are hearing with the guitar we are seeing. Oh yeah, and it sounded great, clear and bright and not clouded out by that horrible rhythm section and keyboards. Who even needs those guys?

I really like the sound you managed to create! How is your signal chain made up?
