The one who is considering the cobalt eight, go ahead and get it. I bought mine thinking I would keep it as a trial and then send it back. I ended up keeping it. I also recommend the 61 key. Some of the best keyboard action I’ve played in a while
This was a sweet tutorial - it actually answered a lot of my questions and quelled my frustrations. I'm getting a lot better at layering my sequences in real time because of this video! Please do one on the nuances of the step sequencer! Great vid!
Is it possible for the patch to saved in the sequence? Also, if one changes the sequence in the app from Realtime to Step Seq, the sequence no longer plays and it must be reloaded. Your TOC entries in the manual do not link to the sections. Is there no CC to start/stop the sequencer.
Why use a realtime sequencer: Because I get inspired as I'm playing...not by looking for a pre-recorded sequence! My only disappointment with Cobalt is you can't TRANSPOSE a sequence after you've recorded it. That's one of the key features of a sequencer in my opinion. I wonder if they could add this as a feature later...
Awesome, thanks. I’m saving for a Cobalt 8! So, with Cobalt as a midi slave, it will play the sequence queued up when I hit play on the midi master, right?
Nice to have 100 sequence patch places to costumize, to synthesize, to,......... I like the over 1 minute longer video ,.. you could call it Modals 7.07 minute video's tutorial. To stay in the jargon of Modal.
Hello, great features! I love the machine! I’m using my Mpc One as the main sequencer and it records and sequencers all of the midi cc’s very well. But I’m having an issue with the program changes it makes while going through menu’s. It sometimes will load a sequence automatically. There must be a way to get control over this. I was going though the manual, maybe I overlooked this. Sorry to ask this here.. Is there a way (in stand alone mode) to turn off the (auto-)sequencer?
Why use real time sequencing? Ask Vangelis (sadly, not anymore). Step sequencing and quantising can sound horrible if not done” properly”. I never use them. Then again, no one did in the ‘70, when DAWS didn’t exist.
thanks james 4 your straight forward and comfy style of passing on your knowledge to us newby synthesizerists ,cobyate owners .ive been a muso 4 forty years, played gat, bass, drums but never synth till now.i always saw synth as VERY expensive & full of calculations im too stupid to grasp.MODAL has changed that with cobyate.with a pricetag no calculator needed synth 4 anyone willing to DIVE in and have a go.modal has a place in my heart that "moag"korg and rolands dinosaur domination never touched.gamechanger foreal forever 🫀💋🏴☠️😝
Just Love The Sound Of The Modal's
James is the best!

Praying that their new keyboards will come with a bigger display.
Can you tie notes?
I see the settings are different on the cobalt 8x
cool
How many layers or tracks you can do with this ?can this be done on the 8m as well ?
Not quite sure what you actually mean. Would you please contact our product experts via support@modalelectronics.com to get your question answered?
@@ModalElectronics you was displaying the overdub function. Is there a limit to stack instruments on top of one another ?
how could I sync cobalt 8 and argon 8 together what cables do I need? And how could I record it
direct to my daw
Hi, this is a perfect question for our product expert. You can email him via support@modalelectronics.com
You can sync via Midi AFAIK. Recording to you DAW can be done with the App or with an AudioInterface AFAIK.
Also: I wish the metronome could be set to only play during the pre-roll!
You can turn on/off the metronome so if you wanted to dub over yoyr sequence you don't need to have the metronome in Rec mode
Can you one shot the sequence so it can be recorded into a sampler with the release tails not getting recorded over by the start of the loop again?
