This reminds me on a conversation I heard on Thinking Basketball. When you have better players you don't have to complicate your offense because your players are either more skilled or more athletic than your opponent. But it's when you have limitation that you need to work around that help foster creative offensive and defensive schemes.. Maybe your players are shorter or slower and you need to create a plan for switching. Maybe people on your team can't shoot or are getting beat by multiple defenders,, and you need to create situation where the defense is forced to switch or having off ball offenders being more active to creat more open looks.
