I love this movie. I even had it on laser disc, lol (actually, laser discs were beautifully crisp and clear. I miss them) I've also seen it like 6 times, and I just now noticed Bukowski himself sitting at the bar. It only took me 36 years... 😅
If you read "Hollywood" by Bukowski (which was about the making of this movie) he addresses that directly. And you're right he wasn't pleased about a supposed drunk leaving something at the bar
The heyday of this kind of erratic behavior ended in Late 70s people like this eventually had reality catch up to them they crashed and burned bars like this get enough 911 calls get their liquor license pulled places like this were usually barely Financially able to stay open anyways
What totally sucks is when the perverts raid your room because they stole your key then told you after how much a dirt bag you are that your supposed to feel sorry about 4 wars and 3 divorces. They then piss on your rug. and call you a bum.
Mickey Rourke looked and acted the part, but Faye Dunaway was a miscast. She looked and acted Hollywood glamorous. The rough around the edges quality she was supposed to have was not believable, in my opinion.
He was a famous writer he did not waste anything. Who's potential did he waste? Not his certainly. Drunken poet was his calling in life he was successful.
One of my favorite lines of all time: "Do you hate them?.... No..,but I seem to feel better when they're not around"
Me too! One of my all time favorite lines...Yes!!
Yeah, it's got me this far from 17 years old......
My Favourite line of all time . I say it too people even too this day . 😂❤
Just read Bukowski
@@Kraeuterkeule That's what I thought, just watched Barfly for the 100th time
"No money, no job, no ride." "Hey, back to normal.". Talk like that takes character.
Yes ❤😂 Mickey Rourke has bucket loads of that .
One of my all-time favorite movies since the first time I've seen it way back in the day.

"How come nobody sits next to her?""Because she's crazy.""Crazy.. oh."Me, every time I hear someone talk about a woman I'm attracted to.
no job no rent, back to normal haha love that
Haha yeah, and he got Faye Dunaway, gotta love it
Yup🚬🥃
Love the old mickey true acting genius 👏 👌
the real Charles Bukowski, the writer of this all, in a cameo at the bar...
3:53 Bukowski
I really doubt hed leave a half drunk beer at a bar.
Always bugged me.
If you read "Hollywood" by Bukowski (which was about the making of this movie) he addresses that directly. And you're right he wasn't pleased about a supposed drunk leaving something at the bar
Hell no, that's alcohol abuse! Lol
When Marlon Brando and James Dean died they begged God to please let them come back as Mickey Rourke!!!😍😂
If only real life was like this. You're broke but a pretty lady wants you to go to her place.
It is like this - every once and a while
Don't kid yourself.
@@jimf. I am not kidding myself - I am sorry you can't say the same which is why you could only question my answer.

Great upload. May the Gods bless you.
Faye Dunaway's best role,
I was in my twenties when this came out.
Gotta be the coolest dumpster dude, and I love his laugh! 👍👏
Faye is perfect
Damn looks like Henry came up. He got himself a woman and some booze for the night...
Adds the Cigars🤣Wilbur knows.
I love corn....
‘People? Yeah, I like people. I just feel better when they’re not around!’ - The Misanthropes Creed
The best line ever!!!
My wife said to me long time ago don’t let me watch this ever again
🤣🤣
Dude you took my line :)
Charles Bukowski can be seen at the bar @ 3:28. I worked on this film. The supporting cast may be the worst ever for this Cannon film.
This is why I fell madly in LOVE with my present wife hahhahhaha
I wish somebody gave me fair warning that the last woman I sat next to was crazy.🍺🍸🍾🍷🍻😣😝
Just assume everyone is.

GAAAHD DAAAAAAAMIT!
thank you for this
Who misse the bukowski cameo?
Crazy ohhh
Left that beer half full tho 😬. You got to shotgun that bro ! LOL
Obviously this movie didn't have the funds to retake the scene.
It took 7 years to get fully funded before it got greeenlit.
Even Bukowski said something to the director about this!
@@BrendanAndThings I just love how this bar is dark and quiet unlike the other
Exactly! Lol
@@michellelambert8729 I been watching these scenes over and over again for the last two weeks LOL! Makes want to go to a dark dive bar lol
Other bar was red
This one is blue

Don't try.

For me.Rourke over played Bukowskis distinctive vocal intonation ,actually detracts form the content.
I've seen some beautiful women at 'dive bars'. And I'm not talking about 'closing time' beauty.
They were both brilliant.
The background is too dark! Can't see a damn thing!
I like it’s. Sets the mood of the scene
Have someone at your nursing home adjust the brightness on your TV
