  • A plastic mirror frame makeover with Chalk Paint. Creating a texture by dabbing the paint in, using Dry Brushing Technique and Decorative Waxes to achieve an old sophisticated look of the plastic mirror frame.
For this project I am using Annie Sloan chalk paint: 'french linen', 'old ochre" and clear and white waxes.

Isn't her work wonderful. I am trying to do this stuff now. It is incredibly satisfying to do it yourself. I am just starting out.

Thank you for making this video tutorial. I love the way that your plastic frame turned out, it's so beautiful, and it certainly doesn't look like it's made of plastic. I've just bought a similar frame and I want to paint it and then make clay mouldings, in my silicone moulds, to glue around the sides and corners of the frame. I'm going to use chalk paint on it, like you did on your frame, but I was wondering if I need to sand the frame first before painting it or can I just paint it without any preparation? Also, after I've finished painting and decorating the frame, what should I use to seal my project?Wax maybe, or a spray on matte sealer? Thanks for your help. Love from Amanda Jones in Australia xox ❤

Hello, Amanda from Australia!!! thank you for watching. I normally do not sand, the chalk paint sticks quite well to any surface. Any finish will do, it is not a high traffic surface, just to dusting it now and then.
