  • Sooner or later, all carpenters have a question, what to do with wood scraps? Or another situation, I want to make a table for myself, but finances do not allow. To your attention, a project made of garbage, how do you like the result? #asmr

I once made a similar table top when I was working for a kitchen manufacturer. I took scrap pieces of oak, ash, cherry, maple, rosewood and pine and fitted them together like a jigsaw during my breaks. Didn’t have access to resin back then so the pieces had to fit together well. The boss liked it so much he had a base made for it and bought it from me for £1000 (a lot of money back then), even though it was his wood and his machinery that I’d used. When fully assembled and lacquered though it looked great and I was really proud of the result.

True. If it was his wood and put together during his time, by all rights, that was his table to begin with. He must've really liked you. @@deanmartin6052

This video is an absolute representation of trust the process. When he started cutting into the stair-step look I thought, "What the hell?!" As I decided to see the video through, I saw the beauty of his art. From free to that is amazing! Can't help but wonder how much he sold it for and his long the full process took!

I saved my scraps from a basement Reno. I figured I can always craft something. Also, in an emergency, it makes good firewood.

Great project and it's right up my alley. I always tell people that more often than not everything you need in terms of materials is all around, sometimes under your feet. The best part is it's usually free. The hardest part is having enough insight or intuition to realize the possibilities and skills to turn nothing into something.

I actually love the way you bribed the wood to give it a color that’s unique I would think to that type of wood. The concept and design is creative and to think it’s all from scrap wood is a plus! Thanks for sharing.

I agree. I wonder if the top would've looked better had he glued the pieces the other way, not showing the edge pieces. I know there's a "word" for the edges, I just can't think of it. I think it would've looked smoother. It was still awesome tho.
