Man: Its a pleasure to be of service to a blonde American..
Mae: Ummm, call your own shots, do ya?
Miss West's writing skills were phenomenal. You really have to watch her movies numerous times to really hear all her jokes and innuendo. Everytime I watch a clip or movie, there is a new line I had t heard before. That is the genius of Mae West.... almost a century later, and her material still turns heads and is heard as fresh. Love the Mae Fixx

Great one liners, Mae West. My favorite...
    Mae: He’s quite the gent.
    Escort: Gentleman.
Mae: That’s okay. I was just abbreviating.

I just re-watched the clip and I realized I have never seen one woman whisper something and another woman's ear with one of her hands on that woman's bust. That's pretty funny

Thanks for mentioning. Just rewatched and that is funny! And no accident either, knowing how they slipped things in to get past the censors.

It is quite evident from this that, by 1935, the infamous Hayes Office had compelled Mae West to tone her dialogue down a great deal. Nevertheless, they could do nothing to tone down her attitude. She gave the censors fits, but the audiences lived her.

    Who won the horse race?

  • @roderickmatheson2770

to put 20,000 on a horse in 1935 would be like half a million today I'm sure.
