- Nice drive down small section of Grimselpass on the southern side.
Car is a mostly stock 1992 FD RX-7.
GoPro Hero 8 2.7k 60fps and an eBay gopro copy for the pedal cam.
I want to learn how to drive that smoothly especially now that I got my hands on my dream car (WRX STI). Love you’re driving and the scenery. 😊
Thank you very much, mate!
Practice makes perfect 😉
that double clutching was a beauty to watch
Thank you!
More coming soon
Can you explain why he did that? I'm just learning how to drive
@@hssaugat1589
Thanks for watching!
If you check some of the other comments there's some details on the double clutching.
Cheers,
Sam.
@@samdrinkstea found it. Thanks.
Beautiful car and cool owner. I just followed him in the city and he was kind enough to take time for me and let me see his RX7. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤
so glad to finally someone that actually knows how to drive a manual, always double clutch on the downshifts, makes such a difference, great driving man, I hope this video blows up!
Thank you so much!!
New vid up now
what sense does this make in a modern car?
@@Siwy-fd4vg this makes sense for every car, modern or classic, does not matter
@@doria500 why?
@@Siwy-fd4vg just search for double clutching technique, too long to write about
holy wow i have never seen such beautiful roads
I actually spend more time watching you double clutching than your driving and the scenery. 😂 It's so nicely done and I hope to temporarily break the usual clutching habit and learn a bit of double clutching. Have to replay your video multiple times to enjoy every single details of it, really nice road that is!
Thank you!
I'll post some more soon once I've overlayed the pedal cam
Why is he double clutching?
@@michakasprzak6869 It prevents wear on the synchros
amazing foot work....
Thank you!
POV: You're a passenger and you're scared.
Meanwhile, the navigator in the Monte Carlo rally: pffff easy
Double clutch downshifting plus heel and toe, okay, both my brain and my foot can't proceed both...
Haha lots of practice!
Thank you for the comment.
holy shit wtf is that footwork
need longer video,...love watching you drive~
Longer vids are coming... I promise! Haha.
They're too big and I can't fit them on my laptop at the moment, but I'll solve that soon.
Thank you for the nice comments 😊
@@samdrinkstea can't wait!
@@yangli2014 new vid up now
That footwork is so smooth damn
Thank you! 😊
Double clutching is not required in modern cars but I'm guessing you can do it anyway.
Not much is required in modern cars! Thanks for the comment 🙂
WHAT A ROAD
A Stick Shifter is a Stick Shifter 😌
I wish the video was longer
Longer vids coming soon 👍🏼

Sorry for the noob question but why do you have to double clutch and not just rev match with one press of the clutch? Is it because the car is fairly old or there are other reasons, thanks!
Hi, thanks for the comment!
The double clutching technique is so that the input shaft of the gearbox is accelerated with the engine speed with the throttle blip. This means the synchro has a little less work to do when the gear is engaged.
It isn't necessary to double clutch in a gearbox with synchos, but I learned it very young and it's habit for me now.
Cheers
@@samdrinkstea Got it! Thanks for the reply!
Bro got the type r shift knob wtf
This boy knows knobs
Question, i see when you clutch in you let off and hold then release after a while. Is that the engagement point you're waiting on or is the clutch very stiff?

@@samdrinkstea appreciate it! Didn't even realize you were double clutching. Must be a dream to drive that beauty.
that looks very steep, what's the gradient?
Lovely foot work! An uncommon sight but a pleasure to witness done right these days.
You are braver than I am, i'm keen to visit with my car but I hear that enjoying your car in Switzerland is illegal and punishable by death (just joking lol). Are the strict laws and disproportionately heavy fines as bad as they say?
Thank you for the nice comment!!
Let's say that if you're in busy areas, it's best to be very careful, but if you're in quieter areas away from the main roads, you can get a little freedom. Only within the speed limit, of course 😉
Stop short-shifting and make the 13b sing!
Haha thanks for the comment, Nate!
Unfortunately in this vid I was being gentle to manage oil temperature... stock single oil cooler 😔
@@samdrinkstea Haha I see. Guess you've got twin coolers now?
@@Zsword92 things are changing a little bit. Just taking longer than planned, but new vids and more old vids coming soon.

Thanks for the comment!
Why so low rpm bruh
My dude, your braking is slow and pointless!
Thanks for the comment, bud!
I'll do my best to speed things up for you next time!
@@samdrinkstea Lmao, no no! You drive and enjoy yourself however you please. It just baffles me why people do the opposite of racing theory "simplify, simplify, simplify" and add wasteful movement to their driving. It's not a big rig or a classic racecar with no synchros. Unless you lack the precision to release the clutch or you somehow destroyed most of your synchros, then you're wasting time. Love the car! Rotary driver for 20 years :)!
@@AJ-kc9up Even if you’re not “racing” or driving a “big rig” you can still practice a little bit of mechanical sympathy by utilising techniques like double clutching.
@@AJ-kc9up oh, so you don't like the double clutching... I thought it was the braking you didn't like...
Funny you mention racing, that's where I picked up the habit, but maybe I needed you 20 odd years ago to help me down the right path.
Good luck teaching people your racing theory when they haven't signed up for your course, that seems like a tough gig! 👍🏼
@@samdrinkstea Lol no need to be an insecure d*ck about it 😆
