That said, if Nina had a low level supe for Kimiko and Frenchie to fight before escaping I would have loved that
Not surprised by that. In a world with superheroes, vought probably funds quite a phew of these organizations - not only for black market deals and off the record enforcers, but just in general keeping “villains” around for heroes to defeat and eat up publicity
There was a news story on the TV about Supersonic dying of a drug overdose. And Annie brings up the murder while secretly recording Homelander, so if people believe her they know.
So while Irving may be dead my money is on Black Noir coming back next season. None of the media was mourning his death so Homelander is probably going to stuff someone else into the suit and act like he never died
I thought of all the parallels in this season, the most unintentionally timely allegory was HLs speech to Maeve about her body. A scene written and filmed MONTHS ahead of the Roe overturn. Holy shit.
I think the Deep was really good in Season 2. The whole „corporate metoo redemption“ story with the cult and stuff, that was really good. The current season definetly didn‘t do anything as good with him, tho.
When we got soldier boy vs homelander in episode 6 I was surprised I was thinking that's something that would happen in episode 8. But how episode 8 turned out it made perfect sense.
The relationship between Kimiko (in the comics she is only referred to as The Female (of the species)) and Frenchie in the comics is very much a Father/Daughter type of dynamic. She is a surly, non-communicative teenager and the only person she really trusts in the world is Frenchie because he was the first person she can ever remember treating her like a human being. Out of curiosity I went and read the entire run of The Boys and it was fascinating to see what was departure, what was homage and what was tweaked. Suffice to say, Black Noir is VERY different in the comics.
I hope the irony is not lost on people at the end of the season, when someone calls Homelander a fascist, and Homelander immediately proves him right, by forcibly putting down his opposition. And America cheers.
The Bobby Singer thing is not only a nod for Supernatural fans. Eric Kripke (showrunner of the Boys) created Supernatural and was showrunner for 5 seasons 5
This season was good but that finale could have used some work. Like the Starlight thing just showed that her power is basically worthless, like even at max power couldn't give Soldier Boy a sunburn or something? And Maeve sacrificing herself only to not even really be dead, even though if the explosion didn't kill her it would have taken her powers and the fall would have killed her.
41:43 Honestly I feel much the same as Kaiser in this aspect that I’m glad they didn’t pursue a romantic relationship between Frenchie and Kimiko. Being that for Samurai Jack’s final season, as much as I still enjoyed it, I would’ve much preferred if Jack and Ashi never started a romantic relationship like the show had them do since I thought they worked a lot better as a student/mentor or even father/daughter relationship instead.
I like Umbrella Academy but I feel like it’s too formulaic. “Lets work together. Proceeds to do the opposite. 5 goes progress the plot, Klaus goes somewhere random and figures out how op he is, Luther has a relationship plot, Allison tries to keep it together but not really, Viktor goes through self discovery, and Diego does whatever.”
My run down I finally watched all the Yu-gi-oh dub even went through the first 20 episodes of Sevens current series that’s been dubbed. Also, Rip Kazuki Takahashi he created a series that really stuck with me when I was a kid and grew to appreciate more as an adult.
I was oddly on Soldier Boy side since I see Homelander as a bigger monster. Anyway, A-Train taking out Bluehawk, bring me so much enjoy in this dark times
Yeah the idea that Soldier Boy should ever be the priority when he's the only conceivable way to take down Homelander was just... painfully stupid. You wannt kill Soldier Boy? Sure, he deserves it. Just fucking WAIT until he's killed Homelander.
Its endlessly infuriating to me that killing Soldier boy was ever prioritised by anyone over killing Homelander. That no one ever said to MM "hey, just let him kill Homelander first". That in the last episode, everyone who gets put in the vault is just lile "alright fuck it we're going after Soldier Boy first". WHY!? There is no reason they should be that stupid. Soldier Boy is the only conceivable way to kill Homelander and they're willing to throw that away for no reason. Just _wait_ until after. Butcher protecting Ryan was the only time it ever made sense. But besides that, let them fight and then kill whoever is left standing (and presumably weakened). Its so infuriating how stupid everyone was this season.
Him killing homelander wasnt the problem it was the fact each they fought was in an incredibly public place and had the potential to kill dozens of innocent ppl is why they continuesly tried to stop soldier boy
You should watch the last episode again, the issue wasn’t that the boys were against soldier boy killing homelander, they were against SB killing Homelander at the expense of the thousands of people working at vought tower who would’ve died if SB had used his atomic explosion power
I'm so frustrated at the whole huey vs Annie debate over temp V. Huey's argument should've been about how much more he can help. How Annie and Huey wouldve died S1 if A-Train's heart didn't give out. How Homelander needs to be stop somehow and she can't do it alone. Instead they made him being toxic masculinity.
@@francescocostanzo8225 toxic Masculinity is kinda the theme of the whole season. Butchers dad toxic Soldier Boy toxic homelander toxic. The problem is Huey was trying to fix problems like the toxic people in the show but he should try to fix things his way.
The whole thing about that final scene with Homelander: that scene ACTUALLY occurred on Fifth Avenue in NYC. The makers fully went all in on that parallel by having that scene occur EXACTLY where Trump said
One more thing about the nerve agent that you didn't mention, now that i finished the season, and none of my north american friends caught on it. Novachok is the nerve agent used on a guy named Navalni who was the main guy against Putin pre-covid. He was poisoned with said nerve agent on a plane (there's videos online), taken to Germany for treatement, and after he recovered he was taken back to Russia and immediately arrested for effectively "treason".

44:37 I'd like to point out that Soldier Boy actually got stronger. He somehow gained his nuclear blast/depowering powers. For a while I was convinced that Annie would be able to absorb the energy from that as he charged that to cancel his attack and possibly steal it. Annie may still eventually gain that power, but we at very least know powers can change. We don't know specifically what was done to Soldier Boy to gain that. Could be chemicals, mad science, or more V.
5:11 i love better call saul but i wonder what kind of show would it be if it was set in like an alternative universe and didn't have to push things to fit the breaking bad timeline.
People seem to think The Boys can't go on much longer because Homelander has to peak at some point, but I can absolutely see this becoming a universe with something a kin to a chapter black saga with Vought being exposed, but a new hero taking power too far in the name of justice.
I like the whole theme of powers in this season. They infer that powers are just like a manifestation of whatever makes you, you. At one point, Frenchie says "Nobody can run that fast" so I predict that if he gets powers, even if it's temporary, he'll be a speedster.
Loved it. I do agree the French is and Kimiko storyline felt a bit detached. And I loved the plot with Noir, but considering how he felt like this big mysterious character throughout the first two seasons, the way it ended felt like a waste.
It’s great to see the Boys back talking about…well, the Boys. Which I only just started earlier this month, am currently on season 3 and have completely fallen in love with. As much as I’ve enjoyed shows like WandaVision, Loki and Moon Knight, this easily trumps anything Marvel has put out on Disney+. Maybe not so much in terms of budget or directing, but definitely in the writing and characterization department, hands down.

I Loved it! I felt the final was a tiny bit rush, and wilde The Homelander Maeve fight was GREAT, i do believe that they nerf Homelander a bit, even if Maeve was the 2nd strongest Supe it just seem impossible as an option for anyone to fight him 1v1. I know HL didn't really wanted to fight her and was probably holding back a little, but for whatever reason that fight just doesn't fit right with me
The impression I got as to why Maeve could take on HL at all is because HL has never had to try and doesnt really know how to, whereas Maeve actually knows how to fight. HL is of course far stronger, he just knows jack shit about how to actually use that strength.

They really bungled the end of this season. Starlight was a wet noodle, the Butcher face turn didn't really make much sense and the fact that Maeve gassed a bunch of innocent people is just glossed over
Havnt watched the boys but did watch umbrella academy. Season 3 was ok. Maybe spoilers but will try and keep vague. I think my opinion is it felt like the second half felt like them trying to put a quick nice ending together should it not get renewed for a season 4. Had some fun with it. Didnt super like that they felt like one of the family had to be the 'bad guy' and who they picked, reasoning was there but didnt feel fun to me. Also ending lost some of my suspension of disbelief and went well that just raises further questions!!
Umbrella S3 Spoiler Can we talk about how nice it felt for victor to come out as trans and everyone immediately respected their new name and who they are without judgement? Every LGBTQ+ person deserves such a response to who they are
I think anyone that likes Homelander likes him as a villain because he is a very well written villain. It's like Handsome Jack and Joker and Dio. You love them but god damn are they shitty people.
Well we want to know politics? One of my major viewpoints is that there should be universal salary caps depending on actual work. I also think that companies need to justify prices based on function and not profits. I really have a lot of political views. Just in general help people and if people aren't being helped, put it into law to help them.
Hopper is a flawed man but I think his violent sociopath phase is in keeping with his character given what we see in this season. Get a sandwich this a long one. Spoiler warning. 1. Dude was in nam and on the DDT squad so not only did he lose his daughter but it was directly his fault. 2. After that he was numbed by self medication not giving a damn about anything till Will. Once that mission was over the next one was keeping L safe and making up for selling her back to the gove. So for 2 season we mostly see him on mission. 3. Season 3 no mission 11 is safe but hoper is thrown into the deep end of having to raise a teenager without the years training one usually gets. Without a mission he hyper fixated on L. Hopers identity was built on him making up Sara’s death and when it seemed like he wasnt needed he snapped. Probably not the best way to do it but his Tim in Russian striped Hopper down to his true self.
I'm so glad they're going in another direction than what the original did that last 1/3rd of the comics ruined the entire story for me and made me regret ever reading it in the first place. That being said, I much prefer the dynamic of Frenchie and The Female from the original rather than the pseudo romantic relationship they have in the show. They were more like an adoptive father and a daughter there and their moments were some of the best highlights in the entire thing.
I personally didn't like the ending, mainly because it was an issue that had multiple other solutions that still ended with homelander dead. First off, butcher or mauve could have just grabbed Ryan and ran while soldier boy blasted homelander, ir since homelander was infront of him when the blast was about to happen, and kimiko managed to survive, Ryan and homelander would both have likely survived the blast just been powerless, or fuck it, they could have sacrificed the kid, I just hate stories where the main characters go so far, so dark to achieve a goal, and only tap out just before they achieve their goal, because it makes all the bad shit they did even more bad and pointless
Haven't watched the show, but what makes the difference between a show saying "the commercialization of progressive issues is gross" and _commercializing_ "the commercialization is gross"?
@@ArcCaravan No I mean: first there was progressive issues, and companies, as they do, commercialized it, creating the commercialization of progressive issues. then people considered this gross, creating the grossness of the commercialization of progressive issues. Now the show is getting credit for referencing this, but isn't it just, as companies (ie. Amazon) do, commercializing the grossness of the commercialization of progressive issues?
@@FeepingCreature I think it has to do with satire or being part of a plot. Might help that it isn't the main focus or are desperately trying to attract attention.
The first 7 episodes of season 3 were amazing, probably the best episodes so far one after the other, and then the finale happened. Jesus Christ, what a shitshow.
I am fairly right leaning, and I love The Boys. This show really does show how shallow and shady corporations and celebrities are. That they’ll be pushing messages to both sides and radicalize them just to make a profit or protect their image
Its weird to me that they only show the radicalization of one side, maybe next season we will see an antihomelander and by that i mean a supe as strong as HL has the same savior complex and is as murder happy but he is sell as a champion of social justice, hell they could revive Black Noir a la Frankenstain, inject him with unholy ammounts of compount V to make him just as strong as HL and use him as a puppet to demonize Homelander
Rian didn’t write Ozymandias though. Nor was he given total creative control. Nothing will ever redeem him for squandering the most important movie in the Star Wars Sequels & how he treated the fanbase after the fact.
@@gregorymelissinos337 This reading is silly. 3:56 paused. Oi..i came here for man crushing on jensen ackles. I better not be disappointed
Ending of the podcast: I feel like Lani just pushed the Big Red Button.
15:30 is when they talk about the boys
God Bless you
They really bungled the end of this season. Starlight was a wet noodle, the Butcher face turn didn't really make much sense and the fact that Maeve gassed a bunch of innocent people is just glossed over
Best ending to a TCPS so far! LOL
The Peak deserves more praise 😤 but overall see the perspective and respect it. Rest of the analysis was splendid boys 👍
48:50 he does actually do that in the comics at the end.
Loved this season
I was wondering what their next Talkcast would be about even though they didn't full discuss Season 2 until now.
This season was good but one thing bugged me. I understand it wasn’t needed, but it still bugged me. Where was Butcher’s 50 cal?
Havnt watched the boys but did watch umbrella academy. Season 3 was ok. Maybe spoilers but will try and keep vague. I think my opinion is it felt like the second half felt like them trying to put a quick nice ending together should it not get renewed for a season 4. Had some fun with it. Didnt super like that they felt like one of the family had to be the 'bad guy' and who they picked, reasoning was there but didnt feel fun to me. Also ending lost some of my suspension of disbelief and went well that just raises further questions!!
Homelander is basically trump if he got superpowers is the most accurate thing I have ever heard this year
Umbrella S3 Spoiler
Can we talk about how nice it felt for victor to come out as trans and everyone immediately respected their new name and who they are without judgement? Every LGBTQ+ person deserves such a response to who they are
I always saw him as her dad. That kiss was super weird to me.
I think anyone that likes Homelander likes him as a villain because he is a very well written villain. It's like Handsome Jack and Joker and Dio. You love them but god damn are they shitty people.
Umbrella Academy feels more akin to Doom Patrol & Harely Quinn show.
Umbrella Academy season 3 is out?! What?!?! Wait, WHAT?! Am I drunk?! Am I dreaming?!
Yeah I hear Netflix barely advertised it.
Well we want to know politics? One of my major viewpoints is that there should be universal salary caps depending on actual work. I also think that companies need to justify prices based on function and not profits.
I really have a lot of political views. Just in general help people and if people aren't being helped, put it into law to help them.
Anarcho capitalist. When season 2 of invincible?
Not this year apparently. Can always read the comic though if you havent already
24:37 spoilers
Still waiting for yall to look at The Boys: Diabolical as well. It's mostly good. Save for the literal shit episode
They were more like an adoptive father and a daughter there and their moments were some of the best highlights in the entire thing.
the boys if the cure for the marvel fatigue.
Glorious
Yeah, I don't like when they say Kimiko in the show.
The boys is goated
Haven't watched the show, but what makes the difference between a show saying "the commercialization of progressive issues is gross" and _commercializing_ "the commercialization is gross"?
Because people who commercialize are acceptable targets, I think. The concept of companies aren't people.
Edit: Like it's less "support our business because we support your cause" and more "people do this in real life so we'll have it in our story". Might help that it isn't the main focus or are desperately trying to attract attention.
❤️
The first 7 episodes of season 3 were amazing, probably the best episodes so far one after the other, and then the finale happened.
Jesus Christ, what a shitshow.
Now that you watched Breaking Bad you gotta watch Better Call Saul , it’s just as good as BB
Strawmen arent real people Scott cmon lol
I’m a Centrist :3 boo!!!!
@@geardestroy You realize the anti-Homelander radicals are the titular "Boys" right?
@@geardestroy It's not weird. The series is not for the right.
Do show on Legends a dragon ball story!
Rian didn’t write Ozymandias though.
Nor was he given total creative control.
Nothing will ever redeem him for squandering the most important movie in the Star Wars Sequels & how he treated the fanbase after the fact.
He's written and directed amazing films.
Last Jedi was the most challenging and interesting Star Wars film since Empire.
He's awesome.
@@gregorymelissinos337 Disagree. ❤️
@@gregorymelissinos337 This reading is silly.
Especially when you consider Knives Out was a heavily sympathetic look at how white conservatives and liberals exploit the working class in America, specifically minorities, starring a female Cuban-Spanish actress.
So your reading of Last Jedi sounds... disingenuous. Uncharitable at best.
@@gregorymelissinos337 It's not a perfect film. Both Rose and Finn were poorly handled, despite their respective character arcs being conceptually sound on paper.
Boyega *should* be upset with how his character was handled. But to paint it as a race and gender issue is ridiculous.
@@gregorymelissinos337 Except the main character has her own agency, makes many of her own choices good and bad, is a vital part of defeating the villain, and comes out on top at the end, after refusing to be used and exploited by other people.
I'm sorry, but we don't agree on this reading.
I thin we will see Edgar act next season, maybe, and heres a theory, next season we will see an antihomelander made by Edgar with the help of Ashley or even Mallory and by that i mean a supe as strong as HL has the same savior complex and is as murder happy but he is sell as a champion of social justice, hell they could revive Black Noir a la Frankenstain, inject him with unholy ammounts of compount V to make him just as strong as HL and use him as a puppet to demonize Homelander, showing how the leaders on the right are idiots and on the left are puppets
Spoilers:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I REALLY hope that the hints the creators dropped don't suggest they are doing the homelander clone thing after all ☹
