Opinions can be more valid than others. The concerns are an elbow to the face is the primary conact, the player also left their feet before contact. How are we arguing about this?
@@Mattoilers97no dude we said the Nurse hit was bad too, not sure who you heard saying that hit was clean. People said keep your head up but also knew it was a penalty
@@Mattoilers97 No one praised Reeves hit, and everyone agreed it was a major. Stop strawmanning. I don't know if the Knies hit was suspendable or not, but do you think one hit meriting a 5 game suspension and the other meriting 0 minutes is reasonable? The issue is the consistency; Reeves made a bad play but it wasn't malicious and neither was the Whitecloud hit. Was the Reeves hit really so much worse?? Why not 2 or 3 games suspension? Why 5?
We just need clarity on incidental head contact but the league refuses to state anything definitively because they are scared of being held to a standard
I watched the Whitecloud on Knies hit, then I read the league explanation for why there wasn't a penalty or a suspension and it left me wondering if they were talking about the same hit?
the leafs should go all in on Crosby. As a Bruins fan, to see Syd go to Toronto and get them the cup would be sick. It would be massive for the game and even if it's a long shot, they should make it happen.
For JD’s point about Grebenkin being a ‘22 late pick and in the majors, there are only two other players who have played games in the NHL and were drafted later than Grebenkin at pick 135
Greboken was a player that you noticed every time he touched the ice. I watch the Marlies and Greboken didn't play any differently tonight. This is exactly how he's played every game since being sent down. On the Marlies he's producing at almost a point a game pace. The only player that has been putting up the point's that can't be called up is Nylander2. The one player that you wish they could call up that's been a point a game player is Cowan.
Gourde would be the best 3rd line center pick up for them with what they can give up in a trade. Also if they can get a retention on his $5.1 mil contract it will be perfect.
Tre is trying to make deal's when you have the solution right in front of them. They've got two NHL coaches behind the bench with two assistant's use them to teach these young gun's what's expected from them. Why wouldn't you want to give these kid's experience for next season. Tre can aquire what's needed at the deadline, now you have depth if needed.
Make all head shots 5 min. If you make contact to the head, however if you duck into the hit both teams penalized. If you bring your head down and cant get back up after a hit, someone that was playing on the ice will sit. One, guys will try harder to hit correctly. Two, guys are going to keep their heads up. Just like boarding. Too many times I guy will turn into the boards showing numbers. Protect yourself at all times.
I do not disagree with players should be protecting yourself at all times ! Where i disagree is where he compares it to the NFL the puck is not glued to a guys stick there will be times where a player looks down just because they are looking at the puck on their stick. The puck is 4 foots below their eyes and it's a loveable object u cannot just skate with your head up 100 percent of the time. By nature of the puck being below the eye level u can't see it while skating, a player will look down sometimes it's bad timing. It can't just be on the player with the puck always protecting yourself. That's why it's on the player making the hit also.
I would even say open to public information on hit comparison will help players and coach in development to reduce bad hits I'm all leagues. The NHL have privilege to help get players safe ways to take hits and to hit players safely. Nothing ever helps when behind closed doors
Why is everyone suddenly trying to make this seem like a hit to the head is okay? The hit was patently not a good hit that should have been penalized. If they want hits to the head to stop, then pushing up high at the last second has to stop. So stop rationalizing this. It should have been 2 games. Do you think a brain can disseminate between an elbow or a shoulder has just smashing it into the side for the brain case?
Why not make a no contacting the head period? Why can't players learn to hit to the shoulders or chest? How hard could it be? It seems pretty easy to bodycheck a person's body without hitting the head. The Knies hit was a targeted head hit. Come on!! Stop making up excuses for "accidental gooning."
Because you obviously have never played a game , its not that simple. Head contact is going to happen, intentionally or not. The only way for no head contact is to have a no contact game period.
It looks like Minton can play some c net minutes but what if another center gets hurt so they need to trade for a center .For sure they will need to give up a draft Pick And bye bye Robertson .
Come on JD elbow was tucked at contact... feet were on ice at contact.... that makes it clean hit... body center of mass was the contact point ...not head
No you have to ignore the reality that his head was principle point of contact. If you think the body was hit at the same time you are grasping at straws. A head injury was the result regardless of what you think the primary point of contact was. His feet were on the ice at contact but as soon as he had the contact he jumped up to make the head contact even worse. That is at least minimum 5 min penalty
@@PaulaBruce-n9v you must be stoned.... god JD you're annoying, why do you think you're obligated to know what the injury is, just watch hockey and wait. I get it's your job but you act like a big baby about it lol
Literally no one said that. The only thing I heard debated was the length of the suspension. Oilers fans love huffing their own farts. So glad you didn’t actually win the cup lmao
The issue with the Knies hit is how high Whitecloud jumped into the hit. If he kept the skates planted, it was just a devastating but perfect hit.
Opinions can be more valid than others. The concerns are an elbow to the face is the primary conact, the player also left their feet before contact. How are we arguing about this?

Just want calls to be consistent
Exactly agree totally
Why would ROR be a good idea when he left because he didn't want to stay here when all he had to do was put pen to paper.
Nick Bjugstad would be a perfect 3rd line center. Expiring contract, big, good face-off man. Get it done Brad!
Bring Stamkos home!
