Excellent video! Well done. Very informative too. It was so refreshing to be listening to your voice instead of noisy background music. Made it much easier to understand your explanations.

Thanks! I try not to use music when explaining more technical stuff that require a bit of focus ;)

This was an excellent video! Short and to the point! I have a 2x4 Tacoma but wanted to get a winch because, I'd rather have one and not use it, than need one and not have it. I wasn't sure how to use one for a vehicle when stuck and you've answered all my questions! Thanks!

I'm glad you found the video helpful! A winch is definitely a smart addition to your Tacoma-better safe than sorry!

Great video, you should mention the reason the black sheath is on the winch line. There are many people that have winches that have no idea what it is for as you and I both know it is there to protect the Rope should I run over any sharp objects. Keep up the good work. 🇳🇿

Yes, the protective sleeve is stored at the end of the rope for convenience and is used wherever the line needs protection to minimize wear and tear. Thank you for this addition. 🙂

Excelente video una pregunta de cuántas libras debe de ser el winche para un corro como este ? Gracias

There is a lot of misconcception about winches out there. I believe, you should get the biggest one that you can fit. I'm running a 9500lbs on the Jimny.

Great, simple instruction delivered clearly as always.
I have a question regarding battery power-
I want to fit a winch on my jimny (steel bumper)... I'm struggling to find 8000/9000/9500 lb winches at a good price but there are lots of 13500 winches available.
(For jimny self recovery only- I know 13500 power is overkill but at least the winch won't ever have to work hard and will always be in the low end of its power availability no matter how stuck the jimny is.
I have standard 70a alternator and dual parallel batterys ( no isolators )
Starter battery is 400cca and second battery is 320cca all charged by standard alternator.
    Could you offer any advice?
Have you upgraded battery or alternator??
My worry is that I won't have enough battery/alternator power to safely run it without damaging something.
    Thanks.
    Keep up the great work!!!
    Tom

You are correct, one needs to think about the battery that will service the winch...
I have put the largest Optima deep cycle battery that fits under the bonnet! I hope this helps

Personally I’d never go for steel rope, synthetic is so much safer

Safety should always come first, and synthetic ropes can offer some great advantages.
