I remember the blizzard of '78, trudging through the snow in Prior Lake with my dad to the little corner store because we were out of milk and bread.
Sounds like a good time!
I remember the 91 Halloween blizzard. I was out trick or treating in that madness. :D
My dad was born and raised in MN. I'm sure he remembers the blizzards in '82 and '85. Back in high school, we had school when it was nearly -30 degrees. I remember back in 2021, it reached -40 degrees here in MN.
oh my. But not as deadly as the Armistice Day storm of November1940 was.
Wearing brown shoes and belt over a blue suit is a federal offense.
The other big snowstorm happened in Minnesota was back in November 1940. Which was known as the Armistice Day Blizzard. Started out with sunny weather and temperatures in the sixties. Most people were poorly prepared for the storm when the temperatures Quickly dropped to below zero When sprinkles became rain, then sleet, Then light snow, and then a deadly blizzard. Killing Around 150 to 200 people. Half of which were duck hunters. 49 people who died were In Minnesota, another 13 were in Wisconsin
A bunch of people died in Iowa, too.
You forgot the Armistice Day blizzard, 24", of 1940. Hundreds stayed in downtown hotels, and dozens of hunters were not found until the spring thaw. Some of them were in shirt sleaves. Indian summer had been long and very mild.
I remember needing to be carried into the "haunted" Grain Belt Brewery during the blizzard of '91 because I was still too little then.
January 1975, the Blizzard of the Century, top of the list out here 100 miles west of the Twin Cities.
For many of us, history goes back a lot further than 1991.
This was wild good work
The worst one I’ve been in was March 3-4, 1985. Got caught driving from UP Michigan to western Mn in a station wagon. To this day I don’t know how my dad managed that. The DNR lists it as one of the worst in history.
2010 west was my 1st
Does anybody remember I think it was 2006? We got 15in the last weekend of February the next weekend was March and we got another 16. 31in snow on the ground and it was -25 almost-50 wind chill on Sunday with beautiful blue sky!
I shoveled two inches already, just waiting on the remaining 18 inches.
1991
Twins won the World Series that year
January 25, 1975 had a nasty snow storm . We were to get married that day but had to cancel. Got married on the 26th surprisingly. My wife when she got mad at me used to say , "Mother Nature was trying to warn me.
this one better top top 5
The metrodome roof loses the war
Hi MN
So I have a question for everybody, who is Mother Nature?
Halloween 91 I was 5 and all I remember is I had to wear a huge snowsuit over my costume, throwing a big fit and that we got a ton of candy that year because a lot of kids didn't get to go out at all.
Always joke when we have snow in the forecast around Halloween can this top the Halloween 91 blizzard, Or anytime we get snow will it be worse then Halloween 91? Lol
Doesn't look like hair/clothes style has changed much since the 80's at this news station.....
Looks miserable
