@@Terriermon1234That's not the way you beat the game, kill the Metroids in the area, don't skip the area you have to go. In AM2R, it's worse: The lava kills faster, you go slower, and there's a giant block that disappears once you kill all the Metroids in the area, this was made because the Gravity Suit makes you immune to lava, so using an early Gravity Suit Cheat doesn't help you skipping the Metroids
The game is not the most fun Metroid but it's really good for what it is especially considering the limitations of the console and the fact that it came before Super. It's easily playable if you just pull up a map from online, since it doesn't have one ingame.
Hours ago (on the day and time I write this) I just finished Metroid 2: Return of Samus, and it is the 2nd Metroid that I have finished, because the 1st was Fusion. And boy, of the 2 it was in this one where I felt the most terrified, and more because of the final battle, but I loved facing each evolutionary stage of these creatures (If you ask me, my favorite evolutionary stages of the Metroids are the standard, as it is the most characteristic design, and the Omega, although in this game and leaving aside the 2017 Remake it does not look as helpless as in Fusion, but I recognize that it is something quick to hit its weak points). Also, since I was 10 and 11 years old, I have been a Metroid fan. Despite the limitations of the original Game Boy (Although I played this game on an emulator on my cell phone), I think it is a spectacular game that enriched the Lore of the franchise at that time. PS: Is there a way to restart the game from scratch? Because I would like to play it again a few more times from the beginning.
Need to know how to erase your save file? It's one of those things that's made to be difficult to do by accident. Hit Select on the title screen which will make a "CLEAR" option appear, then while holding in Down on the pad, hit Start. If you do that right, you'll hear the sound of a Metroid exploding. BTW, in case you had no idea, Left and Right on the title screen change between three save files indicated by number. Instruction manuals are your friends for older games. As for the Metroid evolutions (really metamorphoses, just like with Pokémon and other monster-training franchises-I'm guessing "shinka" can mean either one), I prefer to name the Metroid hives and nests, and Chozo ruins, after those same Greek letters. So in order: Lone α Metroid: Alpha Nest Alpha Ruins and Alpha Hive Gamma Ruins and Gamma Hive Zeta Ruins and Zeta Hive Lone γ Metroid: Gamma Nest α and γ Metroids: Zeta Nest Omega Ruins α and ω Metroids: Omega Nest Omega Hive Lab Ruins As for my favorite Metroid form, I say ζ. It's amusing how the basic Metroid body has become a big ol' transparent belly for this fat-but-ferocious levitating jellyfish/lizardman thing with compound eyes.
@@CarbonRollerCacoI just did it, thanks friend, now I can play the game again as many times as I want. The truth is that playing this game (Before coming to this video 1 month ago) was one of the best experiences when playing a game.
because there are 2 comments, with mine it would be number 3, but I don't see another one, I've already seen this bullfight several times and they never put the colors on it, because they don't play it on the GBC, in the emulator there is the option to put the colors of the GBC and the super Game boy, you can also put borders.
It's also funny how this game and the original Wario Land have the same gameplay engine and even THE SAME PAUSE SOUND. And ironic given the Wario dev team wouldn't actually do a Metroid game themselves until Fusion.
What the heck do you get from killing the creature around 10 minute mark?! I always ran away from it and never returned. Spiderball jump?! All my life I never knew that existed.
Spring Ball. It lets you jump as the Morph Ball, but you can't use it off a wall. That fast Spider Ball jump trick is a glitch that only works going to the left. BTW, that creature's called an Archnus. Fittingly, you consume an X-copy of the same enemy in Fusion to recover the Morph Ball.
Those three Missile Tanks and one (not two) extra Energy Tank in the ceiling tunnels in the second and fourth ruins. WHAT WERE THE DEVS THINKING?! WHO LEGITIMATELY FINDS THOSE?! At least Metroid 1's Energy Tanks-in-tiles can be blundered into because you can take the Wave Beam to Kraid. On top of being in dumb spots, MII's extra items ruined the nice 40-item count that would match M1 :
Sort of. There was never a colorized release. But if I recall correctly, if you played it on the Game Boy Color, it would remap the 4 colors with some proper ones that would make it look better.
SHE had just touched the sphere on the left at 27:52. That's a full healing ball. There are several of those scattered throughout the game, all stationary but infinitely reuseable. The big upright missiles like the one at 28:57 are the same for, well, Samus's missile supply.
27:14 - I was clenched, even knowing this is a TAS speedrun.
why? i did it as a kid to save time. okay i needed full health but it was well known

When just trying to control the character is hard, tas makes it all look great.
This is one of those games I love to watch, but would probably hate to play
Indeed
I played it when it was new and wonder how I was able to finish it.
Boredom and limited money.
@@Ryfinius And also, it's a good game.
Playing this game seemed like a chore to me, it just got boring after so long. And the sound was just awful.

Yeah, Samus exterminated the Metroids, carries a Metroid with her, Ridley located them, stole the baby, and the rest is Super Metroid
