He said he tried to take as much shit as he could when it was time to head back to civilian life 😂. He was cool asf but always with attitude. Always serious and when one of the bigger dudes would act out he’d always get in there face he’d always have that thousand yard stare, he’s seen some thing alright would never answer questions like that, I remember one fat fuck asked him “how many ppl did you kill” random asf in class the guy looked at him said “how fucking stupid are you to ask me that” and just kept looking at him

That flashlight doesn't contain a battery, it only contains a dynamo which, when combined with your muscle power, easily generates the required 3 to 6 volts to light the incandescent bulb when squeezed repeatedly. The plastic will probably have gotten quite brittle by now, so I'd recommend you to be very careful when operating the device because after 80 years the thin plastic grip can easily be damaged. Ask me how I know... (That darned green plastic handle will snap off if you just so much as look at it sideways!)

As other commentators state it a magneto. But no batteries. It has a capacitor inside. The magneto generates DC voltage which is stored in the capacitor. This enables the bulb to light up. The problem is the cap holds a rather substantial DC charge when you stop squeezing the handle and the bulb goes out.
They were once quite common as surplus. Boy Scouts loved them. However if you pried the thing open to see how it worked and touched the cap inadvertently…you got the thrill of your life. Don’t ask me how I know this. Just take my word. Get it? Got it? Good!
