Aaawww! Seeing your joy, excitement, and anticipation was so heart warming. ☺ I felt the same way when I first watched/listened to this. I first started listening to Utada Hikaru in late 2001. I've always absolutely adored her. Every time she releases new music it feels like a big event for me.
I remember when she went on her 8 year hiatus before releasing Fantome. I admittedly was probably a bit too obsessed with her back in the day but over that period I moved on to other kinds of music. Ever since her return, though, she's charmed me once again with every release.
Utada Hikaru has shown remarkable growth as an artist and she will remain an icon then, now, and in the future to come. I love how, as successful as she's been, she maintains a real down to earth vibe. This video cements that image. Jeez... now I'm gushing too! Lol 😂

Yeah, when Fantome dropped I was super emotional about it myself. Not only was she returning to music after all that time but considering all the events surrounding the creation of that album... the death of her mother and the birth of her first child... 😭
The Hatsukoi album had some *stellar* tracks too! Can't wait for a new album but we don't have much longer before the track PINK BLOOD drops. Just a thought... PINK BLOOD sounds a lot like an album title 🤔
[About This Music Video]
The music video is directed by the SHIN EVANGELION Director Hideaki Anno.
By request from Hikaru Utada, the Director readily agreed to work on the video, saying "Under the present circumstances [requiring measures for COVID-19], a possible way to create a music video without actually directing a video shoot would be for the artist to film herself and any other footage on her end, then sending them to me to cut and edit into the final video."
Anno sent the basic minimal asks by email including some requests for eye focus and lip sync, and the artist ventured to the outskirts of London on a video shoot with minimal staff help and all the necessary COVID precautions. The video footage garnered using various devices, including smartphones, was then sent to Anno and staff in Japan for finishing.
Hope you enjoy this finished piece, it's a little bit bittersweet, and like revisiting intimate and precious memories from times past.

This song could come out earlier but as it was written for the evangelion movie it couldn't come out until this movie is released, as I remember it should come out last year
yeah i heard there's been a lot of delay due to the pandemic! the evangelion trailer that got released earlier this year mentioned that the film + song was supposed to have come out around late january (after another round of delays during the latter half of last year), but got pushed back again to march - i'm just glad we're able to enjoy both the film and utada's vocals now! 😻

Apparently we'll be getting a trailer with a snippet of the song on Monday Japan time, Sunday here in North America 😁 Very excited! Quite an unusually titled song. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like!

We waited seven long years for the final Evangelion movie! No spoilers, but it was damn well worth the wait! Movie aside, it would have been a crime to not have Utada-San sing the theme song for the last film! A perfect song to end a legendary series!

@@himemiuu Lol im married with a 2 year old but ive been in love with Hikki and her music , everything about her , she mesmerizes me lol since 2008 when I first heard Beautiful World on the Evangelion dvds , I have a friend from Osaka who has seen her 4 times ! , Im still hoping she will tour maybe Australia one day as im in New Zealand but honestly she is the only person I would pay an expensive air ticket to go see. Or if she tours Japan again I would love it if its in the winter as I love snowboarding there.
Wow now I remember you are right about the affection line in Passion , i stand corrected. Have you noticed the start of her new song definitely has similarities to the intro music to Beautiful World.
To this day I still am blown away by Utada United 2006 , Passion , Kremlin Dusk ,Want to be a man , Travelling, Is this Love , Hikari... the acapella start with the echo delay effect on her voice in Sakura Drops is just stunning.
Sakura Nagashi is just beautiful too , her Lyrics and songs seem to move me personally and I feel she has very thoughtful lyrics and bares her soul so authentically , Many people write songs about relationships not working but her songs Kremlin Dusk and Make me want to be a man have lyrics that just resonated with me , I believe she wrote those songs when her marriage was not working anymore.
Its a shame more people in the west havent discovered her.
I hope she tours again and doesnt do these lottery type things for draws to get her concert tickets , she should just put out an online poll in different areas to gauge what her fanbase is and how many shows and how bigger venue to go for.
Many people are missing out on getting to see her live.
