When I used to live in the Philippines, my mother ran a custom clothing business. she had a lot of gay customers who wanted her to design specific clothes for them. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ran a drag show. All of them became really good friends with my Mom and as matter of fact, one of them who was a makeup artist actually glammed me up for my 6th grade graduation (they didn’t have 7th and 8th grade back then) and I thought I was the shit! Anyways, to me, being around gay men was the norm. I even grew up with my cousin who’s a lesbian and he’s like a brother to me, that’s how close we are. Even through high school, I became really good friends with this guy who used to do drag shows. He borrowed my homecoming and prom gowns for some of his shows. I’d like to think that maybe, I helped him in some way to realize that he should be proud of who he is by accepting him and spending time with him because some students were mean to him. He was shy at first and I saw him transform into a beautiful butterfly. I’m glad that the lgbtq community is thriving and fighting for their rights. I’ve supported this community since I was a kid and I feel like this world would be a boring place without them. ❤️ this channel!
