Happy 40th Anniversary Octopussy, Scarface, Return of the Jedi, Trading Places, and National Lampoon's Vacation (1983-2023)
I Love Octopussy, Scarface, Return of the Jedi, Trading Places, and National Lampoon's Vacation so much. Octopussy along with Return of the Jedi are both very underappreciated and brilliant films, Octopussy is my favorite Roger Moore bond film, and Scarface with Al Pacino is one of my absolute favorite films. Trading Places as well as National Lampoon's Vacation are both great comedy films from start to finish, Trading Places had excellent performances from Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd, and National Lampoon's Vacation with Chevy Chase is an all time classic film.

2:43 John Barry, such a great master of harmonic anticipation/ retardation! My heart melts each time I hear the accompaniment (here, the cellos) extend in arpeggios to the highest pitch possible, thus flirting with the melody but without disconnecting from its root. This score is a slow and long pleasure to the ears, not to use another word :-)

I received my copy of the LaLa Land 2 cd expanded/complete Octopussy 40th Ann OST (along with Live And Let Die) over the weekend just in time for my 65th Bday. It's a fantastic listen. Highly reccomnend if you're a Bond or OST collector. Definitively one of Barry's better (post 60s) Bond scores.
