I’ve had this upland vest since last September and I absolutely love it. Once you adjusted I believe hands down. It’s the best Upland best on the market.
Haven't tried the Final Rise yet, though it's on the list for us to review. However, after hunting with the Marsupial this season, I've decided to move away from it. That full review is coming up, but the short of it is that it seems designed to have the waist belt synched down, tight. It feels restrictive to me. And also because of some of the specifics of how/what I carry, it just doesn't work as well as my previous standard vest. There are a few other things I would change. It's well-made and I like the company. (The Orvis Pro Series just went on 50% sale, so I jumped back in to replace a vest I wore for a decade, which is still usable but the blaze orange is probably not to code -- that made it $100. I our crew has now tested 6-7 vests and we all agree this vest is the best value.)
Mystery Ranch packs sews a piece of Velcro to the ends of their webbing straps so that you can roll them up and Velcro it into a little "roll" for combating excess strap management. I ordered this vest on black Friday and per what I am seeing here from you may consider sewing them onto these straps as I don't like a lot of things flapping around either. If you can find a way to tuck them, in my mind, that'd be better because you don't have those little rolls to contend with - especially with a 2" webbing belt. I imagine some 'tweaks' and customization will be in line to dial this in as it is a generation 1 bag - kind of stinks to not have it completely dialed in for the price, but there isn't much that I don't have to slightly tweak with all gear to really dial it in anyways - so whatever. I appreciate your review and really going through it all, trying it on, adjusting it, etc. Their isn't much for this vest in terms of that yet. I understand and appreciate the "change" factor being a challenge. I am going to be coming off of a Wingworks vest that I have used and loved for the last 7 or so seasons.
Had a chance to hunt with it and am working out the details. A $400 vest is an expensive piece of gear, but if it lasts it makes the sting more tolerable. It seems that all the smaller manufacturers have kind of landed at that price point. I’m sure that’s a combination of labor costs for American made and lack of high volume materials discounting. Pretty sure we’ll be swapping in some customized items in the molle.
I have the same vest but with the small bird bag the big bag is way too big for me I don’t pheasant hunt .let me know what you do with the straps they bother me too . I end up folding them under the belt . And the ammo pouches with zippers got old I hated having to open and close the zipper and when you walk through brush or in the rain you have to zip it open and close every time. I got some ammo pouches with flaps instead to put on the belt
Just look at the big bird bag as optimism. I think you're right about an ammo pouch. I'm gonna run it on one more trip before I make any big swing adjustments.
I've been using this vest all year and think it's awesome. The ammo pouches in my opinion are terrible. There almost impossible to open or close while wearing the vest
Final Rise is one you should try

Thanks for sharing!
I've been running one all year and absolutely love it so far
Very nice
Having tried both the marsupial upland and the final rise summit, which would you recommend and why? Which are you hunting with now? Thanks.

@@UltimateUpland that is very helpful. Thank you.
Marsupial gear is much better, hands-down I’ve tried both of them

@@UltimateUpland If I find things that work, I will share here for you and those that care to know.

That's the good part of them being on a molle system. I'm likely going to look for a different option with magnetic closure.
