***** One of the best videos i have found on RUclips regarding Ann Weiser Cornell's teachings on Empathic Listening. Do yourself a favor and listen. I think everyone would benefit from the insights shared on here. I've taken 3 classes from Ann so far, and still I learned - hopefully absorbed - some new depths of understanding regarding Focusing. GREAT TEACHING. CLEARLY PRESENTED.

In just watching you two- value the process of others empathy stories I begin feeling- warm fuzzy appreciation. So fun. So heartwarming. Like watching a fireplace cracking next to me while i am doing my work.

i did not know gendling had a connection with rogers, it's interesting to know that, something in me is happy to hear about it. like empathy for me would be the grounding of focusing, the grouding that allows what's felt to be felt into the body. I notice sometimes some people need empathy first in order for what they are totally identified to to be first recognized and then when it is totaly expressed, then there is a release and they kinda settle into their body and there they can go ahead into the felt sense of what was talking first place. i'm n,ot sure i'm being clear on this, my english is a bit poor.

Interesting that focusing is not role-playing even though there are parts to listen to and getting how the part feels from its own side. I used to play a lot of d&d and it looks very heady and even ego driven now. Not coming from the felt sense at all. Staying in control and directing the action. Empathy and listening. Such a different approach to therapy that I thought was reserved for the therapist.
