I bought this bike in late 2021, so had it for around a year now. Its a great bike. It seems the same on this test bike - that the cables over the top of the front forks have worn the paintwork considerably. Other than that, I can't really fault it.
I ordered one from Halfords the picture online is black. It has all the parts advertised but it’s a darkish grey colour not black. I preferred the black colour advertised but not to worry bit crappy advertising on there behalf. Not a bad bike at all wants to be for the price.

Hi Toby, I went and asked the guys at Boardman about the coil shock for you and they said that it's compatible but also that it probably won't be any good, depending on your riding style. The MTR's leverage curve is designed for an air shock and tuned for an increased spring rate as it moves through its travel. A coil shock may be more plush at the start of the stroke, but Boardman says it'll bottom out more regularly.

Was hoping to grab this but there not due back in stock until October apparently, so I managed to grab a specialized stumpjumper alloy 29 instead.

Does anybody know when the 2022 lot of bikes are coming out? Or is this still worth getting?
Thanks for the review, worth the wait, interesting comment on the competition especially the AM100s (which is priced similarly to the MTR 8.8).
Hi Colin, sorry about the wait on this one but glad it was useful. Thanks for watching.
Hi would you pick this over, a calibre triple B..... Norco FS 2.... Or a polygon sisku T8?
Great review!
Thanks!
Nice review, getting a bit sick of all these reviews of £5/6/7k bikes.
Cheers Paul! Glad you enjoyed it.
A very good and comprehensive review, thanks.
Any chance there's a review of the 8.6 at all?

Boardman mtr 8.9 or the canyon spectral al 5.0
Would you buy this or a occam h20?
Quick question - will it survive british bike parks?
Definitely!
Do you think it can handle a 100kg rider?
Hi, with no problem. Just make sure the suspension is set up correctly.
Cant be beaten for the money with the chunkier suspension and brakes that other bikes at the price. 5'10 riding size L
I’m 6ft 2 and ride a Medium lol

The only problem is halfords "mechanics" are the worst
Entirely dependent on which branch you go to.

@@offroadcc hi that's great I think I will just put I a better air shock on it as i personally find that the rear shock isn't tuneable enough for me
