I can't quite believe that I'm watching an Atlantic crossing in pretty much real time. Stunning work guys, I don't think you realise quite how ground breaking this is! Greetings from the UK, hope we'll see you here sometime!
Very impressed with your safety practices! Life jackets and being clipped in is awesome. The daily videos are incredible and the quality of your editing is super especially given the conditions. Thanks so much for letting us be part of your journey.
It is 20:46 here Sunday morning in South Africa. Just got the alert that your video dropped. Best news and an instant lift for the Monday blues. Don’t ever think you don’t make a difference - in MY life you ARE making a difference. Great video.
You did a great job by using the 2 - stoke oil. Any oil would work, but your correct that the low viscosity oil is closer to the fluid in there. Great job! From a retired Mechanical Engineer in Florida. I love you guys. Maybe one day we can meet up. I just closed on my new Prout 38 Catamaran. Old men need a stable platform. LOL
Jade's simple explanation of tacking was easy to understand especially in the context of your destination. Really enjoying your daily episodes and insights into daily life across the Atlantic.
You must be the poster guys for ocean sailing just now. You all seem to be having SO much fun. Ioanna (sp?) is rocking the Pirate princess/chef vibe. Please keep posting just as you are, a vicarious adventure is better than no adventure. 🤩
My wife and I enjoy your videos. We watch them religiously early on Saturday mornings over coffee. I appreciated the longer more raw footage you use rather than just 15 min. Over edited stuff that other channels do. Thanks!
New follower here. And I want to thank yall so much for allowing me to follow this adventure ❤ I'm in my last days of heart failure and you allow me to escape. Please be safe and I'll definitely be keeping up with you guys ❤ THANK YOU ❤
I’ve been saving your videos for the end of my days because I really enjoy taking my time to watch them. You guys are living the DREAM ❗️ Thank you so much for sharing your daily adventures with us. Be safe and happy 😊 Blessings, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊🇺🇸
It is so nice that not only are you willing to share your daily lives while making this crossing but also to explain what you are doing with drawings. Thanks
JADE!!!!! what a beautifully clear and straightforward explanation of how a yacht makes progress when the wind isnt cooperating with your plan. And you didnt use sailing terms like 'luff' or 'reef' or 'sheet' or 'foresail' or 'headsail' at all!!!!! Big plus for you!!!
I’ve been loving watching your Atlantic crossing adventure! After seeing Aiyanna’s beautiful creation with that mahi I swear her love language is shown via cooking for the crew! So kind and she made such a beautiful creation ❤ can’t wait to see what you all create next!
Thanks sooo much for taking the time to explain what you’re doing for those of us who don’t know how tacking works! Love seeing the braids as you trek further. How is Brett’s seasickness? Since usually he’s the one to suffer, not Jade!
@@ExpeditionEvans when I was 16 years old my first trip was with a big ship the first week I was so sea sick and once I took off and ammeter I took a flight back home but a few weeks later I traveled for a year and a half in the Pacific Ocean 🌊 and never got sea sick again we where in a resort for a year and half and been traveling at the Red Sea in a yacht 🛥️ at least once a week and me and my wife never got sea sick Brett will get used to it fast 💨 hope this nice couple and there sweet girl joining them have a safe nice trip .
You guys are crushing this passage! Weather window, attitudes, adventure (who hooks a bird?, mahi, yorking)… you guys are covering the bases. Ianna (apologies for spelling?) seems like a perfect fit… brings a lot of great personality to the boat! Fair winds!
You guys rock! I have watched a absolute ton of sailing videos and never stepped foot on a sail boat but this video finally made all the pieces fall into place with regards to wind angles and tacking etc... thanks to Jade for that awesome explanation at the beginning of the video. Your video's are by far some of the most entertaining and informative as well! Thank you so muchfor sharing your adventure with us.
As I am a new sailor I have heard a lot of things I don't properly understand. This was THE VERY best explanation of tacking, and beating into the wind I've ever heard. Thank you crayon and picture lady, I wish everything could be made as simple as that!
Brett, that was a very helpful discussion on your daily power consumption, specifically breaking down how much you’re using, what systems you’re using it on, what solar is replacing, and how often you have to run the genset. My wife and I are saving to replace our dated electrical system in our old girl and trying to work through how much battery, solar, etc. we will need.

Ok, Aiyana is the absolute best cook and meal prep person I have EVER seen!!! ❤️❤️❤️ When I get my sailboat I am going to hire Aiyana to cook for my family and I for a week lol!!! 🥰
I used to make two loops in the fishing line, lay one on top of the other to form a clove hitch, then wrap that hitch around a soda can that is slightly crushed. When you have a fish on, the soda can crushes and makes a distinct noise. I did that one time on an Atlantic crossing, dropped the lure in, let the line out until it was taut, turned around to go forward and I heard the can crush. My first thought was the can crushed prematurely. Return aft to find it caught a mani-mahi that quickly. I call that my 10-second fish story.
What a dish! Nobu Sushi-like! Thanks for letting us tag along on this amazing journey of yours. Keep the spirit high. Stay positive. You’re almost there!
lolol I feel like Jade is the mom who tells her kid, Aiyana, to show off her harmonica skills to all her friends because she's totally been bragging about her but Aiyana is too shy lol it took me back to when I learned the clarinet and my parents kept trying to make me play it for all their friends haha
Love the daily videos. I'm always amazed at how upwind you can sail in a sailboat. My only sailing experience was trying to windsurf in Hawaii. I did great with the wind behind me. Not so much at getting back against the wind.
Not vomit, or spew----you were evening your accounts to Neptune, lol. Great voyage thus far, and y'all have kept your spirits up and (at least on camera) no squabbles or pettiness. I credit the puppies for the cheerfulness of the entire crew. Thanks for the continuing updates---although, for the life of me, I can't tell if you are in May, June, or July when we see these episodes.
I love following the 3 of you! I am so surprised how good the weather has been. I know you have had some rough weather, maybe more than you have shown, but it still looks pretty good! Keep safe, and I’ll keep watching!
You guys are amazing, i was just looking up how you sail into the wind and as i am you explain it. Keep up the great work as long as you're enjoying it. I appreciate the more technical side of it. Still don't understand the physics of sailing into the wind but, you guys rock.
These videos are very good for my mental health, you guys radiate such a positive energy. The ocean, the boat, and just watching you guys do your daily activities is really awesome🌺🌊🐚
When I was in the United States Marine Corps, I was stationed in Hawaii, and I ate a lot of mahi-mahi and it was awesome. That’s one of my favorite fish to eat.

Nice catch! I hope you get another. The salad bowl did look five star. Good job on the hair. Pirate vibe, yes. I hope the wind changes for downwind. I am glad you are having a good crossing. Looking forward to Land Ho and more adventures. 👍⛵️🏝
How lucky you are with the wind on your passsage. I experienced 60+ knots of wind around the Azores for more than a week as bosun. Luckily on the sturdy 3-mast topsail schooner Eendracht so with a minimal stormsail as a gib and traisail on the aftmast we rode out the storm. The Eendracht is 60x12 meters, 600 tons displacement and carries at full sail 1000 M2, but not that time :) The only guys I wasn’t envious of were the cook and chef’s mate who made up a great meal every day for us crew of 54, devided in three watches.
I can confirm the Guatemala meat situation. I was deployed down there like 10 years ago and we got some "ground beef" it was some type of low grade meat, like canner meat or something. When we cooked it it stayed largely pink and had chunks of chipped bone in it still. We all gave it the moniker of Guatemala Fighting Dog burgers, regardless of what we were attempting to make with it.
Thirty thousand people bought Jasmine rice yesterday, how’s that make ya feel. Look up Macrame knots, I used to do hair ties while backpacking. Use the simple left and right overhand knot, plait the colour you want into the top of the hair( two lengths a meter long) and then use the knots. Same knot over and over it will spiral, using the left then right knot it will stay flat. Love this real life vids, got to know you a lot better. Cheers 🥂
Nice pretty fish great colors man maui way up there thats great. Brett no way finding in this video went to day six to see where your at 12 knot winds ahead. Jade your a jewel. Be safe puppers
I would like too thank you guys x 7 for these Awesome update! It's absolutely amazing how fast you can get these updates out for us. All while currently being in the middle of the ocean! How is Miss Alyana faring with the whole sea sickness thing?
Okay, this is weird... I was watching day 7 of your crossing at lunch. When I came back to my desk I felt as though I had just stepped off a boat. Everything was swaying back and forth and bouncing up and down. I'm just going to wait until things settle down here... 🤣
Been following you guys since the beginning. You do a fantastic job in bringing us along on your journeys. I know to do a everyday episode of the crossing is a lot of work and sometimes not much different happens between one day and the other. If I’m being perfectly honest I would like to see more of a blend between how you edited your older and the “raw” productions. At times there’s only so much I can watch of your dogs doing the zooms or your meal making before my interest starts to lessen or I start to drift off. Just thinking that altering between the two styles may keep me more engaged. Don’t get me wrong, Love following you guys and thanks for taking us on your adventures!!!
you really need a fish cleaning set-up out on deck. Always a project to do. She made me soooo nervous handling that sharp knife and avocado on a rocking boat.
Love the PredictWind website following you guys, I have a couple of questions.... 1 - You seem to be doing 2 lines of Longitude per day West - East, how far is 2 lines? 2 - You seemed to have covered a really long distance on day 1, did I miss something? Also I calculated that it'd be around 10 more days to the Azores and Brett said it. I was pleased with myself... really enjoying the sail guys!!! Fair winds.
When I am sailing upwind and it is too rough to do something, I hove-to. It is so simple and makes such a huge difference that it is worth the lost distance. I will hove to to eat a meal, wash the dishes and most importantly, hit the head. If you are close hauled like you are in this episode, it is the simplest of all maneuvers. Tack the boat through the wind but do not touch a single line. Leave the genoa sheets where they are which back-winds the fore sail. Leave the main sheet and traveler where it is which brings it a bit to the new weather side. Then as the boat slows down, turn the wheel like you are trying to tack back and lock it down. That is it and the boat will park in its own keel slick and drift to leeward slowing with minimal heel and roll. To get the boat moving again, I either let the genoa sheet go and trim in on the other side if I want to go on that new tack. If I want to stay on the same tack. I leave all of the sheets tight and turn the boat down wind so that it gibes and turns through about 270º and returns to sailing in the same direction you were before hove to. I typically hove-to several times even on an afternoon day sail. I think of it as a parking break to allow me to stand the boat up for any task that would be easier if I was not bouncing around. It is also my primary MOB maneuver. Everyone on board knows that if someone goes over the side of the boat, immediately hove-to.
Wow! This maneuver answers many of my “ghost” questions (unformulated questions that address the “something’s amiss here”) that come from my first responder safety background. I’ve heard of “hove to” but never knew what it meant. I’d strongly recommend practicing it as a safety action.
I just found your channel a few days ago ad have enjoyed seeing the process how you got to this point. Questions for your next Q&A I'd assume there's a lot of time for games during a long sailing. Your first video has you playing a console game, do you still use a game console with your projector? Do you play games on the laptops? If so what kind of games are each of you into? Are there computer/console games 2 or 3 of you play together? What about board/card/tabletop games? Basically asking what sort if family friendly entertainment you make time for on the voyage outside of music and crafts I guess.
I can't quite believe that I'm watching an Atlantic crossing in pretty much real time. Stunning work guys, I don't think you realise quite how ground breaking this is! Greetings from the UK, hope we'll see you here sometime!
I do think they know and this is about how excited they are.

Freaking Killing it, Thanks so much for all the work,This has been awesome and can not wait for more ! thanx again..
This is awesome....daily updates, I love it..
Thank you! 🐬🐠⛵🦞🌊 The full moon is going to be amazing out there tonight!
you really need a fish cleaning set-up out on deck. Always a project to do. She made me soooo nervous handling that sharp knife and avocado on a rocking boat.
Love ya work guy's keep up the great episodes 👍
Love the daily updates
Another great episode. Also, i'm finding it fun trying to spot who is holding the camera on the pole. 😂😂😂👏👏👏
Fair winds.
At 37 degree latitude it’s about 50.4 miles between points of longitude.
Thankyou for explaining sailing . I’ve never known , please give us more terminology and explanations .
You guys are doing so good!!!
Another great video 📷 love watching them every night 💞
The dogs watching you clean the Mahi!!😂😂oh my word! Wish I were there!
