    This game was one of my childhood racers when I was really young, it just has this whimsical charm that infatuates the youthful mind, and even after I had long forgotten the name of Gadget Racers, the memories of it remained very strong. Over a decade later, I've finally got a copy of Gadget Racers on order, ready to do it all over again.

      Whimsical is exactly the right word, there's a certain magic to these old ChoroQ games that's incredibly difficult to find elsewhere.
      Happy to hear you're about to revisit your childhood and I hope you enjoy it as much as you remember!

      No worries at all, there's plenty more where that came from! I also have a video on Road Trip Adventure (ChoroQ HG 2) and I'll be covering HG3 and 4 over the next few months I imagine.
      I'm really glad you enjoyed the game! It's a really special series and it deserves all the attention it can get.

      Hey, thank you very much! I'm always happy to see a familiar face pop up in my comments section too, it's definitely noticed and appreciated.
      I do like to mix it up a lot but I plan on getting to Gadget Racers a little faster than I did Penny Racers, I had too much fun revisiting this series to leave it on the back burner again 👍.

    This isn't a series I'm too familiar with, I haven't played any of the games aside from Road Trip Adventure. Nice review, It looks like a rather nice series so far.
    Also Yakuza rules! 0 is my favourite so far, I'm on 5 at the moment.

      Yeah I've only really discovered the extent of the series myself over the last few years, it's a lot bigger than I realized! I've played a bit of the third and fourth and they're great too, looking forward to covering them.
      I'm happy to hear that too! Yakuza is my favourite series (alongside Dragon Quest) so I'm planning to do all of them eventually :)

    Loved your Vid on RT: adventure. I also just noticed during your explanation of the region games that Seek and Destroy popped up, loved that one too, I also got that one from a random shop that had a few ps2 games on a DVD spin basket. Seek and Destroy vid when?

    • @TheUtterChrisp
      @TheUtterChrisp  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you very much, for watching this and that one!
      Very well spotted, Seek and Destroy is wild. It's a very bizarre concept to take these wholesome games and stick them into a conflict-focused scenario! Needless to say, I'll definitely be covering it eventually, once I've done Gadget Racers (HG3) and ChoroQ (HG4). I'm just wrapping up the season 2 finale atm (hard at work on the Yakuza 0 video!), but for season 3 I'll be focusing a lot more on following up on the various video game series I've already started :).

    Really enjoyed this video and the Road Trip video. I've spent hundreds of hours between both games over the years, and Road Trip might be my favorite PS2 game of all time. Gadget Racers keeps me coming back every now and then for the Grand Prix, it has a really good feel to it. I've never played HG3 or HG4, but with how much I love these games I'm going to have to try them someday.

      I'd definitely recommend checking out HG3 and 4 if at all possible. 3 very much feels like Road Trip again, albeit with a smaller world, and 4 is a different beast again!
      I'll be covering them both here at some point of course :p

    Refreshing to know I'm not the only one to pull my hair out while trying to research choro-q games. You may be interested to know that some ps1 choro-q games now have english translations, notably Choro-Q Wonderful, which is very similar to Road Trip Adventure (both being developed by the same team). I look forward to the Choro-Q HG 4 video eventually

      Yeah it's a right pain in the neck, I honestly don't know what the localisation teams were thinking! Hopefully my little guide here will help others in future! I definitely want to try out ChoroQ Wonderful at some point, I suspect I'll be properly looking into that once I've covered all the PS2 entries!
      I'd like to have a look at ChoroQ Works as well for sure.

      No problem at all!
      Throughout this season of Having a Mosey I've been trying to focus on the theme of nostalgia across a number of these videos, and liminal space absolutely feels like the perfect physical manifestation of that sensation to me; a feeling of simplicity and tranquility.
      I'm really glad that this part of the video resonated with you, I was a bit worried that I was chatting nonsense!

    Love this series, you've played the best and the worst of the 4 in my opinion. I'd be interested to see what you thought if HG3 and HG4 - they're both fantastic in their own way!

    • @TheUtterChrisp
      @TheUtterChrisp  4 месяца назад +1

      It's an awesome series!
      I suspect we have very similar tastes. I've finished HG1 and HG2 and I'd agree that HG2 is the pinnacle and HG1 is the weakest, though I still love it for what it is, as I've said in the video.
      I've played but not finished HG3 and 4. I know I'll love HG3 because of just how similar it is to HG2 in a lot of ways, though I miss the full open world and My City! HG4 just seems totally wild, like a full on RPG, even moreso than Road Trip, so I'm excited to sink my teeth into that properly.
      It takes me a bit longer to make videos these days (full time job + wanting to go way more in-depth than I used to), but rest assured I'll get to them eventually!

    • @fred9604
      @fred9604 4 месяца назад

      I struggled with HG3 for the same reason with it not being fully open world. But like you mentioned in your vid sometimes changing perspective can transform your outlook on a game - I asked myself if I'd still love Road Trip even if it had gates between the cities and I decided yes I would. Since then I enjoy HG3 a lot more!!
      HG4 is wild, I actually really like it after leaving it and coming back to it a few times
      Look forward to seeing your vids on them in the future 👍👍

    Another great video, looks like a nightmare to research! I hadn't heard of this series of games and at the outset was thinking of how I missed these simple wacky Arcade Racers, I remember one i had call S.C.A.R.S on the PS1, but it seems as if Penn racers was quite in depth with its level of customization and upgrades, close on the heels of arguably one of the best of all time from the same Gen Gran Turismo 3 A Spec. Good job on recreating your 80s Synth art vibe for your cars! I listened to a whole podcast on Liminal spaces once, don't ask me why! Very much looking forward to that Yakuza 0 review drop!

      Work on Yakuza 0 has already begun :P. I'm aiming to have it out around the New Year's period, it'll be a nice way to round out the anniversary of my Unreal Tournament review, but we'll see!
