OMG!!!! I grew up here!!! This is Palolo Valley! I did not grow up in the valley but at the bottom, but went up there many many times growing up. I had many friends that lived up there and I played baseball and also swam at palolo valley district park. The trippest thing is when you went to street level and panned left to the 2 story house, i actually had many sleepovers in that house!!! So trippy!!!
I never went into the temple. Its Korean and I'm Japanese. But, the orchid nursery is called Kawamoto nursery! Its like 3 generations deep. I also went to school with the kids that are running it now. I remember running around the grounds as a kid. So trippy!!! And what's funny, when you put low rent housing in i laughed because there is low income housing surrounding the district park.
What an amazing build FC. And who woulda thought that i'd see someone create an area based on somewhere i grew up! Thanks for the unexpected trip along memory lane!! Cheers FC!

This is where Few Candy shines as a builder...I can feel the joy for her work through out the video...Getting the same feel as when she was doing Auridon. I pray the CS2 people see this and wonder how can they make it happen in that game.

I doubt im the only one but i personally would rather watch CS1 content with mods than watch any Cs2 at this point , i think paradox missed an opportunity with Cs2 tbh . Why they didnt just update the CS1 base game and incorporate some of the now available game changing mods into it is beyond me , Cs1 still has plenty of life left in it and ill still continue to play it and watch great content creator's like yourself for as long as you continue to play it ❤

You know what could be fun in the hills of Solitude? A tram or a train, like the ones they have in Switzerland, the steep ones.
I wonder if there are any assets in the workshop to make a rail line like the Pilatusbahn, that would be so fun to have snaking its way through the tropical mountain ranges.

Great build. Lovely how the build turned out on the steep terrain. I dont mind the tunnel(s) in suburbs. Otherwise you can imagen that there was an old trainline with tunnels and bridges that came out of use cause of the new trainline. If you upgrade the tunnel to tramtracks and also make some bridges, you can run a touristtramline/steamtrain/sightseeingline on the old track. The expensive bridges and tunnels got a new life than. I believe in Brazil and Portugal they have some of those multi-use infrastructure

Solitude Fun Fact of the Day: Captain Archibald Ludgkovic IV was a civil engineer and former officer of the Auridon 2nd Combat Engineers Battalion, who retired to the sunny Island of Solitude in 1955, after he lost an eye in the Korean war. He became one of the first professors at Solitude University, which at the time was basically a low grade tech-school, and also ran a small construction company on the side. 'Mad Cap'n Archy', as he was soon known all over the island, started to envision all this new housing areas all over solitude, that could only be developed by hughe infrastructure projects. When he made calculations for the city council for his first project, there was not enough comercial explosives on the island stored for the project.
Ludgkovic spend the last twenty years of his life training the civil engineers that would be needed to construct all that roads, tunnels and bridges to develop the hilly terrain of solitude. He died September first 1977 , the day construction of the new Bayview Motordrive No.1 started, when the blasting of a large boulder whent terrible wrong. The boulder went 30 meters through the air, pushed over an excavator, that pushed over a construction crane that pushed over another crane that fell onto the mobile construction office and flattened it.

Where i'm from, this kinda nursery is fairly common and tucked in the middle of neighbourhood, usually carrying flower plants, bonsai or community farm where you can pick your own vege/fruits/herbs!
The rocky area near the condos are a bit much tbh, usually if a mountain is that rocky, they wouldn't build condos on it because excavating the building area will cost a bomb. i think it's fine to cut back on the rocks and use foliage and trees between them.

  • @e-bow

This has really refuelled my CS1 enthusiasm and getting back to my Solitude map build 🤗. I love the way Solitude is developing, it's getting a really distinct vibe. I think the foliage over palm choice is really helping.

I personally love the broken dirty concrete and trash piles. I grew up in a small regional town in Australia and although it's a different environment the slightly rundown look is kind of nostalgic to me. Sometimes when you zoom out after you've finished detailing it looks like you've just opened google earth.

I'm also building a tropical island and get a lot of inspiration and ideas from you, thank you! I really loved the idea of using the ore industry at the harbor in one of the last builds. And now with the garden center, love it! Some ideas (sorry for the dump, but you make my mind overflow): Do you know these fruit farms where the city poeple can go and pick fruits themselves, and then pay a very reduced price? Have them in germany (strawberries), also saw some in Australia (pineapples) with a little visitor center/playground. Also maybe some little market booths along the roads here and there, where people sell coconut and bananas and avocados out of their gardens/farms. For the natue reserve: Something like canopy tours with elevated/suspended hiking paths/bridges among the trees would be cool. And lastly: Do you think it would be possible to repurpose some foresty industry to look like a rewilding/reforesting area? (Just for the looks, not as in the game mechanic). Anyways, thanks for the episode :)

Another terrific built. I especially like the way, the highrise buildings are sitting in between the rocks on the hillside. An alternative way to deal with highrise on such a terrain would be, to make the buildings accessible from the upper and the lower street (or in the game: to make it look that way). That might be something to try out in the next hillside area.
Also: Perhaps it would be a good idea to add some barricade at the end of the steep pedestrian/bike path in this neighbourhood, so that bikers can´t accidently enter the road at full speed and a warning sign on top of that slope.

Hi Few! Amazing build as always and good to be back in solitude. I was thinking with all those mountainous areas that one of those remote treacherous mountains pass roads (the kind with almost a sheer drop and no crash barriers) would be a cool addition. Also maybe an area that’s had a land slide taking out a section of road (emergency vehicle’s emergency barriers etc) it could be something you could do on a live stream! Anyway just some ideas.Hope you’re feeling better after your cold. 😊

Im pretty certain that the original settlers hand built those tunnels with the monks as part of the integration into the island life and access from the temple to the water sources. They were actually quite dangerous for many years and were only redeveloped and updated when the European colonies started moving in. There's a rumour that Captain Jack Squircle himself instructed they were filled in so that the temple would be cut off, and that the resulting outcry from locals was the beginning of the end for the imperial rulers. The island was soon back in control by the locals and trade flourished thanks to the newly built ports

Building on terrain always annoys me in CS1 and 2, particularly single family homes. Higher density placed with Move it usually works though

    • @fewcandy
      @fewcandy  8 месяцев назад

It’s tricky, but not impossible! But yes high density tends to be easier to manage!

CS is better than CS2. And CS has a better visual asthetic and style and colour tone than CS2 which is trying too hard to be realistic.
