These games can be emotional or simple and fun, but regardless, they can change your perspective. Today, I am going to dive into some of these games that make you think about life and talk about how they gave me insight into the world we live in.

Can you please make a video about 7 days to die. I would say the game has vastly improved since release and has been one of my favorite survival games since I’ve found out about it. Btw love the vids!
That is of bad business mind set 8:27
What happened to this channel, I was watching it for unturned some years ago
MOBAs make me think about my life because I regret my life decisions
You should
I’m sorry
Hahaha, duality of man, I like how it took you an entire month to reflect and apologize
It’s like a drug but it has no positive effect and immediately quit cause it sucks ass
Mobas is fun to get a consistent way to play a game master deeply with friends. And even if people can be toxic that is also an opportunity to learn valuable skills to handle that. So actually I think it can be kind of more deep than many games even if the theme isn’t really story about something meaningful.
Night in The Woods is also a pretty good game that makes you think about life. It makes you realize that not everything is going to stay the same. People change, locations change, the very ground beneath our feet can change. The rebellious troublemaker of the past can now be the hardworking future sighter in the same way that the intelligent gifted ones can end up working menial deadend jobs.
Also the game just looks pretty, it's characters are loveable, and the soundtrack...my goodness the soundtrack is just hands down amazing. You know a game is good when you can just sit at the title menu and jam out to it without even starting the game.
I like the hand u find
and there's a sad dark story behind the creator. RIP
When Robokast plays journey: gets a cool guy who sticks to the end
Me: gets an afk guy
Spiritfarer
Goddamn this game means so much to me. Through each character it shows you how to come to terms with death, Gwen’s is about the acceptance of the end and embracing it, Atul’s is the abruptness of death and showing how you should value every moment, and that’s all I’ll share to not get into the latter spirits.
With each spirit you know the end is coming and as something simple as Atul asking you to catch lightning and you saying no hit me with regret when I realized he’s gone. Gwen’s struggle with wanting to control her future because she couldn’t control her past and her eventually coming to terms that she can’t control her future, and then realizing it’s her time. That was the part that hit me like a truck, each character has a key part to them that’s missing and some never find it.
I second this.
I remember Playing Stardew Valley for the first time and just immediately noticing the emotional impact it had on me, i was in a pretty dark place and sometimes still am but this game just seems to teach me things and make me think in a different way, it still has a certain impact that I can’t really describe
Hey bro if u ever wanna coop, comment to this comment an well finf a way to play!
@@dennisvanv6345 don't mind if I do?
@@chrono4998 whats ur stram user id or discord?
It most definitely brings back that nostalgic feeling. Back to the Harvest Moon Era or Sims, coming home after a school day to fire up the GameCube. In a way I feel like this game really grounds you, brings you back to earth from all the old flashy games, and shows you that pixel art style games still have a home in Indie genre. It's refreshing
Uploads like this are why I watch RUclips over tv.
Nice work dude 🙂🙏
Thank you! Glad you liked it.
@@robokast your story about Journey was so beautiful, reminds me of the friends I made in other video games. The thing that you said about life really inspired me.
The part about a short hike and living in the present litteraly made me cry.. That's so true
Some good games of contemplative type:
Gris
Outer Wilds
Hollow Knight
Celeste
Stanley Parable
The Begginers Guide
Abzu
Nier Automata
And Everything!
Outer Wilds was such a freaking cool experience
Dark souls is a great one too.
The Beginner’s Guide, Nier: Automata, The Stanley Parable, Everything, That Dragon Cancer, What Remains Of Edith Finch, The Witness
Also, The Unfinished Swan, same creators as Edith Finch
What remains of edith finch is a game that hit me hard. Had great story telling that really gets you invested in the game and you start relating with the main character a lot. If you want a game that makes you think I recommend it!
especially the fish scene
A Short Hike is the best! I think the one that made me think the most about life is "Everything". It seems completely silly at first but it complements/illustrate perfectly what Alan Watts teaches.
Can we just appreciate the fact the FIRST game this man one hundred percented was rdr1.
Made me realized I've barely 100 any game other than Fighting/Sports games' story mode or online games.
Now that I think of it, the only single player game I completed was Yakuza 0 and that was this year (after almost two decade of gaming).
On my first play through of A Short Hike I was so focused on beating the game, that it was basically a fast run. I cane back to the game like months later and decided to explore the world, and that’s when I properly invested in all the characters and honestly they are the soul of the game. I had so many pleasant surprises and ended up feeling less alone 🥺 I love this game
Another hard hitting game is To The Moon, after I finished it I just sat there for a while
Another game that makes you think about life may be TWDG. The Walking Dead Games (Seasons 1-4) really made me think about my relationships, morals, other people’s morals, my decision making and problem solving skills, and independence. It’s the first game that really made me feel sadness or guilt for my actions. Yes, it gives you the illusion of freedom, but it’s more about the story. I’ve been playing it since season 1 released in 2012, all the way up to when it ended in 2019.
it is life is strange series for me personally.
Same for TLOU
Nice pfp ◖⚆ᴥ⚆◗
I like how u literally have night in the woods in ur pfp, but u talking about the walking dead or some shit
Life is Strange was one of my best experiences while gaming. It made me feel so much for the characters and would get me so immersed to where when I was tired and ready to go to bed I still wanted to play and see where the story goes. It was like a TV show and I couldn't stop binging it. I still remember the events as if I was there in the game with the characters.
What remains of Edith finch is an extremely great game that really puts into perspective the fleeting nature of life and has a great overall story
When I first played the game i didnt know anything about it so my expectations were low. But when i finished it it really made me thinks about life and other stuff. Loved the game. Everything was great about it
You should do a video on Nier Automata.. it’s one of the games that belong on this list and it’s an absolute gem.
Did you play the first one in ps3? That gane broke me, but got repaired through the years just to get broken again by Nier: Automata. 😭
The ending of red dead redemption 2 really shook me to the core. Seeing those credits roll, I really just sat there and thought about the whole crazy journey I took with all the amazing characters.
I knew that journey would be in this video lol
A night in the woods was a hard hitter for me. Not sure why but I couldn't sleep that night lmao.
Dude I just found you agian, you were a big part of my childhood back when you made gmod videos, I'm glad you make videos you enjoy to make thank you for my childhood
So wholesome
Try out :The longing: its also a thoughtful life changing experience 💚
Have you ever played Everything? That game is an absolute experience that I will never forget
I second this. Incredible experience! Very deep.
A little bit of everything? All of the time!
The game that made me think about life has to be Life is Strange.
I’m glad to see people unironically like LiS. I know people clown on it, but it’s popular for a reason.
@@Evanz111 yeah I know but I get why some people would clown on it, but still it ain't nothing to get mad over.
Thank you for making these videos:) always love to see them pop up now and again.
More to come!
Spiritfarer is a game I have heard about that's very emotional I haven't played it yet because I have been so busy
Actually just started playing it, it’s an outstanding game!
The narration throughout the video, especially during the Journey part, was mesmerizing! I just kept listening to it like a nice story...great work!
I share your feelings regarding A Short Hike. It's such a amazing game and helped me so much in hard times.
Super Mario makes me think about life because it's an existential Italian meatball experience
#deep
Unpopular opinion but dang Slime Rancher gave me the feels.
agreed
The ending credits song made me shed a tear and i can wait for no.2
I'd say Team Fortress 2 helped me strenghten my loyalty by playing with a team and caring about one another I know that the game is mostly shoot and kill but it did help a bit in building my morale. There is many games out there sadly I really can't play anything above a source engine or above 2012 release
People always say "That player is a spy" but very few can say "That character is my friend"
keep it up robo!
I've never heard of any of these games but absolutely loved this video. Keep it up!
I absolutely loved this video! Keep up the good work, and do more of these. I think that you're channel is a feel good. And you are helping people in that way.
Loved ut!!!!
Firewatch, Night in The Woods and Meadow are some of my favorite games that totally makes you think about life.
Meadow is similar to Journey that you have some puzzles to solve as a group. No chat, no name tags - just emotes and going around a uniquely stylized world as an animal of your choice. It’s sort of a lite version of Journey though because there is no end goal and is more about going around socializing. If anyone’s curious you should check it out, it’s really wholesome and therapeutic.
The long dark makes me think about life
This is golden content, thanks!
The last campfire! Beautiful puzzle game about moving on from this life. I've been looking for a game that captures the same feeling ever since.
The fact that this video is getting slept on so hard is criminal
I actually started to watch the video and I fell in love with "A Short Hike" so i paused the video, purchased the game and completed it... Thanks for that
Yea, it was amazing wasn't it? And incredibly short so you don't feel burned out near the end most longer titles
I would HIGHLY recommend dark souls. The whole game I thought "cant wait to beat this game and flex to my friends about it", but after the final boss I was like "damn......."
Thanks A LOT for such a cool and interesting video. It made me rethink some things in my life. You are awesome! Keep going)
Gris is such an artistic game with many layers and interpretations.
QUALITY content. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This was a really good video, nice job 👍
One of the games that most marked my life and that I remember with great nostalgia was Pokémon: black and white
the story is just fantastic and seeing how the characters mature along side with you is truly phenomenal, also the cool music, the legendaries, the whole thing about ideals and truth is what first got me in philosophy when i was a teenager. Pokémon bw is pretty much the most memorable game i've ever played
Iconoclasts is the game I didn't expect to really get into, but ended up loving. There were several times in the game that hit me so hard I had to stop and go for a walk to reflect on what just happened because they were too relatable. Now I question the values of societies a lot more.
I played a game called Meadow recently. Its a strange, simple "MMO" where you play as an animal in the wilderness. Your only means of communication is through pings, much like Journey. Unlike Journey however you literally just get dropped in, left to your own confusion. I didnt have a single clue of what to do until another, experienced player found me. Turns out there isnt too much to do, but the experience of overcoming the confusion with a stranger, wandering the forests and mountains was a fantastic evening and very inspiring. If i gotta chock it up to an IGN catch-phrase: Its Journey, but you set your own objectives.
Outerwilds is perfect for this
Great video as always! If you haven't yet, I HIGHLY suggest playing The Outer Wilds, it fits this theme perfectly. Oh and Celeste
Yowwww the Journey is wholesome
Why did this video not do as good? I loved it!
Superliminal helped me to deal with my anxiety which can sometimes make things look insurmountable.
Before you eyes is the only game to bring me to actual tears. That game is an experience and is a work of art
neither my wife nor I are gamers. We started playing A Short Hike the other day and LOVED IT! We don't want it to end :-D It is so much fun. Looking forward to finding other games and experiences together
Undertale is a really wholesome game, We go through a lot of difficulties in this game and we face a lot of problems and people with different behaviors, but in the end, despite everything, it was still us...and this is just one of the game's messages...
I remember when playing journey the other person was picked off by the flying thing. I the searched for him and waited patiently but he was nowhere to be found.. so I had to complete the journey alone without anyone
Hollow Knight made me think about life and what was important
Nice video. Very well made.
Gris is a masterpiece
Journey made me cry man only the second game to do so
Nice video my friend
Undertale, Battlefield 1, Age of Empires were all games that did this for me
Journey is a masterpiece.
great stuff
Firewatch is a game that hit me very much.
the beginner's guide would 100% fit on this list
There was this game I used to play as a kid that unfortunately I can't remember its name. But basically it starts with me having a hot-air balloon accident, I fall onto an island, then I work my way to fix my balloon to return home with the help of the island people. You end up creating friendships with them and after eventually fixing the hot-air balloon and leaving the island, it was pretty sad actually.
Cool topic. I’m definitely interested in this point of view. I’m new to gaming and the only ones I’ve played is Civilization, Witcher 3, PlaguesTale and Red dead Redemption2. I’m pretty still into red dead online, though I’m a little sick of it. I need new game ideas,. Thanks
Right now I'm enjoying games like Enter the Gungeon, Binding of Isaac, & Team Fortress 2. If you're looking for more indie games or small games, the Epic Games store gives 1 - 2 free games every week.
@@thederpderp7758 thank you, I’ll look into those. I recently got cyber punk and little nightmares 2. They seem pretty cool, I’ve only played about an hour into both.
@Boogerbong Bootycplap thanks I’ll look it up on steam
Beautiful
maybe it's more simple than this games but for me the game that change my way of thinkin was assassin creed all generation with one purpose and the character evolution is amazing, watching the history of the different games was awesome
If you liked journey you should try sky, the interaction is even better between characters.
The Witness and Braid has deep meaning to me. 🙂
Florence
Last of Us
And then like many have already mentioned: Outer Wilds, A Short Hike, Journey, Firewatch
This title is deep.
To the moon series and beginner's guide definitely deserve to be on that list.
Along with What remains of Edith Finch and Soma.
But they are different kinds of games so they don't fit fit. Great games regardless.
A really hard hitting game for me was Last Day of June. That game WRECKED me. I ugly cried on stream while playing that one. I loved the game though. So much so that even though I had gotten the game for free on Epic and that was how I originally played it. I actually bought the game on steam just to support the dev.
Another game that I got really emotional while playing recently was Lost Words: Beyond the Page. There were a lot of themes in that game that hit me so damn hard. Another game that made me cry on stream, because it brought up a lot of emotions I thought I had made it past for the most part. I had played the demo months before getting it and fell in love with the design and the story. It's the only game I have ever bought the day it released.
playing any game for 13 hours straight should make you think about your life. but also the long dark, lots of walking in the cold canadian wilderness gives you tons of time to ponder and the story mode changed me
WROEF, stardew valley, before your eyes are all beautiful, but Firewatch holds a special place in my heart.
Really liked this video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Journey is just too good especially the soundtrack
The soundtrack is really nice and it’s a big aspect of the game
Too bad the PC port’s soundtrack is still bugged
You would absolutely LOVE the Little Nightmares games. They are my favorite games of all time. The audio, atmosphere, and lore are beyond this world. Both games find a place in your heart and stay there for life. Since you love Journey (and so do I, phenomenal game), I BEG you to get LN 1&2.
Love your videos, keep it up
the soundtrack of that games hits hard i even have them on spotify
An obvious pick of a meaningful game is ofc the Nier series, both the original and Automata really blur the lines between what is right and wrong and let the player draw their own conclusion. Its fantastic.
Something that I have also found extremely meaningful is actually fighting games. They may seem pompuous or exaggerated, and they are, but they can also be so much more subtle than people give them credit for. Fighting games to me represent something so real and the amount of control you can have over your character's actions, how you can express yourself through them is something I think is unrivaled in other genres. Maybe its because im also a musician, but I found the process of learning to play fighting games so familiar yet humbling. You can always get better, you can always get smarter but there is no one way to do so. Much like old musicians that only got better with age on their instrument, I get the same feeling from fighting games that I dont get with competitive shooters or MOBAs or strategy games.
You absolutely need to play To The Moon. Period.
Spiritfarer is another game with deeper meaning. As I am typing this I am watching the credits (just completed my first play through). I almost shed a tear. Wow that game is good.
Hey Robo, good video as always (and no dislikes as of posting this comment :) but a suggestion for another game would be Sky Children of Light. It’s very similar to journey and is even made by the same company! Anyways wish you and everyone here the best of luck
RoboKast, I don't know if you already did a video on this or had it in one of your videos, but I think you should do a video on Sky: Children of the Light.
If I remember properly, when you reach the credits in journey at one point it shows you the names of the other people in your journey, and you can actually see their nametag, and, in turn, send them a friend request or invite to something else.
My favourite game that really made me think about my life choices was dark souls. I’ll never forget it.
Undertale is the ultimate philosophical experience lol
Aha the short hike
I bet others alreadyd wrote this but I definitely recommend, Brothers a tale of two sons.
I hate this optimism great video
Nice
as others have commented, i would love if you made a video about nier automata. its totally one of THESE kinds of games
I think witcher 3 is the game that makes me question about the whole gaming industry in general
But whats remains of edith finch is the game that hits me the most on the emotional level
Please more a part 2
Journey give me a feeling. It's just like You don't want to be alone after all, i mean Its reflect me in real life that When you reach your goal is One thing But reaching your goal with someone else? Its different, Instead of thinking reaching of a goal. my mind shift thinking of that person/someone else that my goal is doesn't matter anymore... But to enjoy the experience and fun along with someone else along the way. That's journey want me to feel. Just don't mind your goal eventually you reach it without noticing at all. By the end of the game i was like. "oh didn't know that this is the final part of the game" i was really enjoying solving puzzles with someone else.
Don't know if you do mobile games, but there's a game called "Warplane Inc." on the Google Play store. The campaign mode story is just... Wow. I can't describe how it feels, it's just such a great storyline. Especially for a mobile game.
Bro where is ur discord server?
