- Almost 10 months ago, Kabul fell into the hands of the #Taliban. The hardline Islamists' return to power led to a mass exodus of the Afghan population, with the US taking in some 78,000 refugees. #California received the largest number, followed by Texas, where some 10,500 #Afghans are already calling the Lone Star State home. Texans are proud to welcome them, as our correspondents report.

I have met and taught some Afghani children at school here in Houston. I substitute teach. I use my cell phone to communicate with them. They speak Persian and Pashto. They're cool kids.
Ya.... christian nations helping others but forgetting own poor christians from other countries. Thats why some countries are facing knife attacks and so on. Countries like UK... France and Germany are facing threats. Why your countrymen dont ask their countries to take them in their countries?
@@EUpunisher For sure...I'll take your word for it, lol...🤣
Texas is one of the most giving states 😊
Houston is getting gold with all the refugees and their skills and willingness.
Which skills? Growing opium or Burka sewing.
Just want to throw this out there for those who don't know. "Refugee" is a legal term, it's more specific than saying immigrants or asylum seekers. Meaning, refugees had to apply beforehand, be recommended by UNHCR to be investigated by the U.S. homeland security, be personally and professionally vouched for, have health screenings and vaccinations, background checks, extensive interviews, IDs, fingerprints, you name it. They did the legal process and many wait years to know if they're accepted. Another fun fact: a large portion of these Afghan refugees have actually come on "special immigrant visa"s that were granted to them (after applying of course) because they worked for the US army during the war.
Just dont send the children to school because we know how that goes
😂😂😂
Dont kid yourselves.
I don't know about that, tbh... Texans are pretty fed up with these new, unwanted "arrivals."
I'm Houstonian and I welcome them. As I said in my above comment, I taught some of these Afghani kids and communicated in Persian or Pashto using my phone and they were not only well behaved but they also worked the hardest in the E.S.L. class.
You racist
I don't blame them. This is ridiculous!!!
@@matthewjay660 They can stay at your house then.
👀
Please leave your religion on the east side.
Do they get driven to washungton, too?
Or is that just for the ones from the border?
Legitimate refugees are welcomed with open arms. Illegals get a one way ticket to Washington DC.
Don't know. Don't care.
🤔 My rent doubled and they get free stuff. 👎
@E now my car insurance just went up by $70 and im middle aged😥
@@Ricobaca They lost their country mate, it will be decades before the country fixes itself.
They earned that help aiding our soldiers
@@matheenarif8645 Afghanistan? Fixed? I’m speechless.
