Thank you for the information! Can I ask you for an advice. Should I buy bus thickets in advance for travelling between Matsumoto-Takayama-Kanazawa, during Obon. It will be very crowd like the Tokaido line? Thank you 🙏
Konnichiwa! I will be travelling from osaka to kyoto by train, more specifically from Namba Station to Kyoto Station. I will bring big luggage and google maps refers me to get to Namba Station > Midosuji Line > Umeda/Osaka Station > Tokaido-Sanyo Line (Rapid/Special Rapid) > Kyoto Station. I would like to ask if this rapid/special rapid train in tokaido-sanyo line is considered as shinkansen? Must i reserve seat for my luggage if i take this train?
Thank you for the comment. And Tokaido Sanyo line Rapid special Rapid is not Shinkansen. Actually you don’t need to take Shinkansen between Osaka and Kyoto because Shinkansen and super rapid train is not different about required time. So following Google map is better I think. And you don’t need reservation to take Tokaido Sanyo Line.
This is an excellent video - love the conclusions for each of the sections. This is easily one of the best videos I’ve seen with travel updates in Japan and super helpful for my trip planning. Good work!
Thank you for this good information. I am so sorry to hear about bad manners from tourist in your beautiful country. I will be there in September 2024.
Konichiwa, Kyoto Local-san, I was thinking to myself, "If I had oversized luggage, then could I pay for an extra seat in which to place that luggage?" Then you, Kyoto Local-san, provided the answer of "Yes." Now, I'm in a good Kyoto mood. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤝🇯🇵🚅🧳

Thank you for the comment. Uh… I don’t know about this region… but it’s very crowded in all Japan. So buying in advance is better I think.
