    @pulpnorwood which became actually his most unique picture... and maybe best. Pulp maybe genius but Jackie was so down to earth great/perfect! He should do at least one another adapation... he can do it.

    @pulpnorwood He was planning on adapting either Freaky Deaky or Killshot initially.

    And it won shit tons of awards..
    So when 'Heavens Gate' came out... Most people only bought tickets based on how good The Deer Hunter was.. A lot of them probably never saw a trailer and had NO IDEA what it was about...
    So when they dident get another Multiple Oscar Award wrecking machine movie..
    It was scorned..
    And I mean SCORNED.. that movie got more hate than any other.

    @mrpiki what film did tarentino cast de niro??

  • @subslament
    @subslament 12 лет назад

    And by the way, you mentioned Orson Welles..
    Another director off the top of the head that shared that same situation was
    Michael Cimino.
    Although 'Heavens Gate' was definitely a shitty movie in the first place.
    So it isent exactly like the Pulp Fiction, Citizen Kane scenario..
    I think that movie got EVER MORE hate because this flick was RIGHT AFTER 'The Deer Hunter'
    I mean The Deer Hunter was one of the most amazing film experiences ever. It was a epic, with incredible performances.

    I hate how people have a issue with Jackie Brown.
    They try and shit on Tarantino because of it.. But its their problem, not his. They are expecting some great stylized piece like Pulp Fiction.. I mean it came out right after Pulp..
    But it wasent intended to be in the same style as Pulp Fiction.
    I always see that at the bottom of the list on peoples favorite Tarantino movies..
    Also you cant condemn Tarantino for True Romance.. He dident direct it.. It would have been WAY different

    Jackie Brown has gotten so much shitty reviews, not from critics, but just word of mouth.. And that word of mouth stemmed from what we talked about. People were expecting another Pulp, or even something better.
    And this is weird to think about... But Jackie Brown STILL has word-of-mouth following it, which started 15 years ago. Professional/Respectable critics never panned it. It won awards.. The bad reputation is from movie fans spreading it like wild fire.

    @mrpiki ohh yeahh (duhh) ive seen it loads man top film! and yess i agree

  • @subslament
    @subslament 12 лет назад

    But yeah on the fact that the movie was basically set up for failure before it was even released...
    Critics actually did a Reassessment years later.
    They realized that a lot of negative reviews came from everyones preconcieved idea that it would be as great as The Deer Hunter... They realized that even more people hated it before seeing it from all the bad press.. Like Cimino doing 50 takes on 1 scene.. Blasting mad coke up his face..
    so yeah sorry for all the replys.. just bored

    I like reservoir dogs more than Pulp Fiction, I'm not saying that I don't Pulp Fiction, but Reservoir is a Masterpiece

  • @subslament
    @subslament 12 лет назад

    Yeah man. Thanks for replying too.
    Because thats exactly what I wanted to say, but you typed it a lot better.
    But yeah, I really hate when people either talk shit on Jackie Brown, or say "I like all his movies, but Jackie Brown was beat."
    I always ask them.. Why was it lame to you? What was the issue? And it turns out most of them can't answer because they eventually come out and say "Wellllll I mean.. I havent seen it in awhile...." Or "Well... I only saw parts." So im like THE FUCK!
