one thing that's cool about relic guitars. You don't have to worry about it getting beat up and damaging the body. This gives some freedom in the approach to the instrument
Wow, I'm just 2 minutes in but holy crap! That's a light string gauge imo. 10-52 is my preferred choice for D Standard. For Drop C I'm usually making a custom set and put at least a .54 on top. But whatever works for you. There are no rules regarding string gauges. The discussion usually revolves around tone vs. playability.
Rig is compact with the setup sounding pretty awesome and your string gauge preferences. It's kind of wild to think that Eddy Van Halen would boil his string sets just prior to a concert. I'm guessing it was to normalize the strings, giving them a constant tone quality. The quality and consistency have come a long way since his fabulous Frankenstein was created. Tack 👍🏼 🎸
I never understood why you have to cut off the ball end of string on a floyd , why didnt they make the floyd mode that easy that you just put the ball end in the floyd and tighten it up !! It gives really no meaning ...
The system is designed to be as simple as possible, while being as dependable as possible. Adding string holes would have introduced complexities. Ibanez added string through holes on the Edge Pro, but seemingly nobody cared about them. Anyway, you do not have to cut the balls off, just string it backwards, leaving them at your tuners.

D standard - the best
I love those relics!
😎Cool segment! Always nice to listen to what goes into & the mechanics of what is behind a tour.
Coffee with Josh , can't wait!
I've been putting strings on backwards for decades, ball end at the tuners, Floyd rose yes

back in the 80's I used Picato strings and they started at 006's.
We would all use 006s if they didn’t snap easily and had enough output as 10s 😅
Can you show setting intonation?
There’s already tons of videos on it, Gibson has several great ones using their kramers.
I saw the title of the video... And then I saw the bridge 😬

I've always feared that Yngwie Malmsteen moments can give you AIDS
