The 2013 iPhone 5s was a huge leap forward back in its day, bringing Touch ID to the iPhone for the first time, and a 64-bit architecture. However, considering it’s just turned a decade old, let’s take a look at how well it’s held up as of now, and whether you could actually still use one as your daily driver..

Well. I have had an iPhone 5s for so long. For its time it was ahead other phones in some ways. For example it could play some mobile games that even newer androids could not play and it had Touch ID and the build quality was 👌🏻. And don’t forget the look. And back the day small phones was not that deal breaker for most people. The camera was also good. Speaker was better than any mobile phone. But the screen was not. The only weak thing was the screen for its time. Because I had a galaxy s3 at same time. It had amazing screen

@@imunavailable752 I'm using an apple ID like example (u have an iphone 12 and have higher version and have apps downloded like yt and so on and you log in that apple ID to ur iphone 5s and now ur able to download higher version apps) that's what I do

i used the 5s from 2019 to 2021 i currently use a 12 mini but man did this video bring back memories

I just had a battery replacement about a month ago. Screen on time is not what it used to be but it's great for light usage and media consumption. It is not my primary iPhone.
How much screen on time do you get?
Did the replacement give back its original screen time?
I never used a 5s, but virtually everyone around me did in my early high school years. It was iconic. My friends all had them, and eventually I got an SE which had the same form factor. I also have since used a regular 5 for a year.
This is still the only iPhone I've ever bought and still used to this day. Bought it a month when it released, then moved to Samsung after 3 years of buying it. Still use it as my secondary device along with my S23 FE.
I'm probably never gonna buy another iPhone unless they make something that looks very, very similar to the 5S
If you like how the 5s looks than you should look into the original iPhone SE it uses the 5s shell, Touch ID and same screen but has the A9 chipset, & 2Gb of ram found in the iPhone 6s + has support to iOS 15! Which has a lot more than what iOS 12 has to offer. The original SE with a fresh battery isn’t bad either most apps today are still fully supported on the device.
@UpwardOpossum9 I was planning on getting a 2016 SE, but I'm waiting till my 5S explodes
Like UpwardOpossum said, the SE is a great upgrade you should consider. Otherwise you could also upgrade to the 13 or 12 mini which have a very similar form factor but an all screen design and new(er) hardware.
@@ykjali Though, as per a lot of people who've now used the 12 Mini (and 13 Mini) by this point, the battery life isn't actually all that good even after just a couple of months. As in, the typical user having to charge 2-3 times in a regular day once the battery health is below 89%. But, I don't own one, so I don't know. All I'm saying is, most 12 Minis are 6x the price of an second-hand original SE 1st gen which you can find battery replacements for very easily.
I've just updated it to Iphone 11 and the difference is huge. I would've still prefered the 5s for it's compactness but today's app updates making it impossible for it's utilization.

I used mine from 2015 to 2020, I could use it more but I needed wifi calling so I upgraded to an SE 1st gen. I still use it like an iPod touch tho

I got one of these for my collection in near mint condition about this time last year. The seller brought it shortly after the iPhone 6 came out and used it all the way until this time last year.
Mine is pretty mint, but the Touch ID doesn’t work. But I will try and reload the os with iTunes and it might work.
But if not, you can delay the passcode input by 4 hours and you can then open the phone by pressing the home button twice.
It still smooth and fun to use by the way

Great device. Even in these days! After Galaxy S2 it was the excellent experience for me back in 2015. Even now iphone 5s on iOS 12.5.7 is very responsive. I'd say that its camera isn't much worse than the cameras in modern Android devices under 400$.

I miss the small size
I was thinking of purchasing one because 1) my hands are very small and 2) I think youtube shorts and insta shorts and the like have ruined my focus and got me addicted to my phone…but the 5s might not support these features and help me get rid of my bad habit…

@@James__Smith You are mad stupid, S5 was introduced in 2014 while 5s in 2013. Another thing with iPhones is that they don’t need high specs to compete with other phones. They use the ones they have to the maximum, if Samsung still had 48MP cameras they would be catastrophic while Apple still rocks with 48MP cameras. That’s the difference between androids and iPhones, if iPhones had that much of specs as android do they firstly would be hella expensive and no other phone would be able to reach them. (Reminder that 15 pro max still has the best battery of all phones)

I got one for less than 40 buck just needed a new battery. As far i see this phone hold up quite well with now app like whatsapp and social media. Heat is a bonus feature

For every app I want to install... it says required ios 15 or more... mine support only 12.5.7😂
Yeah unfortunately it’s been cut off from support since 2019

I still wonder why apple designed the iphone 4 & 5 which has the most beautiful design then designing iphone 6 which has the ugliest design.
Btw, your video sample being jittery is the result of being in ios 12... i have used the phone since 2016 when it is in ios 10 and it is much smoother.

Iphone is created with simply poorest battery capacity. How on iphone 13 is just being installed with under 5000mAh battery and due ios is olso power hunger. Wiko as unfamous brand is the first installing 5000mAh battery on they wiko power u20 and become the best experiance for me when battery still having 60% after 2 days without any charging and wacthing youtube over 6 hours daily using data, play a games, social media and surfing on long timez.
