@1:15 "Wednesday, darling, you're excused. Please turn off the phonograph". And Wednesday replied: "Yes, mother", and did so. No arguing. No complaining. No sulking. Just a well-adjusted child obeying her loving mother. The writers of the show knew how to portray good manners, and the actors on the show delivered. And considering that the show was about a bizarre, eerie family, the message of them being loving, wholesome, and well-adjusted speaks volumes to talent of everyone involved in the show.

That record player, at the opening, was not what we were hearing. They made it appear as if Wednesday put on that record -- and in a way, she did. But that record was not what we were hearing. Rather, we were hearing what someone on the staff turned on (probably a reel-to-reel tape -- and they had to have the tape in the exact position for it to start playing the instant they hit the "play" button). Their timing was spot-on, in relation to the cartridge's stylus making contact with the vinyl. Why not just let the record play? Because timing is everything, and they could not rely on Wednesday hitting the record's groove in exactly the right place, and that the record's "spin" position would be exactly where it needed to be for the music to start, at the beginning of the song, and start immediately. The only way to have the first note in the song start, the instant the stylus hit the record, was for someone to press "start" on a taped copy of the song. And their timing was perfect. The above is one of countless, professional, unseen details, prepared in advance, and performed by the staff, that contributed to the success of the show.
