Thanks for this video, this helped me fix the problem I had with my Triton router. After a year it would drop anytime I would try to make an adjustment with the fine adjustment knob. I opened it up as you have shown here and I saw there was dust caked on the orange plastic cog wheel shown at 2:30, the micro release. It also looks a bit worn. Because of that it would not slide in to the metal gear properly and the whole assembly would slide over the axis. After a good cleaning it works better, but I will need to replace the part as well.
One of the reasons I only have the smallest version of this model as it doesn't have the ratchet handle,it may not have the power of the others but I use my very old Elu 177 E of 27 years and still going strong for heavy duty work !
I am on my second Triton Router. After two years, the first one failed with symptoms you have described. I ordered the second one because I was in the middle of a critical customer project when it failed. I am now on my second Triton and it too just failed with again the same problem. This time with your fantastic video as an aid, I will be fixing both of them. That way I have a backup because almost certainly this will be an ongoing problem. Thanks so much for the videos. One question. In part two, the brushes appeared to be already installed and I don't think they were in at the end of Part 1. I am assuming you installed them off camera after the disassembly and then just left them installed when your part arrived. Is this correct?
I have a mofo001 that the speed control broke on. I loved it mounted in my table but it started changing speeds on its own. It would suddenly speed up scary high then slow back down. The replacement part is so expensive I have to consider replacing it. It seems to be a common problem by the comments I have seen. I bought it at the Woodworking show maybe 10 years ago. I may buy a new model at Rockler but would like to know if that problem has been resolved before spending that much.
A welcome video. My triton MOF001 has just developed the same problem - after only 5 weeks! The supplier has offered to send me the necessary part rather than have me ship the router to them for repair. I now think I'll accept their offer, providing they will carry out the repair if my efforts are unsuccessful. Did you need circlip pliers to remove the fixing rings?
I had to remove the brushes to re-insert the unit together- now I am struggling to re-insert the brushes to stay in place While I replace the screw cover caps. Any thoughts? Great video!
It has been a while since I've been inside that router or have had the brushes out. If I remember correctly. I didn't have too much of an issue. just sorta had to line everything up I remember using two hands. Sorry I can't be more helpful. I just don't remember. Let me know how it goes.
I have my router mounted in a table, when I adjust height using side grip or micro adjust Router drops down and does not engage. I have a replacement worm screw and worm wheel, I am now thinking I need more parts any ideas?
Hi. I have similar problem. It is so caled "worm shaft", part code TRA378 for micro adjustment. And is same plastics. Dismantling was easy, and i removed that shaft. I also found that brushes have broken off edges,so ihave to get those to. Colector is fine. My qestion to you is. Where did you ordered your part ? Can you send me or post any link ? Thank you in advance.
I have the same problem only I broke mine by trying to raise the motor too far to lock the spindle. My locking pin is not engaging enough to lock the spindle. Now I need to replace several parts!
The armature in mine burnt out, ordered a new one and relaced it..... these engineers need some more schooling. Before you can remove the armature you need to remove a thin plastic cup like insulation bowl that is held in place with a thin O ring (almost) . Got it out using a very thin flexable flat steel tool kind of like a feeler gauge. What a pain in the*****.Putting it back was a fun event..... not! Anything else breaks & it goes in the trash!
I just wonder if the axl broke because of the spring you still had there and the instructions say that it MUST be removed. The spring needs to have enough umph to return the router to up position. If the router is upside down with the spring the axl and gear mechanism need to deal with the weight of the router plus the spring load = at least double the load. Of course the axl should be able to tolerate that, and it should be of metal, but maybe this is the reason it broke.
I don't think it's what caused it to break, I over cranked it. Since I've made this video I've Figured it out and gone ahead and pulled out the spring anyway.
You did Very good on getting it back together and working. I am going to attempt this now. Thanks

That large spring is supposed to be removed when your using the router mounted to a table, it is only reinstalled for plunge work
Correct Paddy

Wondering why you reinstalled that big spring if you’re mounting it straight back in the table?
That's a very powerful router. I like it

Nice job. Do you know if the parts are available from a dealer in the US.
I don't know, it took me a while to get the parts. I didn't see anything in the US at the time I ordered them.

@@TheinternetwoodworkerGPlus Good advice regarding the spring. Should extend the life in the router table.
Dammit I want to see how to take that stupid on / off safety turd off.
Buy a router in 2020 using and motor burn
