Historically, the 2 monitor setup for sim racing has been ignored in the past (except with projectors) for putting 2 large bezels in the center of your vision , but with the size of your screens, how thin frame bezels have become and the lens bars masking away what you can't see in the middle, it looks like your setup works pretty darn good! If you were to strictly drive modern formula type cars that now have the annoying halo bar in the middle of your view, such as playing F12022, I'd say you aren't really losing anything at all!
Triples are great, single ultra wide is ok but never dual monitors. I don’t even mind the bezels when racing but the blurred, distorted stripe from the bezel free kit is distracting. Lovely work on the PC builds.
The bezels were so thin anyway, I'm not really sure what the clear plastic strip was supposed to help with ...... it seems to make things worse. I'd like to see a short follow-up vid without the plastic thingy. The rig looks like a ton of fun.
It's the ASUS Bezel Free kit. Very popular amongst sim racers. You may not think the bezel would be a hinderance, but when it's right in the middle of your view, it really can be, especially if your monitors aren't 100% perfectly aligned. Even seat height can change how much the monitors "blend" into each other. This is one reason why many sim racers prefer a triple monitor setup, partly because it keeps the front view bezel free.
Great video, just getting into Sim Racing. Currently have 2 27" 1440p monitors with a 5900x/ 7900xt build. Bought a Playseat Trophy and a Moza R12 setup. Not many people covered Dual Monitor setups. Eventually I'll add a third.
Radeon has always had better multi-monitor support than the competition (except matrox, and that's ALL matrox does these days) going back to the ATI days. One of the reasons I stuck with them for so long. Even now my 3060TI is still merely adequate in multi-monitor.
I need this setup. I enjoy sim racing but when you don't have the bumps, g's, and feel of being in a real car, it gets hard for me to react accordingly to how the car behaves...loved this video!
I don't want to be a killjoy, but speaking for myself that line in the middle there's just no way especially with spending that much money. Trust me I get it, I spent 10K+ on my system at some point you got to say enough. I would just bite the bullet and add a third monitor. Personally, I prefer the Corsair Flex because you can have whatever curvature you want within reason and the response of OLED is far superior. It's funny, but the last three-way monitor I had was back in the day of an i7-980x in 4-way SLI. Boy times have changed. Today how I play is Call of Duty. Anyway enjoy! You can always add a third monitor.
I think that I would get so used to the bezel thing being there that it wouldn't bother me. Like when you get used to something it start to be the norm.
Super cool build but the bezel in the middle would bug my ocd majorly! Would take away from immersion and my ability to focus. Still super cool build and unique!
How does the 7900 xtx handle the resolution? I have the new Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo 57“ Monitor since a week now and my 6950 XT can’t handle more than 60 fps on the highest settings in Assetto Corsa. The Monitor has 8K which is really demanding so I don’t now if I should buy the 7900 xtx or the RTX 4090..
I wonder how much it makes you want to build your own racing SIM setup at your own West Coast Studio? Though I can’t help but worry that the results might’ve been somewhat unfairly impacted by using 4x16GB instead of 2x32GB RAM modules with compromised XMP compatibility…
RE: Your display issues on the RTX 4090 ... Yeah, I encountered that myself after I bought triple 4K monitors (i know i know, it's my "end-game" setup). Could not get all 3 monitors to work, spent countless days researching, tried infinite monitor & Windows configurations, bought multiple DP cables, etc. At best I could only get 2 monitors working at a time. Long story short, I had to sell the 4090, and "downgrade" to the RX 7900 XTX, which does a *far* better job at handling multiple displays. I do miss the 4090, though.😭Counting on the 50-series to make things right.
Im surprised it scored 37,400 on CB23. Im wondering if its cause of the monitor wize. The 13900k i have scored just over 40,000 with a quick ETU over clock. Then Asus came out with a new bios version and my performance dropped 3 to 23% depending on bios settings... weird.. Also had issues with it freezing when trying to run the new CB 2024.... im tempted to try the new white Kingston ddr5 ram. I ised their ddr4 3200 and it was ridiculously stable compared to the (i can't believe I can't remember my ram. Must be my old age.😅) 6400
I think if I was running a 2 monitor setup I would have the main monitor centered and the other monitor to the side acting as the "passenger side". It might be a little weird but I think I would get used to it.
Amazing video! Thanks for the insights! 😊💪 I’m on triples and don’t wanna miss my bezel free kit. To answer your question: no way I’m looking at the distorted prisms right in the middle. That’s not gonna work for me at all… it’s the most important area on the screen for me. 😂 you guys keep it up! 😊👋
In the video the center plastic piece bugged me, sure it worse in real life. Have you tried sim racing in VR, would that be better? Also while not as big a single 49" display might work great. I love the concept however and the straight pipe cooling looks awesome. Of note with multi monitor setups. According to a couple of eye doctors there is a percentage of the population, about 33% that have real issues with bevels like multi displays have. I am one of those people my eyes are drawn to the transition and my brain never filters it out like other people do. For this reason I can not wear bifocal lenses, even lineless.
Wow that’s wild! You can’t wear bifocals!? So I’ve tried VR numerous times and it’s always made me extremely nauseous 😢 - thank you for your comments!!!
@@AndietheLab Yeah the no bifocal thing is frustrating. :-) However it also means that multi display spanning for me is a mess as any kind of transition creates a distraction. As for the VR Nausea, it and feeling ill with 3D are also known issues that again effect a decent percentage of the population.
One big caveat here. Only 2 DP's on the Radeon graphics card. So that's a hard pass if you're a sim racer and use triples or want to use triples in the future imo. Yeh you could use 2x DP and 1x HDMI. Buy then you're limiting your 165hz+ monitors to 120hz. Such a shame Asus as the performance looks great. This would be really good if you prefer playing on a single 49" curved display though.
I didn’t realize I would get dog pr0n on top of what seems to be an ad for Lian Li. Jokes aside, this is a stupendous episode and if future robeytech videos will be of this quality, those Canadians should be scared. I just have one criticism, Deb, you still don’t take the apex of turns. Also, no mention of engaging your community with opportunities to race together or stream like you used to. Nvidia should be making offers to sponsor a redemption episode right now.
Only you would have called this dog pron. and there’s nothing wrong with the O11D, it’s perfect for matrix 7 watercoolong. As to increases community engagement, noted, maybe you can fund this with more superchats?
Sorry I just watched the full video but FSR performance is pretty much a joke! Is flimmering so much that you just can’t use it, You get insanely fatigued and your head and eyes hurt with that much FSR! Only the best looking FSR is somewhat acceptable and even then I usually prefer the native resolution because it is definitely visible when used!
Even i liked your video, 2 monitor setup is gimmick, and every simracer knows this, tripples are the way to go and 27” is plenty enough. I had VR HP G2 testes Varjo aero, and still tripples are more comfy to ke, yes i like VR but some has too low FOV some too low sweet spot and etc…
Doesnt make any sense at all. No issues wjth 3 displays and nvidia. Most sim racers I know use nvidia especially for displays. Regardless enjoy, just weird the so called issues you had. Maybe the 3090 does but ive yet to see a 4090 not come in clutch for sim racers with mutiple displays and sound.
I really think this plastic thing is absolutely unbearable! I’m much more happy with the new 57“ g9 neo! Oh and btw. The screens are way to far away to have a realistic fov. Just imagine yourself sitting in a car, you definitely don’t see the world around you in that super weird way it was displayed on your screens. Not even the correction is working at such high fov distortion rates.. Everything that exceeds 500mm viewing distance looks off..
"Hey guys WIll here" 🤣 Thanks for the shoutout and glad our videos helped.
😃
Did your rig is incredible!

This video , and concept as a whole is just so excellent! Well done guys really awesome video and project

For a sim racer and two screens meeting right in the middle of your view like that would drive us insane. Go with 3 and get two bezel free kits 👌🏼

How crazy would it be if they did make an OLED version of this? But thank you for your comments and watching!!!! 🥳
I think that I would get so used to the bezel thing being there that it wouldn't bother me. Like when you get used to something it start to be the norm.
My husband agrees with you! Function over form!
A setup for sim racing 2 monitor ....This is weird thinking, I'll stick with my 3 x 32 @ 240 mhz though, nice rig btw
Super cool build but the bezel in the middle would bug my ocd majorly! Would take away from immersion and my ability to focus. Still super cool build and unique!
I use the bezel free kit with my 3 32” curved screens with adapters to make them fit properly and I have to say these things work amazingly well.
I know! So proud of my former employee 🥰🥰🥰

The bezel kinda feels a bit like a halo, but you can't see around it because of the flat displays

We’re thinking flight sim at west coast studio. Other than cinebench score - things ran pawfectly

congrats nice rig you built
That's a great setup. I feel like if your thumbnail included the simrig you will have a lot more clicks
Way to go Deb! This is amazing!
Thanks Dave, always thankful for your support and friendship! 🎉🎉

Definitely!
Spent alot of money but forgot the most important one... The pedals 😂 V3s ..

Yeah, you need to either go to 3 displays, cut to 1 display, or live with the natural bezal. That plastic dead center looks terrible.
Fun fact, women typically have a wider field of view than men in both axis.

Great video! Love love love it. Not enough Simracing focus content by big, general channels. Great change.
Or buy a car for 25 k
No thanks- better with AI and a lot cheaper
