Would you recommend secrets akumal or maroma for a nice relaxing mom daughter getaway? Also want to see wildlife/sea life. And what is travel like to akumel from the Cancun airport?
We haven't been to Maroma Beach, but we've heard that the resorts are very similar to each other. One great thing about Akumal is that you can snorkel with the sea turtles, which is amazing! The trip from the airport is very easy, and about a 90 minute ride.
I'd say both are lovely. Beach is " nicer " at Maroma but Akumal u have the sea turtles right off the beach. Both properties are owned by same owner so they are similar. Akumal very tropical maroma less vegetation more sleek. They both have fabulous staff and similar food. Akumal lots of entertainment. I think Maroma is more laid back. Fabulous beach. You could drive to 5th Ave in playa del Carmen to shop.

The drive from the airport to Akumal is at least an hour that's the only negative for Akumal
