They deserve more recognition, which will come over time, through people like you (us) who appreciate their art.

    Hello 👱‍♀Hanna; Good to hear that you were able to find & now own records that were on your all-time super, super want list. Hoping you did not 💲pay too much for the newest acquisitions. Locating records at a good 💰🪙price always helps on a 🧠conscious & 💤subconscious level. Currently we have found needed records & ones in which we passed on due to condition. Kudos to you, keep ⛏digging, searching. 🙋‍♀Tina & 🙋‍♂Pat!~

      Hi Tina and Pat! I did splurge on a few of these...but only because there have been no record shows in our area for months. So, it's all good! Haha! Bummer that you saw records you needed but had to pass on them because of poor condition. I hate when that happens. Hope you stumble on excellent copies in the near future! Be well!

    Good Morning Hanna 🌞 - Great Bass from Michael Dempsey on the first Cure album. He joined The Associates & plays on the magnificent Sulk album with Billy MacKenzie & Alan Rankine. 4AD in the house with Lush & Cocteau Twins. Manchester checking in with The Fall & Buzzcocks ( Nothing Left on Side 2 is my favorite song on Love Bites ) Love All Fall Down by The Sound .. very dark. Just saw Depeche Mode ( New album is 👍) & seeing The Cure in May. It's the 80's again ! ✌️

    Great Haul. I love The Cramps, have that on a double album cd but have never seen it on vinyl. I have been mostly buying originals and now have Siousxie from The Scream through Peepshow. The peel session records are always great and you can't beat anything The Smiths.They are also a great live band and Rank is another must have. I can't remember if you have mentioned Alcest but I have been obsessed with them lately. They are a metal shoe gaze but the music is really beautiful and relaxing.

      Thank you, Matt! Yay, so awesome that you've got the essential Siouxsie LPs! I'd love to find one more on vinyl that I just have on CD for now. Alcest have some nice textures to their music but I'm not a fan of the screaming, which I know doesn't happen on every song of theirs. I still need Rank by the Smiths. Cheers!

    Welcome back Hannah!! Good choices...huge Cocteau's & MBV fan...actually saw MBV live back in 1992 opening for Dinosaur Jr supporting Loveless...loudest fucking concert I ever witnessed...was right upfront against the speakers WITHOUT ear protection...the agony & the ecstasy indeed...my ears were ringing for like 5 days, the balcony seats were vibrating & many ran out of the venue holding their ears in pain, LOL...also saw Lush twice, first in 1994 with Weezer opening & second on their 2015 reunion tour...short-lived as they transformed into another band Puroushka (forgot how it's spelled)...also Cherry Red just released a cool dreampop/shoegaze boxset I just got, a 4CD set called Cherry Stars Collide...followup to the 2016 5CD set Still In A Dream...hope all is well...

      Hiya, Lawrence! Thanks for the comment and the warm welcome back! Oh yeah, I've heard that those MBV shows were deafeningly loud...dangerous levels. Cheers!

    Great to see you back.
    Some amazing albums and EPs.
    Hatful of Hollow was an exciting release, especially so soon after the debut. The production of The Smith S/T has always sounded muddy and is my least favorite of their LPs. So the improved versions on Hatful were very welcomed.
    You are right The Frenz Experiment was not met with enthusiasm at the time. I like the sound and the brighter production. A great find.
    Does your vinyl have Hit The North? It was a stand-alone single at the time. If so great to see it has been included.

    Jealous here, Hanna "Swallow" is a top 3 MBV song for me, along with "Drive it all over me" and "When you Sleep" I've been looking for a fair priced copy of that EP for a long time. Kudos for finding it!😄I had that Love's Easy Tears EP for years, I sold it in the 90s so I need to get it again, it's an absolute classic imo. That 5 minute version of Surfin' Bird on Gravest hits is off the rails great. Holy grail records indeed!

      Love's Easy Tears is a top Cocteau Twins ep for sure. I hope you can get it for your collection once again! IMO you can't go wrong with any of their eps starting with Sunburst & Snowblind and continuing through the 80s.

    Hello Hanna. It's really good to see you again. I have Three Imaginary Boys and used to have Boys Don't Cry on Cassette. Would really love to find it again. Thanks for past video recommendations for Modern Lovers and Plasticland. Have picked up a few releases and really love them. Modern Lovers debut has become a favorite. Really looking forward to hearing Idaho and The Toms. Since you are a huge fan of The Sound it bears repeating. Propaganda (1979 recordings, released in 1999) has become far and away my favorite from the band. A must listen. I don't hear Graveface Records mentioned too often. Another band on their label is Lava Children. They only have an ep and a short album. If you like Suburban Lawns (and I know you do) give them a listen. Super quirky, great stuff with female vocal. Great acquisitions Hanna! Thanks as always

    Hanna and Beetlejuice are back! You make my day. The Cure-Boys Don't Cry (1980) and The Smiths-Hatful of Hollow (1984) are truly exceptional albums. Here in São Paulo, Brazil there's an independent label called Hellion Records that releases classic albums by Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and unknown rock bands from the 70s. This Hellion Records is a true ''hero'' that still releases records and CDs in a Brazil where culture was forgotten by the fascists for the past 6 years. Latest CDs I've found recently are Warhorse-Warhorse (1970), Fuzzy Duck-Fuzzy Duck (1971), Chicken Shack-Imagination Lady (1972), Granicus-Granicus (1973) and Baker Gurvitz Army-Baker Gurvitz Army (1974). All released by this label. By the way, nice shirt from Joy Division-Unknown Pleasures (1979).🖤 Take care and see you next time. Cheers!

    Great finds! My latest Cramps record I picked up is "Urgh...the Complete Show". The song "Tear It Up" was used in the "Urgh... A Music War" film, and this is the full set of that show. Also recently got an original copy of their "What's Inside A Girl?" 12". I usually send people not familiar with the Smiths to either Hatful of Hollow or the Queen is Dead, so killer find on that Hatful record. Killer scores on those Cocteau, MBV and Tubeway Army ones too. I'm super stoked to see that Go Sailor record behind you! I've only known 1 other person in my life that has heard of them. I picked up one of their 7"s in the mid-90's just because it was on Lookout Records. Back then I was huge into pop-punk and bought almost everything I found on that label, and I loved it instantly. Hey Hanna, great to hear from you again, happy you've found so many grails. I agree with your comments about Hatful of Hollow. That version of Back To The Old House is so beautiful, and Please Please Please &c was the first song I ever learned to play on guitar (bad introvert!). Fantastic collection of Cocteau Twins, I love their EPs too - look forward to your ranking video. You're so right about The Fall's rhythms - the twin drummer line-up in the early eighties was particularly amazing. There's a RUclips clip of John Peel introducing them playing Smile (one of my favourite Fall songs, almost Beefheartian) on The Tube, their first national TV appearance, and it's stunning. Looking forward to getting Deerhoof's new record, their first studio album! Have you heard their version of MBV's Lose My Breath? I love it, though many are appalled by their audacity.

I love that you got the Lush LP, and Idaho (I've *never* come across any Idaho on vinyl, not here or even when I was overseas). "Year After Year" is really, really good. Tubeway Army is a great recommendation. I was able to sample some of their songs and it's good! I've always liked Gary Numan, but never checked out Tubeway Army on its own. Girl...I cannot believe you found The Gits "Seafish Louisville" on vinyl. I really like this record too. I see that Go Sailor record in the lower left! Must check out Modern Eon. Seeing The Fall "Frenz Experiment" makes me miss the whole 2 The Fall LPs I used to own. Cocteau Twins original UK press and "Treasure!" I do not think I've heard "Spangle Maker." Funny about Drastic Plastic, I would usually pop in there if it was open on my visits. Congrats on the Lush album, nice score. I just recently showed that Numan album and talked about how it was recorded which was quite interesting and how his musical life was changed. Part of my revisiting RHP was attempting a cover version of Take Me Out and I realized that my detuned piano threw my vocals off, but it has an off-tune charm. Mark has the most haunting and heartbreaking voice, even when he does covers of John Denver. 😆

    The great thing about Hatful is the alt lyric takes as well as the track listing. Obviously you have to have Louder Than Bombs to get everything comp wise, but Hatful is great. Especially the Japanese versions of Hatful, which sound the best to me. I also have that UK reissue and it pales in comparison, but it’s a must own nonetheless.

      Hi Cary! I also have an early press of Louder Than Bombs that I scored for $10 a few years ago. The cover is a bit mangled at the corners but plays great! Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to stumble upon a Japanese press of Hatful of Hollow! Cheers!

    Re: Drastic Plastic closing
    Purely speculation on my part, but, when a shop has been around a while and ONLY sold new, then suddenly start selling used, that's often a desperate move to reverse a shrinking cash flow.
    A legendary (for our area) shop had been open about 25 years when the owner died. This left his partner by himself. After a couple years, he started selling his personal collection in the store. He'd even caught on to the vinyl comeback before most, started stocking more vinyl, fewer CDs, but it was too late. Old clientele were dying off and the internet was restricting the new blood available.
    Just my 2 bits.

      @TheOmahaIntrovert  Год назад

      Seems Drastic Plastic has tried 3x regarding having a store, so I don't foresee them ever coming back now. Kind of strange they are no longer. I at least hope they keep doing reissues of out-of-print or rarer albums. Thank you for sharing your 2 cents on this!

    Just came across your channel, nice to see someone on RUclips discussing a lot of the bands that I collect, as a lot of my time nowadays is spent tracking down test pressings or acetates to add to my collection I have a lot of holy grail days, but recent great finds for me are a test pressing of Pre-millennium tension by Tricky and you know your right 7” promo single by Nirvana.

      Thanks for stumbling upon my channel! Seeking out test pressings and acetates must be fun. With the vinyl resurgence, things are getting harder to track down. Cheers!

    Hey Hannah! Bought fewer albums recently, but invested in an IFI XCan headphone amp, after much research. Woweee!! Even has Bluetooth so now the phone even sounds good for a change! It just sounds phenomenal. Worth every penny. I need all the MBV albums, I’m remiss on them.

    • @TheOmahaIntrovert

      @@TheOmahaIntrovert I got some more planar headphones and they just eat power, the only real reason I got the IFI. But it's nice to have Bluetooth too. I'm missing too many records, alas. It's maddening I cannot find much alternative music anymore here on LI. The record stores here either push super expensive vinyl now, but boring stuff, or, their used CDs are also like moldy old
      hippie music and such, you cannot find punk, alt., goth, industrial, electro, whatever anymore here. One store actually had a Controlled Bleeding vinyl box set three years ago, they wanted $500 for it or whatever. I"m like...nah. I did listen to the MBV EPs yesterday on the amp, via the phone, and that sounded pretty darned good. I used my cheaper Pioneer lightweight headphones, they're good for mobile use. Great bass.

    • @thiscorrosion900
      @thiscorrosion900 Год назад

      Here's a question: if you headed out to the main record stores in Omaha, near home, today, could you still potentially find copies of say, the CDs (used or new)
      of a band like MBV, or would it only be vinyl? I was just wondering. All I know is, on LI or even NYC now, it would be a fool's errand for me to try to find those
      records or CDs anywhere here. Your chances are almost nil. Again, if this were back in 1991 or 1988, I would just go into the city if necessary, or later,
      the Tower Records on LI here, and I would generally find the CDs or vinyl or cassette, even, of all the MBV albums. It's very distressing. It's nice that we
      can buy or hear anything online now, but locally you're kind of out of luck. I wish we had a store like Amoeba in L.A. but we don't anymore. To me it's
      more inexcusable that NYC lacks a store like that now. Rough Trade in Brooklyn wasn't bad, but that died too, and their prices were generally. super high.
      If I go into a store on L.I. and ask for MBV, The Sisters of Mercy, or even Bauhaus, they would stare at you like you have five heads! So lame.

    • @thiscorrosion900
      @thiscorrosion900 Год назад

      What we would do back in the later 80s and early 90s here on LI was take the train into the city and go on massive book, record CD etc buying orgies,
      and bring all the goodies back to LI, since good luck finding that stuff here. Even posters, etc. There was once this huge store in the W. Village
      called French Kisses and they had gigantic subway posters and all kinds of rare rock and roll ephemera, best poster selection ever. At least LI then
      had a few good record stores that would stock indie releases, and all that, the situation wasn't so dire back then. I once corresponded for a while
      with Moe Tucker, in the mid 90s, and she was asking me if any of the nearby LI indie shops would stock her stuff, or be interested, her solo stuff, or singles,
      and I gave her the number of Titus Oaks Records in Hicksville, which I used to drop tons of money at for years, was once an excellent shop!
      I think she called them, not sure. I'm sure they would have been tickled if she had. But they also finally went out of biz around 1999 or so.
      You could even get good records in the 70s and 80s at Record World in the malls, etc., and the lowly store Korvettes, which had a solid record dept.
      back in the day. When Tower showed up it was like icing on the cake! And then......oh how the mighty have fallen! I used to go into Titus Oaks
      all through the 80s and they always had every new new wave album, tape, etc., and an entire wall of the latest WLIR/college radio top albums and
      EPs, 12" singles, dance singles, etc. DJs must have been using them as a primary source, I can only imagine.

    I was shopping at Drastic Plastic way back when they had their first shop on 24th & N and their first Old Market location on 13th and Howard (old Subterranean Cafe location). They were the back bone of the punk scene in Omaha for the longest time. After they started up Impact Merchandising the record store got put on the back burner IMO. They had a good run with those album reissues but then they closed the store only to reopen the bar/restaurant with the record shop upstairs. I personally thought they were over priced and the selection pretty weak. I’ve know a few people who worked at Impact and said the owner Mike Howard was just awful to work for. Who’s know why they shut the doors down this time.

      Hi Joey! I heard a few rumors that the owner of Drastic Plastic was difficult and that there were some really rude bartenders at the Monster Club. I can't speak to if any of that is true since I don't know. It's just a huge bummer they are gone. I thought their selection was pretty much catered to my music taste, which is why I liked them a lot, hehe! R.I.P. Drastic Plastic!
