Ah, man, this takes me BACK! Best counter general to Air back in the day? The Laser one, oddly. Iunno if he's been nerfed or what, but the Laser general's combination of high firepower combined with the instant smack-down of those hit-scan lasers just plucked entire air wings right out of the sky, leaving them free for an unmolested push of armor. Especially when Search and Destroy was enabled!
Honestly General Alexander is the best anti-aircraft general
@@bighaley6882 True. EMP insta-kill missiles are hard to argue against.
@@TrollOfReason but in Zero Hour, Air units can deflect an EMP Missile completely if you flock them against many EMP Missiles or do 1v1 since their laser pointing are OP.
But in Shockwave they don't have those like wtf? It's the only protection the Air units had and SWR Productions removed it and later give it to General Townes.
That's why I never played Airforce in Shockwave because I love spamming many raptors and Aurora's with their laser points bound so no harm against.
@@mr.herobrinegaming844 I agree, I kinda hated it because it kinda ruined the “Air Superiority” aspect of using Air Force, and it kinda makes you rely on Ground Units too. Especially against anti-air from Infantry, Sup.W, Armour and even Spec.W.
@@mr.herobrinegaming844 maybe it's because they rebalanced the EMP patriots. In the original game, 1 EMP patriot missile(not the whole battery) can instakill a helicopter/Plane.

As a person who plays against my dad who just plays Armor now because of Cluster Missiles and Mammoth Tanks, I can without a doubt say that those fucking Phalanxes are a pain in the ass.

You need some Gazer towers to spot stealth fighters, then shove 2 rangers in there to kill ejecting pilots. Phalanxes don't have stealth detection unlike Patriot missiles.
I mean, i just used General Tao to nuke the living hell out of his base....and every other generals base in my wake was glowing too

I had developed a tactic for this particular battle. When you line the NE shoreline with AA, build a few concrete slabs and put the Gazer AA Targeting turret on them. It will detect his planes outside your defenses and remove the stealth. I built one for every two Phalanx turrets. I might try one for three next time. Also garrison two AA soldiers in the Razor turret for added firepower and put a few Vulcan turrets throughout your base. Some of his pilots will land inside your base.
Also, I feel the Gladiator is underpowered against air targets and infantry.

i love ironside but my biggest problem with the guy is that his defence is way too focused to counter a single type instead of everything. phalanx is beast vs aircraft but cant detect stealth and cant even attack ground units, etc. and his defense box requires upgrade after building, making it even longer to come online. in challenge its quite tough to play as him because of the resource, electricity power, and map limitations.
also he really lacking in a artillery cept for howitzer that also locked behind a general promotions. but other than that he's super fun to play because of that badass ARMOR SUPERIORITY
I think if there's anyone in need of a Buff it's ironside. You need to build 4 defences in order to covered.
why oh why do you use anti-air tanks against everything for so long? you have vulcan tanks against infantry, tank killers against armour and mammoth tanks to soak up damage and destroy buildings. And why dont you just flashbang the bad guys in the village? you send too many big units in those narrow streets and you shoot the buildings with all your AA tanks so they ignore the incoming planes. it was a pain to watch.
but at least you did not do it with superweapons
Same. Poor micromanagement on his side tbh but nevertheless its still a decent effort.
chinese gatling cannons are still the best AA.. :D

You probably already tried it but incase you haven’t, yes. Yes it does. It also adds 3 different generals for each faction, then being “Chinese Special Weapons” (General Leang from the challenges), “USA Armour” (Ironside), and “GLA Salvage” (Deathstrike). Each unit mostly have tanks now, including stealth.
I remember there is a mammoth tank in c&c 3 tiberium war？with the same dialogue maybe？

However, the hardest one so far is the GLA Demolition General Juhziz... (If you ask me, based on my experience using General Leang)
the trick is decent ground defence, artillery or air craft to counter his artillery, and taking down his palace asap.
I never Found this general ironside,nor in generals or zero hour can you inform me of that general or is it some certain mod id like to know cause i am a fan of that game ;)

I know this is 9 years ago but my best luck against AI auroras is lining the river with random single infantry to draw their attention. I use this vs Alexander too.
I always felt like the Gladiator was painfully under powered compared to the quad or Gatling tank. Even the avenger had better utility and could take planes down faster.

Install shockwave mod,ifs quite easy.
But for hard general challanges ,ironside is one of the weakes to play with.
Why? Because it lacks counter against longranges and doesnt have proper air support.
With any general of china or usa , we eaily counter thrax buggy and scuds but with ironsids is so hard because aircrafts are weak and expensive and ground defence cant deal properly against them

Seems modified of the mod, I'd say medium but there's no super weapon, which just makes this a lame tank fest.
@@IVAO04ify pretty late but Granger regardless of the difficulty doesn't use Super Weapons.
