I wish I could be like you! This is really mental toughness to be able to give your best outside of a race. I can't do it :-) I need races to test myslef. But as I'm older (44), I'm more into 10k to marathon. Can't really do that without road being closed ;-) So I guess there's also a notion of finding the right route without having to be bothered by cars etc, for a longer distance. I guess 5k TT is ok, but doing loops in "closed" environment is just driving be crazy for longer hahaha. Great work Matt as usual, very inspiring!
Whilst I kind of understand you wanting to know you can just do it, the parkrun will help the solo stuff too. Like unlocking a new level, might not be able to replicate the parkrun solo but it might unlock the extra few seconds you needed. Races and mass participation runs do bring more out of us.
@MattRuns No problem mate, I'm local-ish to you (Middleton) so I know we have a few cracking parkruns near us that can bring that extra bit out. I'm in a similar position as you, got injured and trying to get my parkrun back under 20 again. I like your channel, it's good motivation.
i dont know how you run them 10k times at your weight, your 1 n half of me,i'm around 10stone lol, my 10k pb is 44.20 i was 54.you should try south m/c parkrun platt fields
Definitely true, i usually aim for around 2000 a day when im bringing my weight down, but even if i eat 2500, I'm still trying to control the maniac inside me from eating more. The middle of the night can be terrible, waking up making bottles or changing nappies when the mental defence is weaker and before i know it.. bam, im in the cupboard 😆
Inspirational runner 💪🏻
Great vlog, Matt. Can listen to you talking about training for hours 😁
Appreciate that man

You definitely already have it mate, just fixing up that first km and emptying the tank in the final!
I do a parkrun every week, keeps me honest

Never thought of it that way, tbh mate. One thing can compliment another, really. Very good analogy that 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Calories are probably too low mate, up them to 2500-2600 you’ll stick to calories for longer without binging 👍🏻
