I grew up in Uniondale and Roosevelt, LI, and personally saw Dr. J play from Roosevelt HS, to U Mass, to the ABA, and to the NBA. I attended Temple U, so I was in Phila. when he became a 76er. From Roosevelt Park, Centennial Park, Kennedy Park, Rucker, he rocked the NBA. He is a true legend who changed the game!! He did Strong Island and the 'Velt righteously. We love you Doc!

Dr. J has the two greatest moves; I’ve ever seen. The first was his baseline drive against the Lakers in the 80’ Finals…and the his rock the cradle; dunk on Coop in 1983…I watched both games live 😮….Smh..
Dr. J shook me and my brother's hand after a Sixers vs Knicks game at MSG back in 1982. We were like: "I'm not washing my hand!!!" 😂 Dr. J-Julius Erving was larger than life for a lot of us kids in the late 1970s and early 80s.
Julius Erving paved the way, he lost his brother early and still conducted himself as a great human being on and off the court, never a bitter human being. Real OG of basketball 🏀. I got extra luv for him because his birthday is a day before mine. I remember my older cousins in NYC always talking about Dr J being ☝🏽 of the best.👍🏽🙏🏽

Any time Julius Erving was in the public during his time in the ABA, it was like an Alien just stepped off of a Spaceship --Pat Riley 2:00 💦Tears💦 Right now. At 57 years old, for "Us" that loved Basketball and had no Father around his presence was special. Any time he was interviewed, he spoke like a Dignitary and was just as even keel as you see now. Well worth emulating for contemporary celebrities and adults in general.
The Nets did nothing after the merger in 76, and the Yankees won in 77 and 78. The Reds won in 75,76 Pirates won in 79 and Phillies in 80. So I wouldn't say domination. Now the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup in 76,77,78, and 79. That is the definition of domination in the late 70s.

Not arguable. Prime Dr.J is without doubt the greatest forward to ever lace them up. All due respect to Elgin Larry and Lebron. Erving prime was better.
you all never asked the man about his iconic dunk on Michael Cooper or his move on the baseline on Kareem and Magic..missed opportunities Mark ,but all else great interview
Nah, that question gets asked to him alot along with video evidence. It was great to hear him talk about kats you don't ever hear about like Bill Chamberlin, Willie Sojourner and that stacked crew The Westsiders. Too many good stories here and another New Yorker Mark Jackson helped bring them out. Great history and respect to the Doc. How many hoopers get a song named for them? Let it Flow(For Dr. J)-Grover Washington Jr.
Younger people today will NEVER understand how good/impactful Dr. J was. I will NEVER forget as a kid the very first time I saw him play on TV! Back in his afro days. I had never seen anything like it. He blew my mind.
It never happened Joe Hammond play shooting guard he went head-to-head with Charlie Scott who was on Julius erving's West Snyder's team the majority of the points were scored on Charlie Scott but because Julius had the bigger name and yes they did switch off and yes they did switch off a few times where Julius was guarding him but the story became about Julius because Julius had the better NBA career but it never happened the doc said himself and he has no need to lie
