Looks great. Rugged, classy. Love the seats and dedication to making vehicles with great visibility, safety and utility. Still leaders and not following the sloped roofline fashion statement cars from Korea.
I'm torn between a 2014 3.6R and a 2017 3.6R model...? Many of the problems Subie owners face are with the 4cyl engine. However, the 6cyl boxer engine is virtually bullet proof on all the reviews i've read and that of course is the engine i'm aiming for. I'm leaning more towards the 2014 model just for the awesome appearance package. Love the mirror and door handle look they did on that model year. However the saddle brown interior may be nice in the shade but if the sun hits it just right in the pics that i've seen of it. It looks almost like a reddish brown gross poop color brown. They should have given you interior color choices with this "appearance package". A dark pacific blue exterior with the grey colored door handle and mirrors along with a beige interior would have been gorgeous...!!! The beige interior would have brought out the wood trim and made it look more classy in my honest opinion.
From what I understand, the Outback is due for a major refresh/redesign for 2015. And it needs it. Tested a bunch of AWD/4WD wagons/CUV's last year and kept coming back to the Outback 3.6 Limited as the best choice for the rainy PNW and occasional ski trips. But it ultimately lost out to the Kia Sorento at a similar price point with many more features, more room (surprisingly in a slightly smaller package), and better performance. If I lived on the shore of Lake Wobegon or had to engage in winter urban warfare in Chicago, the choice would have been the Outback. But since I don't, it wasn't. Furthermore, from what I've seen at my local Subaru dealer, the updated Forester makes the Outback an increasingly hard sell, especially since the V6 advantage of the Outback is let down by the ancient five speed automatic. Subarus are great cars and their fans are understandably fanatic. But the Outback is not an worthy flagship for the brand any longer. Time to catch up. P.S. Merry Christmas, Steve. Excellent review as always.
You mean H6? Yeah, that 5 speed has been around for several years. The new Legacy features a CVT behind the H6, I suppose the Outback will get the same trans. They get redesigned every 5 years, the new Outback is going to be AWESOME.
5eat is slow but predictable. The CVTs Subaru made in the last 6 years have been really good in my opinion but depends who you ask.......most people can't tell the difference.
good quality video ! thanks for the video i just buy a 2013 low mileage outback 2.5i black color limited exchange my f150 for i tow 10 times a years my atv so i be allright with more money in my Pocket and its cost less in insurance .
ata kuruoglu Depends what you call a 4WD - Yes the Subaru has constant All (4) wheel drive - therefore, technicallly it could be called a 4WD....However In Australia (and many other countries) - a 4WD is considered a vehicle with high clearance and Dual Range Transmission in either Auto or Manual and built to take the rougher country....The Subaru, whilst it is one of the best All Wheel Drives with some off road capability and very good clearance (same as a Jeep Grand Cherokee), would not be included in that description...and I am a Subaru Fan(having owned 6 of them over the years!) The Subaru will tackle moderate Mud and Snow and Gravel Roads and is safer due to it's AWD grip, but it would not get anywhere near where I take my Landrover Discovery....and the Landrover would not travel as quickly and safely as the Subaru on a wet/slippery mountain road.
its a great car i drive it for a while and i totally reccomend this car.only weakness is it needs some tech if u care about that stuff.I dont need navi or other shitty things so bluetooth and back camera is enough I'll connect my phone listen my music and i dont need anything else. This is my opinion and just because its Audi doesn't make it better. Ps:Audi does not have any off road vehicle in this price
I'm thinking of getting a Subaru Outback, but I have a dog that is 36 inches tall that needs to be in the back. I have looked up second row head room, but I don't know if at the end the roof kinda loses that size.. Can you please tell me??? Thanks so much!!
Well, first: Audi is much less reliable than Subaru ( I'm not the Subaru fan because it is ugly) , unfotunately in Europe ( I come from) it costs more than 15000 $ more, but it gives the driver quite a lot of confidence . Kia Sorento is no match for Subaru, starting from clearence which is about an inch less than In Subaru and ending with horrible handling. I've tested Sorento before buying my Pathfinder and though my Nissan is based on solid frame , it drives much better , doesn't jump on every occasion as Kia does . Subaru gives You more comfort ( it is station wagon, after all) even when You get out the solid road. Personally I woldn't go "offroad" in Kia but would consider doing it in Subaru. Outback still has The Thing that KIa has lost introducing new Sorento.Best wishes for all .
I like how the snow on the car flings forward as the car brakes hard
Happy Holidays, Steve.
Merry Christmas Steve!!

Soob4ME april 16th is when the new 2015 outback will be revealed
The Outback is longer than the Sorento...
Tbh I like their five speed despite it being paddle shifters.. makes it really nice in deep snow as you can pick your gear...
Can you do a new mazda cx 5 review please?
That engine sounds great.
Any chance of the Boxer Diesel ?? !!
Agree, Steve, the Outback 3.6R should either have a 6-speed auto or CVT.
5eat is slow but predictable. The CVTs Subaru made in the last 6 years have been really good in my opinion but depends who you ask.......most people can't tell the difference.
How much is a comparable audi with quattro? Unless you need all the space and ride height its going head to head with an audi 4wd.
The Outback is great, but for my life style, I stick to the Forester!
Just got one!!!

Is this a 4x4
no
yes it is

what about the forester 2014 or newer with the 2.0 or the Cherokee limited with the V6 and AWD active II
I don't know, the Cherokee is a little bleh design wise and the forester looks mommy mobile.....
They could've at least added a power lift gate for that price like what they did to the forester.
That's just not enough, I need an automated arm to reach out and grab the grocery bags out of my cart for me too.
***** april 16th is when the new 2015 outback will be revealed
I don't need a fucking power lift gate. It's too slow and I can lift a gate myself.
The Detroit 3. LOL. Detroit 3 are dogs.

Side zone alert the most important? BS, learn how to drive and always do a shoulder check.
Stop trying to use common sense damn it! Lol
very nice car
Using the term koolaid is a negative term.
Gas mileage. Give me more MPG !
37k what are they smoking? I could buy an Audi for that much.
Only a 5 speed garbage-matic??? Get with the times Koreans....
