Good morning Mr. Danny and Ms. Wanda. Your sink looks just like the one in my grandmother's house. I had a sink that I couldn't find a stopper. What I ended up doing was I found a silicone measuring cup that collapses. Once it was open it would fit in the sink opening and keep the water from running out. It also couldn't be knocked out while you were washing. I will ask some of my cousins that do construction and see if they are aware of any old stoppers for old sinks.
Good morning Danny, Wanda and everyone!🌄😊 That sink is gorgeous! Have always wanted a double washboard sink for my kitchen. Used to be able to get them for next to nothing. Now, people are charging several hundred dollars them. There is a lady in the Laurel Mississippi that restores them if you ever think about needing to. We had the same issue with finding a stopper that worked for our sink. It finally dawned on me, why not use the old fashioned rubber stopper with the metal ring on top, for down in the smaller opening? They still sell them at Ace Hardware, True Value Hardware and Hardware Hank. It works! Granite Ware still makes those dish pans. They work nice for mixing large batches up. And you can hang it up on the wall to store it. God bless everyone🥰
Tomorrow I'm making deer meatloaf for supper. When we bought our house 50 years ago we had a kitchen sink like your grandma's. We also had the metal cabinets under it. We remodeled and no longer have it. I really dont miss it because it would stain so bad. Sure don't miss having to clean it.
We do large batches of ground meat. We measure using solo cup that gives you the pound. No need to weigh each pack. We also vacuum pack the meat. We use to pack with freezer paper but switched for storage time. Both ways work for packaging.
Think my uncles added Salt & a few spices like onion garlic pepper granules on occasion before grinding. Cevapcici type mixes popular too. *An inexpensive butter knife that has a curved end is my favorite kitchen tool. -- 💌🍒
Growing up at the cabin I was the half horse motor running the grinder🤣🤣 Worst thing I ever ground was horse radish.....my nasal passages and tear ducts were definitely cleaned out after that 🤣
We had custom built wooden cabinets and drawers in our kitchen when I was growing up, but I remember the metal, enameled cabinets and drawers that our neighbors had. I thought they were wonderful.
@@vickisavage8929 Let's not forget the fact that just about everything in the store has some sort of toxic additive in it, and hidden, synthetic sugars that are more harmful to your health than sugar. I was looking at different brands of a specific probiotic, and one of them listed dextrin in the ingredient list. That took it off the healthy supplement list. In addition, even though there are farms, like Amish farmers, that will sell you traditionally grown and healthy food, the deep state will do everything they can to shut them down.
When it freezes the water to the house freezes…I fill 2 dish pans (well, those hospital pans they give you as an actual dish pan is too big) in the sink since the stoppers leak. One pan for washing and one for rinse. Between that and lots of paper plates and plastic utensils get us through for a few days. (We have extra water to refresh the sink water each day, but it’s limited)
I grew up washing dishes in a dishpan in the sink. Then my first apartment I had a long sink like that but a one large single sink with a long drain board side. Had to use a pan then too. A long time before I had a sink I could fill with water.
My brother that’s deceased now always made deer salami and deer sausages. Some with cheese, some with cheese and jalepeno which is my favorite and plain salami. All is very good but he added pork to his to. His wife continues to do this along with turtle soup.
I actually have what appears to be the same sink that came out of my grandparents house, the base was rusted out but the top was able to be refinished and is in our kitchen, my wife fell in love with it and wouldn’t let me turn it into a fish cleaning station. Thank you for sharing your story.
Good morning Danny and Wanda. thanks for sharing this video. Enjoy your dear burgers. How blessed you are to be able to do this. I absolutely love that sink. I wished I had one because I do my own dishes. I don’t believe in a dishwasher because I am the dishwasher and that would be so helpful instead of using a draining board that gets all yucky after a while.
I grew up washing dishes by hand in a double sink, and we washed the drain board daily. Dad was absolutely fanatical about cleanliness in the kitchen because he had lived through the consequences of lack of sanitation and learned the hard way that it could not be compromised.
There's a quick and easy solution to your sink drain if you don't mind a bit of ingenuity. Cut a wooden hole out of 1/2 or 3/4 inch cedar the ID of the drain, so it has a close fit, and glue that to the bottom of white white stopper. It will prevent the stopper from sliding out of place when washing dishes. Alternatively, purchase one or two 12 oz cans of tuna or chicken and use it as a drain stopper. You can empty the food and then fill the can with sand, and then seal it closed with epoxy adding a stainless steel nob for a handle.
Wanda is correct. It has a rubber stopper. My parents had that type for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately after my parents passed, the new owners burnt the house down. They only wanted land.
Hello Danny and Wanda! I have the exact same sink! Mine was my mother in laws and was in their canning and butchering kitchen in the garage. We bought the place in 2012 and I wanted that sink in my kitchen. I use it everyday. We found our parts at Lowe’s. They only had two so we were very lucky. I kept my base and love it. Keeping that sink is a decision one will never regret.
Both you and wanda need to get yourselve's some microwavable heating pads. I use mine all the time because I am poor and can't afford to heat the house. I heat mine for 1 1/2 minutes and it lasts for a long time. Definitely cheaper than electric heaters and it's portable where ever you go. Just hold it like you are holding a baby.
Danny, THANK YOU for saying which Ole Plantation sausage mix you use. I was trying to order us some and was blown away by all the different #'s there were. I started to go ahead and order the #10 but then second guessed myself and decided I would just ask you about it and by chance you said which one you use in this video. Thank you again. I'm still confused as to which ones are which but I think I'll use the one you mentioned. 🤦😃
ALWAYS CALL IT VENISON.. THAT IS THE PROPER NAME. I GREW UP IN MICHIGAN, NOW I LIVE IN WV.. WHEN I SAY VENISON.. I GET A BLANK STARE.."NO.. THIS IS DEER MEAT" ARGHHHH. WE NEVER PUT AS MUCH PORK..NOT 1/2 AND 1/2 I STARTED THINKING ABOUT CHILI AS SOON AS DANNY STARTED TALKING.

We always mixed our deer burner with beef fat. I've never tried it with pork. Maybe I'll try it next time
To protect the sink, put a towel under the dishpan.
It looks just like regular hambergermeat. God bless and have a wonderful blessed day
Growing up at the cabin I was the half horse motor running the grinder🤣🤣 Worst thing I ever ground was horse radish.....my nasal passages and tear ducts were definitely cleaned out after that 🤣
That will make a good meat loaf too cause I made one out of my deer and pork. Yummy.God Bless your day. Much love 💟
We have 2 of those old old sinks.. boy
. They are wonderful!!!!

Danny would it help if you use some good fitting vinyl gloves to keep the cold off your hands
It's very hard to find gloves to fit my big hands.
WE WERE GIFTED A DEER THIS YEAR, MADE 18 POUNDS OF HAMBURGER AND 3 POUNDS OF BACK STRAP. YUM YUM I HAVE ONE OF THOSE SINKS AND LOVE IT
I like how you share your portion sizes. Part of the obesity problem now days is people don't know what a healthy portion size is. Thumbs up.
This is so true.
Another part of the problem is the lack of understanding of what is healthy food - and choosing it.

Thanks for explaining the 2nd grind. Now I understand why my burgers want to fall apart these last several years.
I grew up washing dishes in a dishpan in the sink. Then my first apartment I had a long sink like that but a one large single sink with a long drain board side. Had to use a pan then too. A long time before I had a sink I could fill with water.
That meat turned out beautiful and I love that old sink!
Good morning Mr Danny and Ms Wanda. Thank y'all for sharing looks like some wonderful ground deer. Have a blessed day.
My brother that’s deceased now always made deer salami and deer sausages. Some with cheese, some with cheese and jalepeno which is my favorite and plain salami. All is very good but he added pork to his to. His wife continues to do this along with turtle soup.
Sounds like your brother had some great recipes.
That looks like the perfect meat grinder probably better than the newer ones

That is a nice sink, glad you could refinish it!
That second grind sure looks more appetizing. I'm enjoying your videos!
What a COOL story of your grandparents home!!! ❤️
Good morning!

Good morning!
I have used jar lids in the drain, and it holes pretty well, so it may need a large mouth.

That is a great idea for a drain stopper.

Sometimes I get to have them.
😎👍
Good morning Danny and Wanda...

Good morning Mrs Wanda and Mr Danny ❤
Morning
Wanda is correct. It has a rubber stopper. My parents had that type for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately after my parents passed, the new owners burnt the house down. They only wanted land.
If yall like chili that meat mix makes fine chili.
Looks familiar. Makes great meatloaf.
Great video thank you and Wanda. I’ve never had deer but I would like to try it, as hamburgers.
Just a shower thought.., I wonder if playdough inside of a tube sock / Ziploc bag would work as a sink plug ? 🤷
The last I remember, play dough was water soluble… not the best idea.
jam a clean wet cloth in the drain and gently press in futher with a knife- it will hold water well
thank u from Alabama for the great content
Thanks for the tip!
I have my Nannie’s dish pan… it has little bitty holes in it … so I have sum of my seeds in it … I remember her using it
It’s always good to have old family items that you love. You can JB weld those tiny holes and use it again.
After you do the dishes, you take the dish water and put it on the plants in the kitchen garden. NO WASTE!!!
I enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing 🙏 😎 🏝 🏖
This is the first real winter we’ve had in years. I’m in North Carolina but it looks like y’all are getting it too.
Yes we are
I had venison filet for dinner. Oh so good. Honestly I prefer venison over beef. Actually tastes more beefy to me.

I also use a dishpan!
What a blessing! Have always wanted one too in my kitchen, someday!😄
It is a great sink. It’s amazing how durable they are.
Had the same sink growing up. Always used a dishpan. Did not have any stoppers in the sink. Dad made some and they worked, he could make anything.
Those are like the tubs we had in restaraunts I cooked in. They will last a long time!!
Yes, the tubs we buy from the meat packing plant are designed for long term freezer storage.
Great video!
That little extra meat is your sampler 😂. Loved the video

We don't own a microwave they cause cancer.
I like to say Good Groceries. The old way is the best way!
I have a pair of gloves with the fingertips cut off. Could that help? At least most of your hand would be warmer. Meat looks good.
Don't forget you're weighing the wrapping paper and tape now to
Putting more food in the FREEZER !!
Awesome video danny and miss w anda
Danny your hands look cold!!!

You’re welcome! That’s the one we use. It has the best flavor to us.
@pecangrovems I can't wait to try it.
Great video today God bless
Good morning :) Do you always mix your deer with pork? Guess I grew up mixing with beef but, that looks really good. 😋
Yes we do
Wondering if a garbage disposer plug would work in that sink? 🤔
Good idea
Good morning

They were making those sinks in 1949 when my in-laws built their home.
