Unfortunately there is a thing in Korea about skin colour where it’s often seen as an attractive trait to have pale skin and therefore less attractive to have dark skin so it’s pretty common for people with darker skin (like Kai) to have nicknames or be made fun of etc., though it’s not as much these days.
I think kai was not trained about aegyo, he is younger than tao but he thought exok have sehun who train as cute maknae for years so he only focus on the sexy side 😂😂, but puberty hits sehun became sexy too，and they make kai join the aegyo line😂😂

There's not many people of different shades, ethnicities, cultures etc etc. to learn what is and isn't appropriate to make jokes about. To them, it was most likely harmless humor, but those of us born in countries that are a melting pot learn otherwise. Well, those of us who are accepting and open and not scum sucking pigs learn otherwise lol

It was actually very common in Korea to call out people who are ugly and darker skin and recommend product to “beautify” them. It happened a lot back then and you can see this in pretty much any group that had a darker skin tone like in Vixx .
