- This meeting aims to critically reflect on the lessons we, as editors and authors, learned writing the papers that were part of the special issue of the Journal of Comparative and International Higher Education "Inhabiting the Otherwise in International Academia: Critiques, Complexities, Struggles, and Re-Existences", especially in regard to the process of thinking "otherwise" to challenge colonization and coloniality in projects that seek to increase the internationalization of higher education. Our idea is to engage in dialogue to reflect upon some questions related to the coloniality we face in our work environments and lives, our decolonial projects and concepts informing our actions, as well as the contradictions and complexities experienced by our racialized bodies when trying to act otherwise in our Westernized academic spaces.
The conversations was mediated by the guest editors of the special issue, Jhuliane Silva (UFOP), Roxana Chiappa (Universidad de Tarapacá), and Juliana Martinez (UFPR).
Speakers:
Anne Carr, University of Azuay
Athena Alchazidu, Masaryk University
Gabriela Chumbi, University of Azuay
Nayara Mandarino, Federal University of Paraná
